My neighbors put up their Christmas lights and few decorations tonight. Every year it gets a little earlier. This is ridiculous.
I remember when people used to see Christmas stuff in mid-November and they would complain, "It's not even Thanksgiving yet."
Now the stuff is out in mid-October? It is just so unnecessary.

You forgot about stores, they been putting up the decorations since last month

Ever seen a Halloween Jack-O-Lantern next to a Santa Claus lawn ornament? I have. I think we're in the same boat.

I'm all in favor of regulating the holiday season by passing a law which would make it illegal to display any Christmas decorations or play holiday music in public locations until after Thanksgiving. This has become absurd.

My stepdad made it a rule when I was a kid that we couldn't mention Christmas in front of him until December. We hated that rule. Now I get it.

It is kinda funny...cramming X-Mas with Hallow's Eve is like combining Jesus Christ's birthday with Satan Day.

I work at HomeGoods and we had xmas dec in the back all the way back in august

Last year, we didn't get around to putting up decorations until Dec. 22. I was fine with that.

The whole idea of Halloween being inherently demonic dates back to ancient times, when the Celts and Druids would conduct human sacrifices to honor the dead on October 31st. But the true meaning of the holiday actually relates to November 1st, known as "All Saint's Day".

Since the 31st is the day preceding it, the name "All Saint's Eve" was given; eventually, it changed to "All Hallow's Eve", then "Hallowe'en", and finally "Halloween". So, from a literal standpoint, the name of the holiday isn't demonic at all. Many of our modern traditions (jack o' lanterns, scary costumes, trick-or-treat, etc.) do stem from old superstitions and customs, but the name itself has nothing to do with the devil.

As for the original topic, I saw my local Tom Thumb store with stockings on display just last week; now that irritated me to no end. We're still over 2 weeks from Halloween, more than 6 weeks from Thanksgiving...and they're already stocking Christmas stuff? To quote Charlie Brown, "good grief!"...:whatever:

Uh oh, don't give them any ideas. We don't need Christmas specials on yet.

I've been listening to Christmas music for about a month now ( late Sept.) and I'll be putting up decorations this weekend. :woot:

Actually, the only historically accepted sacrifices on Samhain were animals.

Yes, it's called "Wanting to make money" or business as the regular folk like to call it.

I work at HomeGoods and we had xmas dec in the back all the way back in august

Really, where at? I work at a Marshalls/Homegoods in Miami.

this is one of my major annoyances...i know people want to make money and such but cant we at least wait till november hits to display all these decoartions. i saw stuff up on sale since october started and it made me so angry....

It's too early for Thanksgiving...I'm JUST NOW thinking about Halloween.

Jeez. Society.

I hate society.
