Some of these reviewers are darn confusing. They say stuff like this about the movie:

But give it a great 3.5/4 rating. Is this confusing anyone else or is it just me?

That tells me that he enjoyed the film but is just nitpicking. I mean really, everything so far has pointed to a Bane full of motivation for what he does. It's pretty much a hallmark of who he seems to be in this film i.e. driven by an ideology.

I'd be really curious to see what this guy thought of The Dark Knight because depending on what he thinks of it, his Bane lacking motivation problem is absolute bollocks.

Memento
Inception/The Dark Knight
The Prestige
Batman Begins
Insomnia
Following.

Honestly, Knight, Inception, and Prestige are pretty interchangable at that two spot. That's how close it is for me.

I've seen him make posts like that about movies that he really liked but still thought that the reaction (such as in this case) was reprehensible and wanted to call attention to the fact that it's okay to have differing opinions. But, yeah, I have a feeling he won't like it. As others have said, he seemed pretty annoyed about the embargo on Sunday/screening on Tuesday thing, and he tweeted that. He loved the other two, but right now it wouldn't surprise me to see a negative/barely positive review from him.

It fits with the trend of top critics not loving it as much as the dark knight . I won't be suprised if he gives it a 3.5 /4.

I was in the Lincoln Square theater in NYC tonight picking up my tickets for the trllogy screening on Thursday. They still had stuff from the premiere last night - all of the posters in the lobby were for TDKR.

I'm gonna have to say it's a tie for second between Memento and The Dark Knight, so...

1) The Prestige
2) The Dark Knight/ Memento
3) Batman Begins
4) Inception (I think it's overrated, but an interesting experimental idea)
5) Following
6) Insomnia (The only Nolan film I truly don't care for)

I have a strong feeling Rises will end up in my top 3.

Ranking Nolan's films I'd say

Begins
Inception
TDK
Prestige
Memento
Insomnia

Haven't seen Following. I want TDKR to be my new #1 film from him, but that remains to be seen. It's hard to even put these in a ranking system because I like them all so much. Begins is easily my favorite one though.

WTF :cmad: even micheal thinks its not as good as the dark knight 2.5/4 He gave dark knight 4/4 I see a horrible pattern forming :csad: PLEASE 4/4 ebert, roeper don't fail me :csad:

I'm telling you, guys. . .

Ebert giving this movie a bad rating would be an unbelievably uncharacteristic thing for him to do.

Highly unlikely, in my honest opinion.

Knowing what will transpire in TDKR is making me look at BB in whole different light. :funny:

Out of my personal top 10 favourite movies of all time, 4 were absolutely hated by a lot of critics when they showed up, Vertigo, Blade Runner, Eyes Wide Shut and Fight Club, all of them got the critical acclaim they deserve later on but still, they were absolutely hated (not by everyone, but by a lot of critics, including the "top" ones)

There are dozens of other great films that were in similar situation.

And there are movies that I love, that I will always love that are considered "bad" by the huge majority. For example, Tony Scotts Revenge with Kevin Costner, I love that movie, always have/always will and I look at it like my "guilty pleasure" I actually love that movie, I don't care what critics say.

I really respect Roger Ebert for example and I learned alot about different films from him, he points out some things that I wouldn't catch on my own but when I disagree with him I dont question my taste, I question his.

My point being, Batman fans, I have yet to see TDKR, I'm seeing it in exactly 24 hours and 20 minutes but if I like it as much as I liked BB and TDK than Christopher Nolan and his crew have made something really special. A trilogy for the ages with my (and I believe to a lot of you reading this yours) favourite character.

This is the film story Batman always deserved and now we have it, not in just one movie but 3. As far as Batman in film is concerned after this, after this trilogy it will all go downhill, with the next reboots etc etc so....SCREW THE CRITICS, RT % etc and ENJOY !!!!

TDK and Prestige ahead of Inception for me, I find that the latter is hearder to watch over and over again.

For me, it's..

TDK
Inception
Memento
Begins
Insomnia

Never saw The Prestige.

Roger Moore of The Republic
Review: Positive (3.5/4)

Brad Wheeler of The Globe and Mail
Review: Positive (3.5/4)

1. InceptionPrestigeMementoTDKBatmanBegins
2. Insomnia.
3. Following.

There.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Good. It just puts some scenes into more perspective. And well, I just can't help but think at the back of my mind how much hell he's going to go through in TDKR while watching in BB. :oldrazz:

Great post.
And we have similar movie taste!

I do kind of care, though, what Ebert thinks about it, simply because we seem to have similar taste. But even if he gives it a ****** review, I doubt there's much of a chance of me disliking the film.
