It is the same as if you were going to use the term Movies to represent a Movie Theater. You would say "I go to the Movies" instead of "I go to Movies". Yes, you are using Movies to be the same as a Movie Theater, but unless you going to replace "Movies" and say "I go to Movie Theaters", you have put the definite article "the" before Movies.

Same concept with University representing School.

I have an English degree and there is nothing wrong with saying: I'm in University. As Apprentice said, there is no reason one should be able to write "I go to school" and "I go to college" but not "I go to University".

It's most likely just a cultural difference, because (as Byrd learned) there is a difference between college and university up here.

In either case, however, you will be torn to pieces for using I in an academic paper.

If you are an English major you should know about indefinite and definite articles then.

For some reason the English government seems to disagree with you.

Yes, I know all about them and their correct usage.

If you must insert a definite article in front of University, why don't you enlighten the rest of us as to why one is not needed in front of school or college?

School, college and university are all nouns that are used in the same way. Apply the same logic to each of them. Otherwise, don't mind the looks people give you when you finish telling them: "I go to the university."

*shoots shotgun in the air*

Okay, ****ers. Less *****ing. Get back to writing. :cmad:

If Feature had a vagina, I'd marry him.

Who needs a vagina? We're from Canada, baby! It's legal! No need to keep our passion secret... :cwink:

I don't want to think about to canucks ****ing. There'd be maple syrup and ice skates as far as the eye could see.

We just slip into our igloos, turn on the hockey, and make with the manlovin' on top of our moose-skin carpet.

I've already got the plaid shirts and beercap.

Well, we've reached 1,000 posts, and I personally don't think there could be a better note to reach it on... but that's just me. :D

So, anywone want to take a guess as to what time it is?

THE ULTIMATE DC AWARDS
Best Hero: Superman (Spike_x1) - Spike may usually play villains, but he's got a excellent grasp on the Man of Steel. From the fight scene with Blackrock to the fantastic Brainiac/OMAC arc, Superman is perfectly portrayed in a way that is faithful to the original, but also kind of edged off by a subtle Ultimate feel.
Honourable Mention goes to: Batman (Master Bruce), The Atom (MST3K 4ever)

Best Villain: The Joker (Master Bruce) - playing Batman and the Joker at the same time must be a challenging thing to do, but MB pulls it off masterfully. Perfectly insane, and clearly set up as a dangerous archenemy for Batman, the arc in which he gathered Gotham's villains was very entertaining. Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Two-Face were also depicted faithfully. Gotham's doing well for villains.
Honourable Mention goes to: Lex Luthor (Andy C.), Blackrock (Spike_x1)

Best "Ultimized" Character: Brother Blood (trustyside-kick) - possibly a more deranged Ultimization. Although Blood is insane in the main DCU, here he's insane. Trusty did a great job of building him up from a weird religious fanatic to a crazed, murderous supervillain. His confrontation with Hawkman was the highlight of this, for me.
Honourable Mention goes to: Hawkman (SenseiofCheese), Jim Gordon (Byrd Man)

Best Character Development: Lex Luthor (Andy C.) - I'm not sure that this award truly fits in this category, but I had to throw a vote in for this character somewhere. Andy plays him very, very well. The fight with Giganta was very entertaining, and it's good to see Lex playing deceiver and hero at the same time. His speech to the press about Superman was particularly good, as you could actually see where he was coming from; it'll be exciting to see the fallout of that.
Honourable Mention goes to: Jim Gordon (Byrd Man), The Atom (MYST3K 4ever)

Best Story Arc: I honestly can't decide. Almost all of them have been enjoyable to read.

Best Multi-Chararacter Player: Byrd Man (Jim Gordon, Kid Flash, Martian Manhunter) - Byrd brings some great new elements to every character he plays. His Gordon/Untouchables storyline is great, as is his chemistry with GL's Flash as Wally. I can't wait to see what he'll do with J'onn.
Honourable Mention goes to: Andy C. (Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Bizarro World), Master Bruce (Batman, The Joker, Green Lantern)

Best Post: I can't pick a best post, but this one gets special props for obvious reasons:

Goodbye.

Us am no Bizarro-World.

Earth no think, so us do.

Us do opposite.

Am no very hot inside space. It no been very short time since us no was pushed in from wormplace. Now us am no orbiting around blue sun, with everything to do all day.

Us am no bored.

Then us no see something going away towards us, very very slowly. Us can no sense thing in space as it no talk to nobody else.

"For the glory of Thanagar, this is the deep-space explorer Undaunted reporting in on the aberration spotted in sector 4182. We have spotted an uncharted planetoid in the sector, and are now moving in to investigate."

Them no am wanting to meet us. Us better not make good last impression, so us no send out Bizarro-World's greatest villain. Him no fix their space-thing.

"Attention, attention. There is an unidentified object approaching our vessel from the vicinity of the unknown planet. It's...it's moving inexplicably fast, and...merciful gods, it's coming right for us!"

Us no watch as Bizarro go further away from space-thing. Him no good at fixing things, so him make all Bizarros happy. Him no make these people happy too.

"Repulsor screens have failed, and evasive actions are ineffective. We've got visual...it's alive! It's a creature wearing a red cape and--"

"gOodByE."

"Gods, no! It's breached the reactor! We're all going to---"

Explosion no make everything very dark for a second. Bizarro am fix space-thing. Make friends happy.

"hEllO."

******

Bizarro wave hello to pieces of space-thing, then come back away to home. Millions of other Bizarros no cheer for him, and he no burrow down underground beneath city of Lisoportem, where he no fight for lies and injustice every day.

"bIzaRro, mE am hAtE yOu fOrevEr!" no say Lois when Bizarro tunnel under Daily Planet. Bizarro no poke head above ground to wink and sneer at her.

"bIzArRo, yOu Am bEsT fRieNd!" No say Luthor, dumbest Bizarro of them all, when Bizarro no pass by LexCorp Tower, which no reach hundreds of feet underground.

"mE nO stOp yOu tWiCe aNd foR bAd! lUtHoR nO kiLl yOu iF iT no Am fIrSt tHiNg mE do!"

Bizarro no pick up Luthor and dump him in Arkham Amusement Park, where Joker no sit and cry all day. Him then no save Mahtog City by letting criminals out. Batman no would help, but him shot dead by parents.

After easy night's work of saving disasters from city, Bizarro no head to place where him be all alone...Fortress of Big Crowd.

Here, me no can talk to Bizarro.

"us mAkE nEw fRiEnd toDaY," him no say to me, "us nO fIx sPacE-thInG liKe yOu nO sAy."

"There no be more coming soon,"
me no say back. "Them am want be our friends. We no should go to them planet and make them happy."

"yEs, yOu aM wRoNg. uS nO mAke sPacE fRiEndS hApPy."

No soon later, Bizarro-World begin no moving, tracing signal of space-thing to where it no come from. Us no go back through wormplace to get there slower. Us surprise space-friends, fix planet after they even known us no am there.

Us make everyone happy.

Us do opposite.

Hello.

MVP: For me, it's between Master Bruce and Byrd Man. They can fight for it. :oldrazz:

THE ULTIMATE DC AWARDS
Best Hero: James Gordon (Byrd Man): Handling a team of NPC's is hard enough, but handling a team with a leader like Ultimate Gordon is a whole different ballpark. Byrd, of course, pulls it off masterfully.

Best Villain: The Joker (Master Bruce): As a fellow Joker player, I can appreciate someone who really makes the sonuvab**** a threat. I guess on some level, I was inspired to play The Joker after reading MB's version.

Best "Ultimized" Character: Bizarro (Andy C.): In one post, I'm already confident in the direction Andy is taking this. His post may have confused the Hell out of me, but that's the point of Bizarro.

Best Character Development: Batman (Master Bruce): How the Hell do you develop Batman any further? Beats me. That's why MB gets this award. Somehow, he has developed Batman - which is a feat in and of itself.

Best Story Arc: Can I be predictable and say Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman vs. Brainiac (Spike_x1/Master Bruce/Andy C.)?

Best Multi-Chararacter Player: Too many to choose.

THE ULTIMATE DC AWARDS

Best Hero:
Spike_x1 as Superman. He's got a great handle on the \S/-mythology, plays the Clark/Lois relationship excellently, and writes some really kickass action sequences. The Man of Steel should be the guy to look up to, and Spike has delivered on all counts.

Best Villain: Master Bruce as the Joker. The guy writes some pretty sick stuff, but even beyond the shock-and-splatter sequences, there's a genuine love for the character there. MB just plain gets the Joker, which may be a little disturbing in and of itself.

Best "Ultimized" Character: MST3K_4Ever as Giganta. It's a pretty far departure from the old mutated-gorilla origin, and MST really makes it work. I can't wait to get WW to confront her.

Best Character Development: Byrd Man as Jim Gordon. As is the case with most RPGs, a lot of the human characters tend to get ignored in favor of the super-types. Byrd has taken a guy who almost always shows up solely as a support role and made him just as much of a hero as the Dark Knight himself.

Best Story Arc: The Brainiac/OMAC invasion was a blast to play out, and I got to work with some of my favorite posters again.

Best Multi-Chararacter Player: Master Bruce as Batman, the Joker, and Green Lantern. Playing your own arch-enemy can sometimes be a little self-indulgent, but MB writes the two with such ingrained antipathy, you can't help but buy the fact that the two genuinely hate each other. The switching between first- and third-person really helps, too. He's made Hal his own, as well, and I really hope he doesn't drop him; we gotta have someone doing space adventures and whatnot.

Best Post: I'll get back to y'all on that.

Best Newcomer: Tough one, but I'm gonna go with Senseiofcheese. His Hawkman is a badass.

MVP: This is another tough one, but I'm going to go with Byrd Man.

THE ULTIMATE DC AWARDS

Best Hero: Hourman/Rex Tyler (Feature)
I'm not really a JSA buff, by any means, and I'm barely even a fan. But Feature's engaging portrayl of this character has made me appreciate Hourman much more. That's the definition of a good hero in an RPG, to me, and Feature delivered. Can't wait to see him actually become the hero he's destined to be.

Best Villain: The Riddler (Eddie Brock Jr.)
As a self proclaimed expert on Batman mythology, I've got to say, EBJ really surprised me with this one. His portrayl of a down and out Edward Nigma seeking revenge for being outsmarted and humiliated breathed new life into a character that could've been done very ridiculously. EBJ perfectly captured his obsession with mental achievement and impossible puzzles, mixed in with an ego the size of Jupiter. By far, this was one of Eddie's best characters.

Best "Ultimized" Character: Blackrock (Spike_x1)
It's hard playing a nemesis to your own character... I should know. But Spike has made Peter Silverstone as interesting and as exciting as the iconic hero Spike also portrays with skill. His Blackrock is the personification of what can happen when the superpowerful get lost in their own vengeful needs, and he only proves his skills further by playing the polar opposite of that in Clark Kent, one of the most selfless heroes of them all. Well done, man.

Best Character Development: Captain James Gordon (Byrd Man)
This is kind of personal for me, because all through last season, I was the only one to really utilize Gordon. But the moment Byrd took him over, he made a character I payed very little attention to and shaped him into one of the biggest badasses of the UDCU. He combines all of the good elements of Gordon's past and present, and brings in his own unique take of a fearless cop fighting against a hopeless city's evil. Byrd has proven that Gordon doesn't need The Caped Crusader to get the job done.

Best Story Arc: The Untouchables (Byrd Man, Green Lantern)
Reading this is like reading an arc out of Gotham Central. 'Nuff said.

Best Multi-Chararacter Player: Andy C. (Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Bizarro)
Whether it's a corperate mogul, an Amazonian princess, or an entire race of intellectually starved monstrosities, Andy plays them all with a skill that makes me envious. His love for DC is obvious in each character he plays, and his level of skill makes him a valuble asset to this RPG. I simply cannot wait for the next few seasons, given what I know of his bigger plans.

Best Post: I'll jump on the bandwagon and say, Us am no Bizarro World.

Best Newcomer: SenseiofCheese

MVP: I honestly can't decide. You all make me so proud of the fact that I made this RPG. :O

Holy unexpected award, Batman! I hardly expected such praise for Riddler. Maybe I'll reprise the role some day. But I'll need a good reason and plan for it.

Hey gang just to let you all know I will be on vacation until Jan.1 so until then keep things moving along at whatever pace you all choose...and I am looking forward to picking things up when I get back.

Until then.......Happy Holidays!!!!

To you too, MYST3K.

There's some development for John and Dick Grayson. Plus, it gives me an excuse to make a yuletide post - a luxury I've only had in a handful of RPG's.

Dammit, MB! I get done making a tiny bit of character development, then you overshadow it with another epic Batman post! :cmad:

By the way, you've inspired me to come up with an epic Riddler return plot.

Got my last post in for the year, with a bit of a teaser with what I've got in store for the near future. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and see you folks in '08!
