The Tobey Maguire/Peter Parker Thread

I read in the london metro paper today that, MAGUIRE WILL DEFINATELY BE IN SM4 and that he wants to direct some of it. Just thought I'd post this tid bit...(using a dodgy keyboard).

I really hope that's true! At this point, I can't see any other actor but Maguire as Spidey. The only way I'd welcome a Spider-Man 4 (with a new crew and new actors) with open arms is if the franchise takes an extended break of some sort. If the fourth movie is coming out in 2-3 years, then I want the same guys back.

What pisses me off is that they introduced the staceys in sm3. Had they been introduced in sm4, then a new cast and crew would have gone down a whole lot easier but for the good of it all, I still want a recast.

I think both Bryce and Cromwell although lacked severe character development did alright jobs in their small roles and I wouldn't detest their return in the next instalment.

Of course. I want to see more of the staceys, especially Gwen just for the simple fact that it'll expand the story as opposed to the boring and linear approach of sm1 and 2. I like my drama and if its good, Ill have more of it at the expense of the action and thats how I somewhat felt about sm3. The character scenes were a welcome departure from the crap we were given in sm1 and 2 and thats a trend I hope continues. I want to feel anxious, excited and nervous for Peter's situations when hes not wearing the costume and that one of the reasons why I love sm3 so much, because as flawed as it is, it imo has a sort of vintage spider-man comic book feel that 1 and 2 sorely lacked.

With spidey 3 being a box office hit, I can see Sony try really hard to get Raimi, Maguire & Dunst back for movie 4 .

$30million!?!?!?!?!?!?! he can kiss my ass. Out of 3 films, he does one solid performance (sm3) and now he thinks he can get that much for a performance that will most likely be a rehash of sm1 and 2. Bastard.

I hope it is true as well. he is a great Peter Parker and I personally couldn't see anybody replacing him. same for the rest of the cast and crew. Sam is a great director of these Spidey films and the rest of the actors play their roles perfectley.

Right now, despite the negative criticisms, box office numbers dictate that Sony has an increasingly successful franchise on their hands. My guess is that they'll do whatever it takes to keep every part of their successful franchise formula together - even if it means paying Tobey $30 mil.

why? They could easily get Jake G for a cheaper price and lets be honest, replacing Tmags with Jake G wont hurt the film at all. Admittedly a lot of people will b1tch and moan like there's no tomorrow about the recast but they'll get over it very quickly once they see pics and footage.

If you ask me, if they replace Tobey - they need to replace everyone else also - director, cast, writers - everyone. The only way I'm in favor of recasting is if they revamp the whole franchise. For me, it's all or nothing.

I second that.

If the future Spidey movies have Gyllenhaal, I won't see them. I can't quite explain myself on this, but there's something about Gyllenhaal that annoys me. I don't like him as an actor.
