To say Wally's work on Moneyball is better than his work on Inception, Knight, and Prestige is just flat out crazy talk. Especially the Prestige....

What can I say? I find the overuse of handheld medium closeups in the Prestige entirely tiring. I think that Miller's directorial style better compliments Pfister's work than Nolan.

Overuse? Maybe I need to watch the Prestige again because that's one elegant piece of work, cinematically...last time I looked at it.

Maybe you do. But yes, almost the entire film is shot on handheld. I can tolerate the wide shots, but the medium closeups are tiresome. Wally's lighting is exquisite as always, but ultimately it falls on Nolan and I think his shots weren't very varied.

Now that we have a response from Whedon,

/drama.

It could've been, but his diplomatic reply will ensure it won't.

And ******** on Moneyball. I was stunned to find out that Wally shot that film. It's not even close to the work he's done with Nolan. Not. Even. Close.

Completely agree. Moneyball's cinematography looked bland to me.

Do the Bat-boards ever do anything else than bash Avengers? It got old months ago, people.

Seeing comments like: "oh clearly the Avengers was more critically lauded than it deserved" is ridiculous. This is exactly why the Bat-boards are the laughing stock of the Hype.

I've seen a ton of very nasty stuff written on the Avengers board about TDK and Nolan. Hell, at one point the Avengers review thread turned into a TDK bashfest simply because a critic dared to praise Avengers by saying it was as good as TDK. Talk about being unable to accept a compliment, these guys went off on how it was an insult to compare the piece of garbage that was TDK to the masterpiece that was Avengers.

Heh. Members in this James Bond forum I frequent are acting in the exact same way to comparisons of TDK to Skyfall, calling it an insult to Skyfall for the comparison.

That's funny. Shows a lot of insecurity on their part.

Why would it be such a problem that TDK is an inspiration? Shows how much just unadulterated hate Nolan's trilogy gets with no reasoning.

I understand it about as well as I understand wearing ironic clothing.

Link doesn't work?
Of course not, it came from CBM. :oldrazz:

All he said was:

Joss Whedon said:
I'm sorry to hear it. I'm a fan.

I still think that Wally would be able to have a beer with anyone on that crew and have a laugh, but of course everyone has to get all soap-opera-drama-y about it. :oldrazz:

Although a penis-measuring contest like what McG dared Michael Bay would have been epicly hilariously epic. :awesome:

Thanks Anita. I had no idea it was from CBM. I just got an 'Oooops link not found' page when I clicked on it. We could all learn a lot from Joss and his calm level headed attitude.

Yeah I mean, Wally is an adult, so I'm not going to judge what he should or shouldn't have said. But he will have to endure the consequences of his words, which is true for everybody. Joss just has better things to do than to join the fray. :funny:

I must say, I have saved myself a lot of headaches online by being able to walk away from an imminent trainwreck. :awesome:

Joss Whedon responds!!!!!!

To a disappointing dismissal. It's like he knows he has the more beloved film in his hands.

It's almost like you want people to get into an argument, lol.

Does it really matter. From a visual standpoint, once you get over the fact that there is more than one superhero standing in the frame, the avengers isn't anything spectacular in the visual sense, so I see where wally's comments are coming from.

Some films just have an appealing visual look. Skyfall, from the few trailers I've seen looks good, asethically speaking.

As for the more beloved film. Trust me, in five years time avengers will be getting the same complaints as Nolan's movie. It's the circle of life on message boards.

Wally was a bit harsh, that's all. Maybe the damage wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't use the word "appalling" and just said "it wasn't my thing". Oh well, sometimes a bit of bluntness can be fun. Glad to see Joss is being a big boy about it.

Eh, Wally just said this to get some attention for his upcoming film.

Same thing with Cronenberg saying he didn't like Nolan's movies a week or two before Cosmopolis came out.

Just a way to get your name in the press and have people mention what you're working on.

Glad Whedon handled the criticism with class.

Nolan and his Bat films are the elephant in the room when it comes to online film discussion of blockbusters these days.

Say what you want but he changed the game with this trilogy, more specifically with Knight.

People just need to get over the phenomenon that was that film. It was completely earned.

Why didn't Batman take the military's help in the end of TDKR? In the movie he basically takes down Bane's army with his own officers' army which acts as a distraction as in the backdrop Gordon jams the bomb. But when Batman proclaims his return(the burning bat scene),he risks Bane's detonation of the bomb in fear of failure of his plan at Batman's hands who could have stopped Bane(and at that time the device is not jammed).

So,in my opinion, the best and most logical plan for Batman would have been to explain to the Government the situation and to arrange for a cooperated attack. In this attack Batman would jam the device(instead of Gordon) and then signal the military to launch an attack(most probably aerial as the bridges were down). In this way,Bane would be caught off guard and chances of success would be higher if Talia's treachery is not taken into account which wasn't taken into account anyway by Batman when he made his plan.Someone please point out the flaws in my plan,if any exist.
