Think of it as a live action comic book each week with over the top storylines and personalities with good guys and bad guys with huge muscles and bright costumes who solve their dispute through violence

Major Rumored Spoilers For No Way Out Tonight
02/17/2008 by Ryan Clark
spacer.gif

Tonight, WWE presents their final Pay-Per-View before WrestleMania XXIV - NO WAY OUT 2008. With 3 title matches, 2 Elimination Chambers and what could be Ric Flair's final match, this is sure to be a huge night for WWE fans. Based on various reports from a number of reliable sources, here's a look at what to expect tonight:

While WrestleMania XXIV will likely be Ric Flair's final match, there is still a chance Mr. Kennedy could defeat Flair tonight to end his career. A possible scenario that's been reported is that Ric Flair would lose tonight to Kennedy and then come back in a few weeks to beg Mr. McMahon for a chance to have his real last match take place on the big stage of WrestleMania. This one could go either way.

As we reported earlier, Rey Mysterio's health is still up in the air. Last week he injured his right bicep muscle and underwent testing to determine whether the muscle is torn. A tear would require surgery and keep him out of action for up to 6 months. If the injury is less severe than a tear, he could be healthy much sooner than that. Either way, we can confirm that an injury angle has been discussed this weekend within WWE to give Rey time off to recover. Look for Edge to retain the gold tonight.

With Edge expecting to retain the World Heavyweight Title, look for The Undertaker to win the SmackDown/ECW Elimination Chamber match to earn a title shot at WrestleMania. WWE has been planning Edge vs. The Undertaker for quite some time and the Rated R Superstar's title vs. the Phenom's WrestleMania winning streak will make for one hell of a draw.

The most likely main event for WrestleMania will be John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Triple H for the WWE Championship. Triple H should win the RAW Elimination Chamber match tonight, securing his WWE title shot at WrestleMania. Tonight's Orton vs. Cena match could go either way, but don't be surprised to see a controversial finish where the loser of that match and Triple H will both claim they are the #1 contenders for the title next month.

No real surprises there aside from Kennedy beating Flair and Shelton getting involved in the ECW World Title picture. Personally, I'd like to see the Triple Threat at Mania.

Kurt Angle Loses IWGP Title, Destination X Update, Toys
02/17/2008 by Ryan Clark

Kurt Angle lost his version of the IWGP title last night in Japan when he was defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura. Angle won the title when he defeated Brock Lesnar on an IGF show back in June of 2007.

Marvel Toys has cancelled their only other toy line The Legendary Comic Book Heroes so there is a good chance that the TNA line could be done as well. This means we may not get anymore TNA action figures until Jakks takes over in 2010.

Ticket sales for Destination X in Norfolk, VA seem to be a bit better then sales were for Against All Odds. According to Ticketmaster.com rows 1-5 are already sold out. On the day of Against All Odds 2nd row was still available.

Heh, so Kurt FINALLY dropped that strap and I think Nakamura was quite possibly the best possible choice, the man's amazing to watch.

I asked Sage to start the new thread for the lead into Wrestlemania.

There are the characters, some of which you find interesting and compelling depending on how good the performer sells it. There are the storylines that can be fun and interesting. Then there's the athletics behind. Granted, it is pre-determined and scripted, but quite a bit what you see does hurt. Men do train to learn to take bumps, fall, and even get hit for real at times. There is a bit of an art to it, to make what's not real appear to be real. Wrestlers are like stuntmen, except they don't get to do more than one take.

Well put.

I can see Cena/Orton ending in a double DQ kind of way if they're gonna do a triple threat at WM...

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena
I'm expecting a fantastic match here in what should have been the WM24 main event. I think Cena wins but Orton will cash in his rematch so we get the ****ty triple threat.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

Sadly this will be similar to the HBK/Orton match at Judgement Day, Edge wins obviously.

ECW Championship Match
Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. CM Punk

Punk has had the upper hand in the entire feud, Chavo sneaks the win in a match that has a chance to be good since it will now have even more time.

SmackDown/ECW Elimination Chamber Match
Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. Finlay vs. Batista vs. The Undertaker vs. MVP
Should be a good brawl but with some major slow down unless they book Khali and V well apart and eliminate one before the other enters. Taker is a surefire winner.

RAW Elimination Chamber Match
Jeff Hardy vs. JBL vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H vs. Umaga
With the caliber of performers and all the mini stories i expect this to be awesome, maybe the best EC since the first...sadly HHH will win unless the WWE pull a massive surprise for the 2nd PPV in a row and have Jeff go over.

Career Threatening Match
Ric Flair vs. Ken Kennedy
If the Batista/Flair news is true i hope Kennedy wins, the match should be solid and have plenty of emotion, i still expect Flair to somehow win.

Can I ask you guys something and I don't mean to be a smart ass, I'm just curious.

Why do you watch wrestling? I mean, what is fun about watching a scripted sporting event in which the results are pre-determined, that focuses on guys in spandex, covered in grease, having stupid gimmicks like an irish midget or a zombie FAKING to beat one another up?

Why do you watch Heroes, Lost or any other scripted TV show or Hollywood blockbuster? I mean a guy in red spandex that shoots webs fighting a guy made out of sand!?

Not trying to be a smartass, but it's the exact same thing, most ppl just convince themselves wrestling is somehow different from their favorite shows. I get a bigger rush tho being in a sea of ten thousand ppl, all cheering and electrified as someone like Jeff Hardy jumps from 50 feet onto someone flipping the whole way down than I do watching an actor doing a 2 foot camera trick fall onto a mattress from a cgi mist monster.

Why? We just find it entertaining.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Sadly this will be similar to the HBK/Orton match at Judgement Day, Edge wins obviously.
.

There is no way it could be that bad ............i hope

Heh, so Kurt FINALLY dropped that strap and I think Nakamura was quite possibly the best possible choice, the man's amazing to watch.
I think the match was to unify Angle's title with New Japan's top title, which Nakamura currently has.

And No Way Out predictions (winners in bold):

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena
Supercena wins, and a triple threat happens at Wrestlemania.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Edge retains. The match probably won't be long since Mysterio is injured.

ECW Championship Match
Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. CM Punk
Chavo gets a heelish win. I speculate that Punk will move to Smackdown fairly soon, since there isn't a whole lot else he can do in ECW.

SmackDown/ECW Elimination Chamber Match
Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. Finlay vs. Batista vs. The Undertaker vs. MVP
I would bet a large sum of money on this outcome.

RAW Elimination Chamber Match
Jeff Hardy vs. JBL vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H vs. Umaga
Same as above.

Career Threatening Match
Ric Flair vs. Ken Kennedy
I don't think Flair will lose until Wrestlemania.

Plus if you mention guys in spandex then be even handed and mention the girls in spandex. WWE has some very hot ladies in thongs wrestling in pillow fights, mud, strip poker and live sex cellebration for that. Their hot enough that occasionally one is put in playboy.

Unless they surprise us with Jeff this a pretty predictable PPV

and well since there's no Maria pics in this thread yet

Yeah, the stupid gimmicks make up the majority of professional wrestling in its entirety. Or maybe I'm forgetting the time Nick Bockwinkel wrestled Verne Gange...yeah they were dressed up as a spaceman and a cowboy, respectively. How silly of me to forget. :whatever:

So then what's entertaining about action movies, Matt? Action movies involve colorful characters fake beating up one another, which comes to a scripted conclusion. Yeah, action movies are totally lame.

Well, you said it better than I did.

No Way Out Predictions:

WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Randy Orton - For me there's no doubt that Cena will regain the title he relinquished due to injury at the hands of Randy Orton; Orton will probably devistate Cena with an RKO but Cena will kick out and use the **** on Orton to get the submission victory.
__________

World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs. Rey Mysterio - After what happened at the end of the February 15th edition of SmackDown, I think Rey Mysterio will beat Edge for the title; at the beginning of the match, both men will have control over one another, both men hungery for redemption, then finally at the end of the match it will look as if Mysterio will walk away with the title but then the Edgeheads/Chavo Guerrero will come down and try to get Edge disqualified but Rey Mysterio will hold them/him off for just enough time to pick up the win and become the new World Heavyweight Champion after delivering the 619, climbing the turnbuckle, and then delivering the Frog Splash(via Eddie Guerrero) to Edge. I know that it seems a bit too good to be true but what I notice about when an opponent attacks an ally to their opponent's party they usually have a better chance of coming out on top.
__________

Career Threatening Match: Ric Flair vs. Mr. Kennedy - I think that it's pretty obvious that Flair's career isn't going to end at No Way Out(WrestleMania 24 is the most likely place); this match will be a back-and-forth match, when the end is near, Mr. Kennedy will try to beat Flair with the Mic Check but Flair will reverse with a drop-toe hold and lock in the figure-four leg-lock and get the submission victory over Kennedy to keep his career alive.
__________

ECW Championship: CM Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero - A little too early for Chavo to lose the title; like Flair vs. Kennedy this will be a back-and-forth match(but probably be a bit shorter then Flair vs. Kennedy), Chavo will reverse the GTS into a quick roll-up to get the victory over CM Punk.
__________

SmackDown/ECW Elimination Chamber Match(Winner Recieves World Heavyweight Title Shot at WrestleMania 24): Batista vs. MVP vs. Finlay vs. Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. The Undertaker - Taker(apart from maybe Batista or possibly Finlay) is the man who will walk out of the Elimination Chamber as the number-one contender; Batista will eliminate MVP, The Great Khali will eliminate Big Daddy V, Finlay will eliminate The Great Khali, The Undertaker will eliminate Finlay, the final two remaining superstars will be The Undertaker and Batista, this one-on-one battle will likely run from 4-7 minutes long(maybe longer), it will end with The Undertaker trying to lock in that new submission move on Batista but he will escape out of it but Taker will quickly grab him and beat Batista with the Tombstone Piledriver to get the pin-fall victory.
__________

RAW Elimination Chamber Match(Winner Recieves WWE Title Shot at WrestleMania 24): Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho vs. Umaga vs. JBL vs. Shawn Micheals - All four of the 'clean' superstars(Triple H, Hardy, Jericho, Micheals) all had shots at Orton before(most recent Orton vs. Hardy), although there is a better chance of Triple H coming out on top, I'm still hoping Hardy will win, he deserves to at least be in the main event of WrestleMania for once as all of these superstars(apart from Umaga) have been before, also, Cena(who is most likely to win the title) has faced all of these opponents for the WWE Title before(apart from Jericho and/or Hardy); Chris Jericho will eliminate JBL, Umaga will eliminate Chris Jericho, Triple H will eliminate Umaga, Jeff Hardy will eliminate Shawn Micheals, the two remaining superstars(Hardy and Triple H) will battle in singles competition, the one-on-one match-up will run from 5-10 minutes with Jeff Hardy once again proving that he can indeed be main event caliber. Also, the next night on RAW, Triple H will have a new heel change/become a 'dirty' superstar.

WrestleMania 24 Matches:

WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
__________

World Heavyweight Championship: Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker
__________

Money in the Bank Ladder Match(8 Man): Triple H vs. Chris Jericho vs. Umaga vs. Batista vs. Finlay vs. Edge vs. CM Punk vs. Shelton Benjamin
__________

ECW Championship: Chavo Guerrero vs. Kofi Kingston
__________

United States Championship: MVP vs. Matt Hardy
__________

Women's Championship: Beth Pheonix vs. Mickie James
__________

Hell in a Cell: Finlay & Hornswoggle vs. Vince McMahon & Big Show/Shane McMahon
__________

Cruiserweight Championship - Open: Gregory Helms
__________

Career Threatening Match: Ric Flair vs. Shawn Micheals

I'm still convinced Cena wins and we get Cena vs. HHH 2, however you guys are slowly convincing me there could be a three way match. Multiple guesses are cheap, but here's the 3 ways I see it going down -

Cena wins

Orton wins by hiring Big Show to interfere, Cena refuses to accept it and calls Orton out tomorrow, HHH comes out fresh off the EC win and says it's his title shot. Cena and HHH argue, Vince comes out and calls a 2 on 2, Orton and Big Show vs. HHH and Cena. A few weeks later a fed up Vince decides "screw it" and just makes it a 3 way dance. Thus having 2 faces chasing the first guy to not only get Cena's belt, but keep it off of him and a heel to boot.

Cena loses as mentioned above from Orton hiring Big Show. Cena instead sets his sights on revenge on the Big Show leaving things open for Orton vs. HHH. We all know Vince likes to use nostalgia, and what better one to use than the new age Hogan (Cena) vs. the Big Show.
