Even in the video game this is addressed when Connors tells Peter that there is something in his blood that prevented him from becoming more spider than man like the other cross species transformations.

To tell you the truth, I didn't even know that thread existed, I'm not lying. I just thought the title "The Untold Untold Story" made sense. I wasn't trying to plagiarize because I never knew.
