So my friend was just texting me over the anger that he feels for TDKR now that he's viewed it for a third time. He loved it the first two times, but the third showing, he said he started to notice a lot of little things, and those little things kind of eat away at the movie as a whole.

I had a similar problem. The more I watch TDKR, the bigger the holes seem

What are these holes?

I've asked for examples before but only about two have stood up to the title of plot hole.

It was the exact opposite for me. First viewing I found a lot of tiny things to nitpick but after my second and third viewings everything clicked and suddenly those tiny things didn't seem so important.

I've still only seen it once, but plan on seeing it two more times in theaters. So I can't yet say which feelings I'll have.

It's my birthday today guys! Just wanted to express my thanks at being able to have been a part of this board, and that you guys are awesome! Watched TDKR for the 5th time last night anyway. :)

Zimmer's score was stunning especially during the stock exchange/batpod chase sequence. However, I wished they used a different track than "The Fire Rises" for the final battle as epic as it sounded "Imagine the Fire" would have suited it better.

The stock exchange transition to Batman's return was perfect. It really felt like the scene where the Joker crashes the fundraiser for Dent in TDK tension-wise. Except in TDKR Batman's entrance is through a chase sequence.

Tell him to watch it backwards once, then it will get him back to the joy he felt only seeing it two times.

Same here. I've seen the film three times and haven't noticed any real plot holes. I think people are just getting nit picky and over analyzing the film at this point since there is not much to talk about anymore.

Lol i love the heavy hitting aural onslaught you get from a Nolan/Zimmer collaberation. I know some dont like it, but when Zimmer's music is chiming away quitely in the background while the plane is flying over the hills i can't help but feel anticipation that builds and builds until Bane says "crashing this plane" and the music comes fullforce. I felt like a kid at christmas. Its was the same for Bane's speech in front of Blackgate. The energy builds and builds until it cuts to the arial shot of the penthouses and Bane says "an army will be raised" then the music and energy just comes on full force. I prefer TDK overall, i think, but TDKR had moments where the energy and emotion was electric

I'm totally with you on that one haha. For me, seeing a Bat-film on IMAX is both a Nolan movie and a Zimmer concert. I just bask in the complete sensory overload of it all.

"Spoils...will be ENJOYED!" :woot:

Oh and yeah...the original prologue was, tragically, 100x better than the crappy new dub we got. I choose to blame everyone who complained about the voice in December for it :o.

I really wish they'd switch it back to the original version for the Blu Ray.

I actually had an opposite experience the more times i watched things that weren't as clear at first that i might have chalked up to holes became better understood the 2nd or even 3rd time around.

Seeing it the 3rd time around in true imax did help with the enjoyment factor as well i suppose.

Just watched it for the 3rd time.

It sucks. I watched it for the first time in IMAX. 2nd time at a crappy theater. 3rd time at a better theater, but not at their better theater rooms with the really big screen and louder sound since they were not available. Now that the new Bourne movie is out and other few new movies, I doubt I will be able to watch it on a huge screen again.

Exactly.

TDKR had its irks and nitpicks from me, but BB and TDK received no different treatment. I still loved all three films despite the minor issues that fanboys obsessed over. Of course, each fan can think of improvements and label an aspect or element of the film as bad, lazy, and/or bland, but criticism is the simple part.

Mine were:

- Miranda Tate/Talia character
- Bane's death
- Gordon's weak arc
- Lack of Selina Kyle in the second act
- Alfred's disappearance for nearly 70% of the film
- The uncovering of 'The Lie'
- Deprivation of Occupied Gotham and Prison scenes
- Absence of various Bat-Gadgets
- Story needed more elbow room
- War to reclaim Gotham featured minimal build up
- Batman vs Bane II was way too short

Yeah these boards seem pretty good, not been here long myself but so far so good!!

How do you think "Skyfall: 007" will do? I was anticipating it a bit more than TDKR because 1.) I feel Daniel Craig is the best James Bond, 2.) They said it's supposed to be filmed like "Casino Royale: 007" which was an INCREDIBLE film

This year has just been plain awesome because 2 of my favorite characters in fictional history are Batman and James Bond from the Ian Fleming books :D

I'm not so much thinking of plot holes, but just holes in the general film itself. The editing, the writing. Parts of TDKR just don't work for me.

does everyone on these boards sincerely hate this movie, or are you all just sad to see it go so redirect that lose into hate? i havent seen anyone on these boards post one good thing about the dark knight rises, but rather nitpick it, hate it, etc

James Bond is going to do really well.

I agree with you, but I will always look forward to Batman more than anything else.

I got to rewatch the Daniel Craig James Bonds.

I didn't hate it, I just thought it's Nolan's worst film by far, so I'm quite disappointed.

To be honest I've seen a lot of nitpicking on the board about why the film didn't work which I think are absolutely tiny issues that don't effect the overall quality at all. There are elements of it which are quite divisive such as Blake taking up the mantle and Bruce retiring which, again, I have no problem with in theory.

My problem with the film is that none of the choices taken in it create any suspense or tension for me, and without that tension there can be no catharsis by the time it all wraps up in a neat, happy little bow. It's all bombast with very little subtlety or intelligence, and I feel it loses a lot of character and dynamism as a result of that.

There are tons of moments in The Dark Knight Triology that bug the crap out of me.

Like in The Dark Knight when Batman appears out of thin air for his ''Then you're gonna love me!'' line

That drives me mad on repeat viewings. TDKR is full of little moments like that.
