Saw it today and enjoyed it. But yeah, it has plotholes, stupid characters and other flaws. Hopefully the director's cut will be better.
Unanswered questions =/= Plot Holes

Only two of the characters are really all that unintelligent.

I myself don't really have any issues with the film. I rather liked the plot.

Sorry to hear about your dog DoomsdayApex. I hope the benadryl works.

Best wishes, man.

Ok, I'll just ask here:

What are your thoughts on Prometheus?

Thanks.

Well, my thoughts are scattered around at the present moment but I thought the film was beautiful and thought-provoking. Albeit, with all of its flaws involving the script, the movie still managed to impress me on so many levels. I am anxiously awaiting the Director's Cut on Blu-Ray now, and I counting down the days until I hear the official announcement for Prometheus: Paradise.

i hope the best for your dog...plz keep us updated...and a prometheus sequel has been announced?

Thank you, I'm hoping it pulls it off too. I'll definitely be pacing up and down all night long.

@Cory: Thanks for the advice too.

I thank you for your well-wishes.

There's a possible sequel in the works but it remains uncertain until Fox green-lights it and whether or not Scott decides to helm it immediately. He's currently got two other projects.

Doomsday hope your dog is doing fine keep us updated, never ever like it when any dog is sick.

As for Prometheus, i doubt Ridley will direct the sequel, he's got that Cormac McCarthy film, Blade Runner and a potential Moses film. He's 75, i hate to say it, but it sounds like that's it for him. In terms of films he will make.

After seeing Prometheus for the 2nd time I really only think people who hate it just really wanted yet another Alien film. Ridley himself said time and time again it wasn't a straight up prequel and most went "yeah whatever, don't lie lol"..well he was telling the truth.

I'd rather have a different type of movie like Prometheus was..rather than another "oh no..we are stuck on a ship and a alien is picking us off one by one" it's been done, and it was done to perfection in the originals.

The nitpicking about the DNA or the acting or story..its just that..nitpicking. If you didn't like the film - okay. No need to try and find faults. Like what was said above..plotholes and unanswered questions aren't the same thing. Are people forgetting how little Alien actually told us about the alien itself? Barely anything. More and more was given away film by film. Prometheus told so much in the first 3 minutes! Then the biology guys come out and complain...seriously? Then people criticize the acting and characterization..alot can be said without big speeches to make me understand a character, and if you watch properly, each character is defined very well and subtly without the use of over explaining. And the acting was amazing!

/End rant, go watch AvP and see what bad is.

Also, your dog will be fine :)

Morning empty tusi..

I didn't like it because the Alien franchise is not for me, not for any of the reasons you mentioned.

:awesome:

I wasn't blown away by the 3D effects. I think the visuals are just as great in 2D.

Thanks.

I'm fairly sure Ridley has said that the theatrical cut is pretty much the director's cut, and that while deleted scenes will be included, they will be extras only.

That said, Fox could decide to release an 'Extended' cut of the film I suppose!

Both of Greens posts are incorrect.

:awesome:

The 3D IMAX was jawdropping, imo.

Morning guys!

Any of you see Prometheus in 3D? Was it worth it?

Hey Venus!

As far as 3D goes, Prometheus' is well above average. So if you like 3D then I'd say go for it.

Personally, even if the 3D is good, I tend to stop noticing that it is 3D about a quarter of an hour in, which happened to me with Prometheus as well. So if you experience something like that, then maybe 2D is better value.

I have the same experience, but there's no 2D option here, so I'm forced to wear those glasses (over my regular glasses).

I thought the 3D in Prometheus was great, more subtle which I liked.

:awesome:

Maybe you experienced it differently in IMAX, but the 3D didn't do it for me.

IMAX has a different 3D system so that probably plays into it.

I also have to wear 3Dglasses over my glasses but that's fine for IMAX cos they are massive and dont interfere with my glasses. Normal screens are different..then it really is like wearing two pairs of glasses and you feel like a *****e.

That's exactly the reason why I saw it in 3D.

3d also tends to give me a headache, especially if it isn't done very well, and I had no such issue with Prometheus. So there's that too :yay:

It would be cool if our regular glasses had a 3-D function - that would be awesome.

My local theater uses 3D glasses that are unnecessarily big, and they always slide off my nose every 3 minutes because of my normal glasses.

You know those glasses that have flip up/down sunglasses attachments? could be done for 3D I suppose..

Aw that's bad. The IMAX ones are big, but fit more like a viser so its not a problem.
