Ah ****. Those are all things that would bother me.

So definitely not even on level with SM1 then?

I mean, did you like Raimi's films?

It was no Spiderman (2001) for me but a somewhat lesser version of Spiderman 2. And I'm not a massive Raimi fan.

A 6 or 7 isn't a terrible score. But if it's billed as the so called cinematic saviour of the franchise, because SM3 was apparently so atrocious, it doesn't seem to deliver in that regard. But yeah, I'll see it myself and make my own call.

A 6.8 (in my grading system) is not a horrendous score. It's just incredibly average to mediocre score.

So it wasn't as good as both of the Raimi films?

Well, I'm a pretty big Raimi fan, but I was going to go in with an open mind. Oh well.

Apparently it has the problem of recycling material from SM1 as well as script problems and the lack of a compelling villain. This tweet about sums it up:

Parker gets bit by a magical spider and has to stop his mentor to save NY? I liked that plot when it was EVERY SPIDER-MAN MOVIE EVER.

Wow! TASM sounds like a rehash instead of a reboot. :(

But what's this about a "new orgin" blue sugar? Put it in spoiler tags or PM me please. I'm curious.

Oh and thanks for explaining your ratings system :)

So you think SM1> SM2? I thought was the only one who felt that way.

How's your running from your creepy town going btw?

I'll be seeing it tonight. I'm kinda excited because I know next to nothing about the movie.

I LOVED it. I can't even watch Raimis first Spider-Man after seeing TAMS. No joke. All the things in the trailers that i nitpicked, all the silly Lizard scenes and Spidey scenes that i didnt like...well most of them were cut-out of the movie. The acting (especially from Garfield) was amazing and light years ahead of anything from Raimis films.

It was NOT a very original movie. It was basically a remake but with better pacing that lead up to the spider-bite, and acting. They definately held onto a lot of footage of the "parents", probably for the next one. Martin Sheen and Sally Field are the best Uncle Ben and Aunt May. No question.

The Lizard was cringe-worthy in each trailer for me, but i actually liked him. Nothing fantastic but a suitable "first movie" villain. A good way to give fans a villain that was teased in all 3 raimi movies (Conners) while leading up to who the next villain will be. A good setup imo. Not a perfect script, but the flaws are very minor, it's nothing that took me out of the movie or anything.

People are way too nitpicky. Expect a remake but with better actors and a MUCH better Parker & Spidey. I cant stress enough how GREAT Garfield was. I cant watch Tobey anymore, sorry. Garfield friggin nailed it.

The score needs to be worked on. And i think they should bring back the actor who played Jameson for when they introduce Daily Bugle.

I thought he only really had one origin.

RAW was great!

Nope.

Spiderman, for me, was one THEE most memorable CBMs I've ever seen. It wasn't prefect but I still hold it quite high.

I stayed at a Motel 8 last night and I plan on staying in Miami tonight. I'll go back to my apartment in a week.

This review is so overly hyperbolic that I'm just going to ignore it. Moving on...

I hold them on the same level in that I love them both equally.

Good luck.

You fled the city??

What was that thing?

Garfield was a bit too awkward at times, but he did a good job.

I'd give it a 7.7/10

Slim I cant work you out lol..you go sad when expectations for TASM are squashed, then morbid when someone says its better than Raimi's.

Haha, I'm not all that sad about it. As a Spidey fan, I want his films to succeed, but this film looks really average/mediocre, and it kind of has since the beginning.

I don't like it when people get overly hyperbolic with their praise. It's ok to say "I enjoyed this more than Raimi's," but if you say, "OMGGGG I can't even watch Raimi's anymore!!!!1111," that goes into borderline trolling.

I highly, highly doubt this'll touch Raimi's films. At least, for me.

I don't understand, what's wrong with saying I can't watch Raimin's films anymore? That's kinda happened to me with certain films - I don't understand what's so trollish about that.

Eh, I don't know, it has to do with calling it unwatchable, and I think that's a little harsh even if you don't like/love Raimi's films. They've aged? Sure. They're unwatchable? Er...

You damn right! I've seen too many movies to stay.

I'm no p***y, but, man oh man, whatever the hell I witnessed last night was not man-made. Something came out of my backyard canal, and I ain't going back until I know what I'm dealing with or someone hooks me up with Halo weapons.

So someone isn't allowed to love TASM so much that watching SM1 just isn't the same for them?

I'll try not to like Rises too much lol.
