The Thread That Always Comes Back Around: Jai Courtney IS Captain Boomerang

I think it's ironic, because by toning down the badness of characters like the Joker and Boomerang it ends up making Katana a silent, subservient Japanese woman who flings around a sword instead of someone who physically stands up to the chauvinistic remarks of the white Boomerang and Harley a lovesick character whose only goal is to go back to her man.

The gratuitous shots of Margot's butt doesn't help the sexist criticisms (and it's something I would get rid of personally) or perhaps criticism regarding the portrayal of El Diablo or Katana's entire costume, but including these less attractive and offensive qualities in some of these characters doesn't necessarily mean the film supports or glorifies these views, and could've provided the filmmakers a chance to actually refutes these perspectives. Boomerang's racism/sexism is bad, which is why Katana just doesn't take these complaints. The Joker's abuse is bad, which is why Harley chooses to leave him and stay with the squad in the original script. It's a travesty that in an effort to make it less offensive we end up shortchanging these characters of opportunities to really stand up for themselves and not fall into stereotypes.
