Konami The Thing: Remastered

Hell yeah! And Nightdive Studios behind this has me even more excited!

I didn’t even know there was a video game!

Still, cannot wait to play it!

Played this a lot as a kid. Remaster Came from nowhere

I was originally worried about Atari acquiring nightdive but it seems to be working out for them. Outside of some contradictory lore elements, this game was a hidden gem.

I remember playing this and getting near to the end but never actually finishing it.

They removed the scripted assimilations so that system functions more like it was supposed to conceptually.

The one negative I have with it (aside from the narrative issues it has in connection with the original film) is they gave it a modern control scheme but didn't rebalance the game to accommodate for that so it makes a game that wasnt particularly difficult to begin with even easier. Its similar to when Capcom re-released the Resident Evil 1 remake with modern controls and you could just dance around enemies and bosses with ease

One of my problems is the NPC AI is lacking. I will go somewhere in an area only for them to not follow me. They aren't cowering or anything and I did not tell them to stay, they just don't move until I go back and sometimes it takes two or three tries.

Yeah I noticed that too. They didn't touch anything to do with path finding or AI so that stuff is exactly like it was in the original which is an odd choice. They'll fix the assimilations, completely replaced the lighting and even replace the rando body you find in the early game with Nauls body from the film but original AI is intact. Overall, I'm happy with it but it could use more work.
