Yeah, I've replayed that part about ten times now. Just fantastic.

Why is that?

Possibly because I was pretty numb to MOS and Watchmen did absolutely nothing for me. I've gotta rewatch MOS at some point before BVS arrives in theaters next year.

I really want to see the entire Suicide Squad trailer, but only found a bootleg on youtube of the last few seconds with Leto-Joker.

Yeah, it's common complaint about Snyder I do see about his movies. A lack of emotional investment in them. The characters and the story leave people cold. I've no desire to ever watch MOS again. Not because I thought it was so bad, though I didn't think that much of it overall. It was the kind of movie where when it was over I just felt like I've seen it, and once was enough.

I think only the bootleg is available for the SS trailer as it wasn't officially released.

Yeah that's exactly how I felt about MOS. What did you think of the comic-con BVS trailer, joker?

Visually it looked terrific. Fully of comic booky eye candy. I geeked out at the shot of a certain costume that was defiled by a certain clown. The story seems very interesting. The whole repercussions of Superman's big fight in MOS. It's good they're addressing that as a lot of people had a problem with it.

I'm open minded and cautiously optimistic about it, but not excited. How about yourself?

I really liked the two Joker easter eggs, I take it he knows Batman's secret identity?

Yeah the defiled costume gave me chills. Like you said, a lot of eye candy and what could be iconic shots for these characters. The only negatives is Eisenberg, but oddly enough I liked his "the red capes are coming" line, go figure, right?

Eisenberg's the long haired Luthor right? I think he's going to be a misfire as Luthor. Probably the only dud among a very strong cast. I'm a big fan of Holly Hunter's from way back. It was a treat to see her in it.

Yeah that's him. I don't see Eisenberg being believable and truly disappearing into the character. Even with that damn wig.

I thought the BvS trailer was a homerun. Seeing WW finally in action left me breathless. About damn time!

And that SS trailer? Even more fantastic than the BvS one (and that's saying a lot). Margot is going to be a huge star. That's all. This is going to be to her what GOTG was for Chris Pratt.

When is the SS trailer officially coming out? Weird that they would release the BvS trailer but not SS.

I really didn't think Leto was channeling Ledger at all. I think it sounds like that to a lot of people because A) bootleg quality makes his voice sound a bit deeper/muffled and B) that specific line of dialogue with the dramatic pauses between "really...really...bad" was somewhat reminiscent of the "here...we...go" line from TDK that also had dramatic pauses between words.

Yeah I'm a bit baffled by the Ledger comparisons too. Leto seems to be doing his own thing I think.

The Ledger similarity was very obvious to me. Almost like an impression, which is not a good thing at all. This Joker should differentiate itself from Ledger's, otherwise they are just asking for (more) unfavorable comparisons.

Man, I cannot be bothered to scroll through all these various threads for the trailers right now so I'm glad it's being talked about here. :funny:

-Wonder if the dead Robin could perhaps be leading us to Under the Red Hood
-Eisenberg didn't click with me here
-Batman v Superman is easily one of the best looking CBMs if it's up to par with this trailer.
-As someone who was a bit indifferent at first, the direction they've taken it has turned me around. I think it all sounds really interesting.

-I like Leto's Joker so far, performance wise
-Robbie's voice sounds a little too spaced out and lacking energy, however I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that it's just the lines they chose as I do think she's going to nail it despite a really bad costume.
-Lots of Silence of the Lambs vibes, especially Harley's cell and Croc being wheeled down the corridor
-Viola Davis nailing it as expected

The really, really bad part was the one part that didn't sound like Heath to me. It was the "im not gonna kill yuh" that sounded just like Heath but deeper.

It sounds like it's influenced by Ledger but i actually dig it. Harley is the greatest in that trailer.

I thought Leto did kind of sound like Ledger and that is a good thing IMHO. Ledger's Joker voice is incredible. It's like a blend of Cagney gangster with a playful clown. I like what we're seeing from Leto so far.

What did you think of the BvS footage?

I liked it. Really, really liked the motivation they are giving Bruce Wayne. It was a great idea to retcon him into the MOS climax. Provides excellent reason for him to take down Superman. The only thing I'm really not sure about is Wonder Woman. Feels like she is in there just for the sake of setting up Justice League.

I also loved the cinematography. I always found Snyder's films to be plastic looking. But the extended location shooting has worked wonders on his already good visual eye.

The film displays the majesty and texture of Pfister but with the added benefit of Snyder's great design work.

Yeah that was the strongest part of that trailer. The visuals. Some incredible eye candy there.

Finally catching up with everything...trying to collect all my thoughts.

-Definitely some nice eye candy in the new BvS trailer...more vibrant colors than MoS for sure and I like that.
-I agree that retconning Bruce into the battle of Metropolis was a good move as it immediately makes the stakes more personal. Appreciate the attention to detail of it being Zod's heat vision that knocks over the Wayne building.
- I REALLY like the bits with Martha Kent and Alfred. Love the way they're being written and performed. The real highlights of the trailer for me.
- Affleck seems pretty solid so far as Bruce. Is it just me, or does the delivery of "and we have to destroy him" sound JUST like Bale? I don't mean Bale's Bat-voice per se, just Bale's typical whispery "urgent" voice I guess. Stuck out immediately to me.
- Gadot looks good...but also a bit on the "cute" side as Wonder Woman. Not sure if I buy it yet.
-The movie seems very crowded. I'm calling it now, this will probably have a Watchmen-esque Director's Cut. And if that's true, also gonna call that a lot of the cut material will be the more Batman-centric stuff/flashbacks.
-The quick shots of Batman fighting look great (the desert stuff with the Superman army looks like a ridiculously badass scene) but I couldn't help but feel cheated by the blatantly obvious CG shot of Batman escaping with the grappling hook. It just bugs me, because we've seen countless shots in the previous films of Batman swinging with stunts and wirework. I totally get that CG is necessary in these movies, but to me there's no excuse when it's being used as a shortcut for things that could've been achieved in camera, at least on a green screen. So yeah, the action looking just like MoS's action is a downer for me, considering the visuals overall are an improvement. Even more underwhelming coming off that Star Wars behind the scenes video that showcase all the effort going into making that film feel tactile.
-Eisenberg's Lex...idk. I'm intrigued to see what the full performance will be so I'm reserving judgment, but I'm getting a whiff of "this might be comically bad" here. The last line was so awkward.

As for Suicide Squad...it's looking pretty great, I must say. I'm so excited for Robbie's performance, and I liked the glimpse we got of Leto. I think he's definitely taken a bit of inspiration from Ledger, but I've got no problem with that. It actually might've been a mistake to make a conscious effort to steer entirely away from it just to be different. Especially because Ledger's Joker had the punk rock vibe and think there's a similar sort of angle with Leto's. He definitely has a great smile. I think the a lot of the movie is just going to depend on the chemistry of the ensemble, which is hard to gauge from the trailer, but I'm feeling very encouraged.

Putting nitpicks and reservations with BvS aside, I think overall the DCU is definitely moving in the right direction to offer an alternative brand to Marvel while updating their product to reflect what the people want now. Both trailers seemed to strike the perfect balance in tone of dark/edgy and comic booky. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
