Spielberg should direct the sequel!

Hell no...keep Michael Bay. It's his movie, his baby now, let him make a sequel and hopefully a second sequel.

Besides, Spielberg would have focused more on the characters and have less action.

nah...I think Bay is the man to direct it. but Spielberg certainly should continue as producer.

Ive never watched the transformers cartoon,
I never played with the toys as a child,
and I didnt look at any threads about transformers before now.

But eariler today I saw the film, and it was so great!
It started oddly though, because I didnt know what Optimus Prime sounded like, so I wasnt expecting the booming voice at the beginning that scared the bejesus out of me! Luckily for me I got used to it though!:woot:

Somethimes the script was a bit clunky, but the hilarious moments far overshadowed any dodgy parts, and the CGI was incredible, there were some really jaw-dropping moments, like where (the decepticon that's a jet, but not megatron..) is jumping on all the other jets and shooting them down, and where Optimus Prime is fighting that other one on the highway.
Oh yeah, and bumblebee is adorable! Definitly my favorite character.

Welcome the the world of The Transformers...'where things are not what they seem!'

lol XD

Im glad I got to see it early, because now I can see it again if I want, which I certainly will!

If they make a sequel though, I hope they make the decepticons more distinguisable from each other. It was easy to tell the autobots apart because they're such bright colours, but in most of the fight scenes I didnt know whether I was looking at blackout or barricade, etc.

Because it is a bad thing...less action, more character-related situations...he'll probably have Arcee come in and have her and Optimus Prime be in a relationship.

 Umm no.

Is it really that difficult to add a little development to the TF's? Back story events and stuff?

The berg would be idea to replace bay if bay need to be replaced...but this film has feel about it now...a texture...changing that now would be like going from Terminator 2 to Terminator 3, VISUALLY that is...

no one apart from maybe R.Scott(who is a painter himself) and Camron who has a huge visual range can produce bay like visuals in my opinion

if more character work is the issue...the answer is simple...berg needs to produce a script that has more of that...

i love that some ppl think it comes down to a directer who's done only character work in the past to bring character to this story...

those ppl would no doubt tell the same story, but with a far less visual scope

for example

RonHoward on Transformers....
(same maybe slower story beats....lame yet very clear action)
directors don't just pull that stuff out of thin air...

Above-average entertainment, not enough like the comics and animated series in terms of character designs, dialogue, alternate modes and characterizations. Not only a very unfaithful adaptation, but full of plotholes, offensive dialogue and needless subplots.

Definitely could have waited for DVD to see it.

2 1/2 out of 4 stars.

A more detailed review will be posted later detailing my likes and dislikes of the film.

I'm glad Bay will direct the sequel. He did a great job on the first. The only problem I have with Bay is his zoom in action shots. He seems to direct comedy very well.

This movie is an embarrasment in almost every way. with each passing year it will be more and more despised, not just because it was'nt true to the source but because it is simply tacky and lacking heart.

I think your referring to SR, right?

Probably upset that Optimus didn't have a big rock to fight or to carry to save the world

oohh Yeah, maybe in the sequel, will have optimus coming back to Elita one with a baby bot, and he didn't even know about it. That'll really make a great story telling. And will make optimus lift an Island too, called the dinobot island. Yeessss.
