I bring my sword around once more, the blade slicing through the air easily, and then through the throat of the minotaur just as easily. Blood spills in gushes as the beast falls to his knees in the sand. I clean my blade as I watch it die dispassionately. How this beast made it to the shores of Themyscira, I do not know.

I do not care either, as he… it killed two young women. That alone granted it no mercy from me.

A loud, sudden BOOM erupts behind me, signaling that my work is not yet done. I turn to face this new disturbance.

“Hera…” the oath escapes from my throat as my hand grips my sword tighter.

A veritable army of beast-men springs forth from the open portal, which resembles an Apokaliptan Boom Tube, each wielding weaponry that seemed to hail from another world, and at their back, directing this bestial charge…

“Circe.”

Umm... also, aside from the burst of magic near Fawcett and her assault on Themyscira, Circe's done nothing that'll attract mystical attention yet.

Not to step on your toes or anything, but you seem to be NPCing everyone under the sun, and since Zatanna's involvement might muck up my plans if used liberally (which I wouldn't mind if she was a PC), I'll have to ask that you limit her input as an NPC, please.



Any way, the bombs have gone off, there are roughly millions of bestiamorphs rioting across the country now. Feel free to deal with those in the other cities how you want (number-wise, where the bomb was, even if any metahumans were affected). Feel free to ignore it as well. Grodd will be waiting in DC. Circe will be dealt with by Diana.

Ya, J'adore, even though this is an RPG and the unexpected is expected to happen the heroes suddenly knowing that Circe is involved is just a bit much. Granted there are beastiamorphs involved but you just had those NPCs landing and Barbara so quickly figures it out.

At this point, figuring out what the plan is is moot. A quick call to Diana would confirm that Circe's there and Grodd just publicly arrived in D.C.

Personally, I'm more worried about overuse of NPCs. That's part of why I signed up as Diana, because I initially was intending to NPC her, but it came that her part was too big for an NPC, so I applied for her.

To be fair to J'adore, that's what Barbara does. She's the direct link to many of the heroes of the DCU and it' her job to call in as many of them as she can in the event of a crisis. Use of NPC's when playing Oracle is kind of an unavoidable aspect of that character.

None, but one of the best archers in the world. Hand-to-hand combat training.

Years before Oliver Queen would become Green Arrow, he was inspired to take up archery by the amazing archer, Merlyn "the Magician." Once Green Arrow began to become famous, the two met again, as Merlyn challenged the hero to a public archery contest and defeated him. With that victory under his belt, Merlyn vanished for years, only to resurface as a member of the League of Assassins. Merlyn and Green Arrow faced again as Merlyn tried to fulfill a contract to assassinate Batman. Green Arrow was able to deflect one of Merlyn's arrows with an arrow of his own, saving Batman's life. Merlyn admitted that Green Arrow had become the better archer, but escaped before he could be captured.

Ever since Merlyn has been a freelance assassin for hire working with several villainous groups along the way and his obsession with Green Arrow has marked the Emerald Archer as a frequent target from time to time.

I was hired by Talia Al Ghul to retrieve your kid. Been a short while since I've worked with or for the League, but a contract is a contract. I'm getting 50 grand for this little snatch. 5 went over to Calculator to help me pinpoint the kid faster. Sucks but 45 is plenty for me for a job as simple as this.

"Calculator...Calculator come the heck in."

"Something wrong, Arthur? Your tone isn't the most--"

"Who the hell is this guy with the kid and The Bat. She didn't say anything about a third likely to be present."

"Concerned are you? My job was to pinpoint where Damian was; that is what you paid me to do. If you want me to hack into one of the satellites again to get a look from above, it's going to cost you another $5,000."

"That b*tch. She probably hired more than one person for the job."

There was an unknown player thrown into the mix. The odds that she hired another to do the job slaps my career streak in the damn face. Could've paid Noah another $5,000 to find out who but this storm is a freakin' pain and the sooner I get the kid back to Talia the sooner I collect the rest of my money. So I turn off my commlink to Calculator and ready an arrow. Besides, who the heck cares. I've got a clean shot.

He's just a nobody in the end. I was hired to capture Damian but not kill Batman.

Don't know why but in my line of work you don't have to know all the details as to why I cannot kill the Bat.

But she didn't say anything about our mystery friend here.

I'm taking him out. Don't need a distraction.

This is it.

This is when I will finally be rid of him.

As I'm running, I wear a smile on my face.

I'm finally going to do it.

My first shot is fired, and I start to move in. Damn, the bastard isn't completely down. Alright, a tough guy huh? We've got the remedy for that.

Two more arrows dig into my shoulders and the last hits my spine. I stumble forward and Bruce catches me. I look at him, an expression of pure shock over his face as my hand reaches up to him.

That finally puts the bastard down. I leap over to another rooftop that still hits higher than the one Batman and Talia's kid is. I ready my aim, and now it I can finally get down to business. I let loose another arrow, purposely missing my target as it whizzes past Batman's face. Like the smart man I know he is he turns his head my way.

Sure hope my smile shines through this rain his way.

"Bats. I don't know the entire story and I do not really care. A job is a job and I'm getting paid a good amount for something so simple. You don't look too hot right now. So hows about you step aside, and let me bring Talia back her little pup."
