The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

@Hunter Rider was probably right all along that Cena probably shouldn't have been in a spot like this. However, with Cena's history and importance to WWE, how do you not figure Cena into the biggest most important angle in the company for his last year? That being said, maybe he should've been in there with someone like Logan Paul instead.

The reason being is because Cena has slowed down and lost some steps. He's talked about it himself. He can't be big match John anymore.

I'm curious to see how they follow things up on Raw tonight, there's going to be a lot of talking, I'm guessing Jey opens the show with a 15 minute entrance and then a promo, and Seth and Heyman close the show. I don't know if Cena is scheduled for the show, him not showing up fits the new gimmick.

I expect we'll finally see the implosion of the Judgement Day in the wake of the Dirty one's IC title win, and I'm interested to see how Becky and Lyra fit in. I'm also keen to see what's next for Iyo, and it's only 3 weeks to Backlash so that card needs to start coming together immediately.

It's often a night for returns, I'm hoping we see the return of the Kabuki Warriors and i think Rusev will return to Raw given Aleister Black is going to Smackdown, a Bron vs Rusev program couod be good. Im also hoping Bronson Reed will return and attack Punk to make an impact, perhaps aligning with Seth and Heyman as their enforcer.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Stephanie Vaquer wrestled on the show, like Roxy last year, as she's super over and I think WWE will want to capitalise on that.

Cena is definitely scheduled for tonight.

Cena and the quest for 17 was good enough for the Mania main event as an angle. The issue was execution. Something like Rock vs Hogan wasn't a technical masterpiece, but it got the crowd into it. They could have done the same here, they just....didn't make it work.

If they had to have him in the match they should have added a 3rd person to help carry the load, as its obvious he's well past his best. I dread to think what him vs Orton will be like at Backlash.

Thanks, there's going to be a LOT of talking on Raw.

I don't think we can post it but I love the Drew McIntyre "still bored at work" post.

EDIT:

Karrion Kross just went off on a WWE streaming show. I can't post it here due to language but it was awesome.

I think where I am settling on this Mania is that the show was okay overall, but because the ending was so bad, it's going to be on the bottom end of okay. How you end the show is arguably the most important thing. This main event I am right now debating with myself which of the four match was the worst: Triple H vs Reigns, Brock vs Reigns 34, Reigns vs Undertaker, or this one. Cause....this match might be the worst main event since Miz vs Cena at 27. It's one of those 4 matches getting that honor, but that tells you how bad I thought this was. And I am a Cody guy! But him losing has nothing to do with that, cause him losing here made the most sense story wise. Awful. Simply awful

Just checked it out, from the Battleground podcast, right? Fantastic promo, obviously a work but it's a good progression of his Svengali gimmick, and whether intentional or not, could turn him face.

I haven't seen any of them in truth, when I think of the worst Wrestlemania main events I think Hogan vs Sid at 9, Orton vs Triple H at 25, Cena vs Miz at 27 and Cena vs Rock at 28, that was so crap I never bothered with the rematch.

I’m not feeling that WWE: Unreal show.

That’s doing a little too much.

As an NFL fan, I thought the same thing when "Receiver" debuted. And then they had the Aaron Rodgers mini-doc, which I did not watch at all. And I have not watched Hard Knocks or Inside the NFL in years. I did enjoy Receiver quite a bit though and I am looking forward for season two of Quarterback.

I don't need to watch everything the NFL has that isn't games and I do the same with WWE. I don't watch WWE LFG and have never seen that Rivals show. As much as I like them both, I never watched Montez and Bianca's show.

Watching everything WWE is not required viewing and they are not forcing anybody to watch everything.

Even though I think AEW has gotten better the last few months, I don't watch Collision. Instead I go on Twitch to watch a local promotion called MPX Wrestling. I don't pay attention to the Buy In Pre Shows at all. I plan on going to Dynamite at All In Week in July, but I don't think I will be at All In, which will only be 30 minutes from my house (sans traffic).

I would not put Cena in a match with Logan Paul.

I enjoy wrestling matches more when it's between people I like, as was that Women's World Title Triple Threat. I wasn't going to be upset if anyone won, but Iyo winning was the right call at the end, because she gets a WrestleMania win and a WrestleMania moment. Bianca and Rhea already have Mania moments.

Say what you want about Triple H, he has booked Iyo very well and her losses make sense. She'll lose the title, that is likely, but now her reign goes on a little longer.

Cena vs Rock 2 is worse than Cena vs Rock at 28 was. Rock gets hurt very early into the match and it's very obvious. All good examples you give, and I would add to those Undertaker vs Sid and the McMahon in every corner from Mania 2000 as other really bad ones.

Ha!

And the only highlight of that match was when Stephanie took the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow. The crowd went rabid.

Yep, and then that ending with Vince turning on Rock. Garbage. And then Rock just won it anyway at Backlash the next month. They may as well have had Rock win at Mania at that point. Especially if the title was going to ping pong between the 2 of them like it did anyway

And one last thing about last night's press conference: I rolled my eyes so damn hard when Triple H said that Chyna would get a sole HOF induction 'some day'. These new IWC kids weren't born yet, but I can chiefly say that besides his in-ring skills, Chyna and Stephanie are the two main reasons why Trips was able to have a career.

Chyna beating up the guys on the outside and getting involved as his bodyguard was the only fun part about Triple H's matches when I was growing up.

It's also worse cause there was a time essentially Triple H was our Rock and Austin replacement at the top, and he just wasn't that guy. Triple H was good for what he was, but he got pushed way too hard.
