I was reading a story in National Geographic about Somalia and it hit me. I know why the OT Stormtroopers are so terrible at their job. After the rise of the Galatic Empire, much of the galaxy fell into a state of dystopia, more or less. Money squandered in the war effort of the PT, and then in the war against the Rebel Alliance broke lots of the big businesses. The Galactic Empire became the galaxy's best employer.

They needed warm bodies and the disenfranchised civilians needed a way to vent their anger toward the Rebel Alliance and/or put bread on the table. So they start training as Stormtroopers. Their instuctors are equally disillusioned with the state of the Galactic Empire, so their training isn't up to snuff. Propaganda and witch hunts are what keep the general public afraid of Stormtroopers who're terrible shots.

Well that and getting humans to kill other humans is incredibly hard to do. It requires literally de-humanizing the enemy to make it more palpable to shoot them.

So a combination of poorly or under-trained soldiers who don't want to kill other people is to blame although ironically they are easier to kill because they are de-humanized by wearing those stormtrooper helmets.

I always wondered that about Stormtroopers. In the prequels we found out where they came from & also the genetic source too (Jango Fett). They were capable of doing more athleticism & more intelligence, but somewhere in between episodes 3 & 4 something occurred that made Stormtroopers more slow & somewhat clumsy.

QOS... I try to forget that film even exists. No where near as compelling or as well done as either CR or SKYFALL. But... each Bond has a few very week films. So... Mulligan on that one.

QOS has some terrible editing. The action had potential to be really cool, but the cuts were bad.
