The Winter Soldier The Winter Soldier Thread

WS has a lot of untapped potentials. He is such a tragic figure and Sebastian played him so well. While I can't wait to see how his character unfold in CAP 3, I really want to see a spin-off. It can be a lower budget movie or tv series. That brief flashback scene leaves so much room to explore.

While he definitely can be fleshed out, I feel that he won't have the same "badass" factor that he had in TWS. We now know who he is, and he also presumably won't be a ruthless, extremely efficient killer like he was under
H.Y.D.R.A.

Nevertheless, I'm sure the Russos know how to handle him. :woot:

It'll be interesting to see what the Russos do with the Winter Soldier in Cap 3. IMO, he worked best as a mysterious, lethal killer. Now the mystery and shock factor is gone, and I highly doubt he will be a killing machine without H.Y.D.R.A controlling him.

It's gonna be nigh impossible to top what they did in TWS for Bucky.

Not really, Bucky can still be a valuable asset much like he is in the comics. TWS can be a covert agent for the CIA or even better he can be an ally of Fury. Heck he may try to write the wrongs he did much like Jason Bourne.

What I'd kind of love to see opening the scene in Cap 3 is Sam/Steve finding their search for Bucky intersecting the CIA (on a mission led by Sharon) tracking down Bucky to a HYDRA cell in Europe, where Bucky's pretty much single-handedly destroying everything on his search for information and revenge.

I think, that way, you still get WS' badassery, but aimed at the bad guys. He can snap all the necks in that case ;)

I think it would be great if the opening sequence of Cap 3 starts with Bucky in some creepy, abandoned underground lair, discovering his past.

i love your idea! it is great!

You are right! ws can still show badassery! Aimed at bad guys of course!
I am not sure if hydra will still be relevant in cap3.
if they are still around, you can be damn sure bucky is gonna try to take them down ( show badassery in the process ).
He will be having lot of guilts after he found out what he was!

Agreed

It was interesting to me that they made a point of showing that Fury's going off by himself to Europe, because it made me think they've left an opening where he'll end up finding Bucky first, either accidentally or on purpose. Before Steve and Sam catch up with him, that is. It wouldn't surprise me considering Bucky started working with Fury pretty quickly in the comics (even before he was ready to reconnect with Steve). I'm sure if that happened it would play out a little differently in the MCU because Bucky's not recovered and also he nearly killed Fury which is bound to be a point of tension between them... Lol not that Fury's going to hold it against him and he's already shot the guy who was really responsible, but it'll still be interesting to see how they interact.

But anyways I can see them possibly having Fury and Bucky coming across each other and Fury sees that Bucky's trying to recover his memories by tracking down old Hydra connections in Europe or something, and he convinces Bucky that they can help each other. And then eventually he'll contact Steve about it. (or maybe he'll wait too long and Steve will catch up and get annoyed that he didn't call him the second he found Bucky lol)

Of course this all depends on how much of Fury hunting down Hydra they plan to show in AoU and how much they're saving for Cap 3. Or if they even intend to bring Fury back for Cap 3? (I hope they do)

On another note I'd also really love it if Natasha found Bucky first and they included more concrete hints of their back story into Cap 3 somehow. :)

I love how they brought the bionic arm from the comics and unto flesh and blood it pretty impressive the detail and accuracy .

Yeah, they couldn't have done a better job. It was executed so well, I can't praise them enough.

His metal arm looks like it was modeled after Thor's :D

He was such a great villain. I thought the movie was a complete drag anytime he wasn't on screen. He's so badass, very very terminator like. The hand to hand combat with Capt. America was amazing

I thought Sebastian Stan was great. But I'm really going to miss the long hair if it's cut for his next appearance! He looks great with it.

Definite no to cutting his hair. It would be as drastic as taking away his metal arm. And I'm only half joking.

I like ws's long hair. For some reason in the comics when he had a haircut he suddenly looked all sean conneryish. Nothing wrong with that but the long hair looks good

From an article Freshman put up on the site that shall not be named:

What's the story behind the fact that Stan has the raccoon eyes in some images but didn't in the movie? Did they change their minds about the makeup and have to go back to reshoot?

Didn't he have the makeup in the scene when his mask comes off and steve recognizes him?

Only time he had the eye makeup in the final movie was the rooftop scene at night after he's shot Fury and he catches Cap's shield.

Found these in another site. Enjoy you Sabastian Stan worshippers:
