According to YourMovies.com.au "David Duchovny has promised "X-Files" fans that a second big screen adventure for alien chasers Fox Mulder and Dana Scully is on its way.

The 46-year-old actor, who is currently promoting his new romantic comedy "Trust the Man", told reporters that a sequel to the 1998 sci-fi film is still in development.

"I'm still very much in touch with Chris [Carter, creator of The X-Files]," he said.

"Gillian [Anderson] and I are positive about it. It's not like we're running from it." Duchovny blames the delay on a long-running legal dispute at 20th Century Fox.

"I have not seen a script, but there's an idea."

YES!!!.... its not in development hell anymore!!!...

and he promised!(i want it on paper now:o )

Its still in deevelopment hell :( The legal problems will keep it stuck there for a while yet. I am sure that they will get to finish the X-Files off properly (start by ignoring the last few seasons of the show).

What Duchovny says he has been saying for years. I doubt this movie will happen anytime soon, if ever.

Was the series cancelled because of low ratings or legal problems?

x-files was great, but I only watched it up to the end of season 3.
I dont think the bbc showed any other series of it, and british satellite never show episodes in the right order, so I pretty much gave up on it- I think the will they wont they? was starting to wear a little thin by that point and the plots were becoming seriously convoluted.....

I always thought the x-files movie was a letdown, because it was just like a long tv episode, they should have established the movies as a different entity (same actors of course but a bigger spectacle...)

thats the only reason I would see an x-files 2, if it went back to its roots and got a much needed jumpstart. and it would have to have scully and mulder in it of course....

You did the right thing. The show jumped the shark shortly after the third season and got quite bad towards the end IMO.

i just dont think it should be based or have much connections with the episodes......... needs to be fresh

Never really got into the x-files didn't seem interesting.

Wow, I was just discussing the show last week

I believe Chris Carter and Fox are having the leqal problems.

Carter wanted to end the show after season five, Fox wanted it to continue (since they will squeeze every penny they can get before cancelling any show) so instead of having some Fox-Yesman screw up the show he decieded to stay on and atleast screw it up himself. He hoped the Super Soldier storyline and new agents would keep the show going ala Law & Order but of course the ****ty writing killed the show.

What the legal problems are, I don't know. He's probably owed money.

The question is what will be released first? X-Files 2 or Indy 4?

I really hope this gets made cause i miss the show. The legal trouble has been going on for quite a while now.

I hope that if the legal issues are resolved the series should come back. . . .

Wishful thinking??
