The Wrestling Thread is now nothing but recaps from last week - Part 71

What a terrible way to end the PPV. That's TWO Lesnar matches, and TWO matches Lesnar has only been in since his return, that had the other guy ending the show.

Props to Triple H for doing the right thing. He could have easily avoided doing a clean job, or jobbing at all for that matter. I hope he retires soon because the creative side is where he has the most to offer the business at this point.

He works with Lil Wayne, which means he's one of the worst performers Lil Wayne has ever worked with.

What happened to the good wrestling PPV themes? Seether, and Saliva had some of the best ones.
i miss promos like these

I'm surprised Punk retained and Brock actually won and I love those decision,Even Jericho won But I have mixed feeling about that one!!

I liked the Cena/Brock match better than the HHH/Brock one, even though HHH actually did the right thing and jobbed clean. The show was really good for the most part, and the boys seemed to have their working boots on.

I hope they do a Daniel Bryan/throat injury angle so we can calm the "yes" thing for awhile. But it has completely become the new "what?"

So who will Aries defend the TNA title against at No Surrender?

It's no near as bad as "What?!". Let's not exaggerate, here.

It hadn't worn out its welcome like the "what?" did. But it's in the same realm that's all I was saying. It's one of those sayings the universe won't let go of.

I am hoping this leads to a Brock/Sheamus match down the road, with Sheamus coming to defend Triple H's honor. It's time for Brock to work with the newer guys who need the rub, not Triple H and Cena. I wanted Punk and Brock to work together, but thats not happening.

Sheamus is close to being a true star, a true top face, but he has yet to face a heel who can kick his ass. A heel that is a bigger, stronger, and meaner than him. Sheamus also needs that career defining win. A fluke win over Cena and a 18 second title win at Mania are not good enough. A win over Lesnar, however......

So, after reading through the last couple of pages, I'm assuming that the Nose/Lesnar match didn't turn out well?

hhh is outside the ring "there's no countouts"
hhh is outside the ring again
now lesner's outside"remember there's no countouts"
now they're both outside the ring "notice the refs not counting"

Jericho vs Ziggler was cool. I don't know why but I like Ziggler a lot. I think that a win over Jericho would have done him good but still, a good match. Ziggler could only benefit of a rub from Jericho.

Show vs Punk vs Cena... On one hand, it was kind of slow. On the other hand, if we're supposed to believe they're really fighting in the ring, well, that's pretty much how men like Punk and Cena would fare against a man like Show, so there's that. The double tap out was an interesting idea, I don't recall seeing it before, so, kudos for creativity. I would have restarted the match too, only without Show since no matter what he was on the losing end of the holds; then I'd have Cena and Punk do their thing and give us an actual match. I'm glad that Punk won but his new heel turn just isn't working well. Which is funny because a few years ago he was an awesome heel.

I skipped HHH vs Lesnar until the end. Well, nobody can say that HHH didn't do the right thing by tapping out to Brock (immediately after a Pedigree no less) but I'm far from convinced that it really matters who won - they are both part-timers past their prime and fame, so overall this feud was kind of pointless either way.

I'd say that's been the story of his career since 2002. He was the best in the business from 2000 to 2001.

That was his best run for sure. But he probably wasn't even in the top three wrestlers in the WWE at that time. Benoit. Jericho and Austin upon his return were beyond amazing.

The Triple H /Lesnar match was as good as it was ever going to be. I have no problems with it because I had no expectations for it. There was some solid psychology involved and the right man won. It was okay, which is exactly what I was expecting.

Not for me, the What chants can be borderline insulting and disrespectful.

Agreed. It was certainly not Steamboat/Savage, but for the type of workers the two men are, the match told the right story.

- Word is that Brock Lesnar won’t wrestle again until the Survivor Series pay-per-view in November. Lesnar still has plenty of dates left on his contract.

- Nobody within WWE expects Triple H to really be retiring from in-ring competition. The feeling is that Triple H still has many matches left. He’s expected to go away for a few months and then come back for a rematch against Brock Lesnar, possibly at Survivor Series.

- We noted before that The Rock vs. John Cena II is a strong possibility for WrestleMania 29 next year. Word is that Vince McMahon is the main one who wants the rematch to take place.

It's like we're stuck in Wrestling's version of hell at the moment.:cmad:

I mean, you could have CM Punk be awesome the way he was a few months, you could have Dolph Ziggler getting a push, and you could even have Daniel Bryan winning a lot of folks over in the crowd with his yes chants, but it seems like none of that is really stopping from the WWE from stooping lower than it is right now.

You have them basically wasting an hour's worth of television screen time on promoting their useless social media outlets, you have them trying to make a kid's show, and you have them doing all of this "anti-bullying" campaign when that's like the opposite of what goes on in the actual business, both in and out of the ring.

I mean, I may not have paid attention to the final years of WCW, but aside from David's win over the WCW title, I feel like we're going back to that dark era, hell, perhaps even worse.

They have these BIG part timers available, and yet they're wasting all of their limited matches on those who don't need it at all.

Man, I think at this point, I truly have given up on the WWE and I'll just switch over to TNA already full time. There's just nothing that the WWE can offer at this moment that's in any form a saving grace for the product.

Yeah it did. I thought it was a fine match but it wasn't as satisfying as watching Brock beat the hell out of Cena, who is the physical manifestation of what McMahon thinks we should want.
