TMZ reports that Rachel McAdams (Wedding Crashers, Red Eye, The Notebook) is in talks to star in New Line's The Time Traveler's Wife, based on Audrey Niffenegger's bestselling novel of 2003.

McAdams would be reteaming with screenwriter Jeremy Leven, who wrote the screenplay for The Notebook. The site adds that Stephen Frears (Dirty Pretty Things) and German director Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) are at the top of the studio's list of directors.

The Time Traveler's Wife is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, an adventuresome librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

The Time Traveler's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's marriage and their passionate love for each other as the story unfolds from both points of view. Clare and Henry attempt to live normal lives, pursuing familiar goals—steady jobs, good friends, children of their own. All of this is threatened by something they can neither prevent nor control, making their story intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

Sounds like a pretty intriguing concept and i  Rachel McAdams:o

I just got done watching Red Eye.
Rachel McAdams is so beautiful.

*drools*

I love this book ,it's a very romantic tragic book.I could see her in the role never would have thought of her . I have always pictured Adrien Brody as Henry so I hope he gets the part.

I think this film would be great.

loved the book, I've read it twice. it was difficult the first time because I had actors in my head as I read the book, sort of performing the book in my head, but when they would sporadically in the book describe things about Clare or Henry they wouldn't match the actor I had. so I am kind of up in the air on who should play, I'd be open to any good actors/actresses

McAdams is a fantastic actress. I believe she'll do the part justice.
And those of you who haven't read the book: do so. You won't regret it.

Time Traveler's Team-Up
Bana, McAdams set to star in screen adaptation.
by Stax

US, April 17, 2007 - The stars have aligned for New Line's screen adaptation of the bestselling The Time Traveler's Wife. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams will topline the pic, which begins filming this August.

Robert Schwentke will direct. The screenplay adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel was penned by Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin. Brad Pitt's shingle Plan B will produce.

According to Variety, "Bana will play a Chicago librarian with a genetic disorder that causes him to time-travel when he is under duress. Though his disorder causes him to vanish for long periods, he tries to build a life with the woman he loves. She's a young heiress struggling with the arrangement."

The project serves as a reunion for McAdams and New Line, the studio behind Wedding Crashers and The Notebook, in which she starred.
There was a thread on this before but it got wiped, anyway it's got a cast now and is going ahead:up:

Hmmm never heard of it till now...it seems like it might be worth checking out.

To me, Ron Livingston will always be Peter Gibbons from Office Space, no matter what role.

Is the story told from her point of view only?

Sounds like an interesting concept, plus Bana is awesome and I'll see him in just about anything. Not to mention McAdams is gorgeous.

This film has been pushed back to February 2010. That does not bode well as that is the second time it was rescheduled. It was supposed to be released originally over the 2008 holiday season, and then it got moved to the fall. Too bad, becuase this is one of my favourite books and I'd love to see the movie.

Sounds like a spin-off of Benjamin Button. :oldrazz:

Makes you wonder what is taking so long?

If I had to guess, it didn't turn out as good as the studio wanted so they are shifting it to a dead time for films. Maybe they will even do some reshoots?

hopefully because from what i've heard of the book it'd make for one beautiful film if done right. looks like it won't be that way :(
