Even with his lack of mic skills Hardy would have been much more effective as a top babyface than Cena. He has always been able to get sympathy from the audience, and he has much more support from the adult male fans.

Jeff Hardy as a character, when he's in control of himself, is cool. Transgressive. Ahead of the curve. Unpredictable without being malicious, you know that whatever the next "big thing" is, Hardy will either be on top of it or standing comfortably next to it.

John Cena is like your friendly, football-playing older brother. You worshipped him when you were a kid, but when you're an older teen or adult, you realize that he's kind of boring and stuck in the past, and you're sick of how your parents still like him more than you.

FYI guys, Best Buy is having the Blu-Ray version of SummerSlam 2012 on sale for $13.99 or $15.99 (it was one of the two prices) until tomorrow night, the 22nd.
.

15.99  I didn't even see the sale advertised. I found out at the counter.

Hardy is really the architect of his own fate. He could have been roughly on par with Cena right now, if he keep himself clean and separate his in-ring character from real life.

He really would of been the top guy. I don't want to make excuses for Jeff but I can see why someone who takes so many risks in the ring would get hooked on painkillers. All his friends seem like enablers. Hopefully Jeff and Matt will stay clean and return to WWE for one last run.

Jeff's popularity comes from the place the most over guys of the last 15 years have gotten their popularity from, they are simply extensions of themselves, being comfortable within how they are portrayed on TV. Fans can sense a phony.

I agree about Jeff and Beth. I looked up this match on yt. It's a basic squash for Xpac with a post match interview with the Outsiders. I think they put this on there for the sole reason of showing nwo Saturday night footage. I'm not familiar with 'The Bounty Hunter' but it's not Ed Leslie ,lol.

Damn, I was hoping to add another name to the Ed Leslie character archives lol. I guess your right, the match is there due to the show it took place on as opposed to their being anything stand-out about the match itself.

The way that paragraph reads doesn't make sense to me either. Hopefully Cara will be able to adapt with Mysterio leading the way. Car should be ready by Mania.

I think they are fighting an uphill battle with Sin Cara, it's typical Vince ignorance to think he can just plug in another Luchadore and voila! he's got a replacement Rey, Rey is unique.

Cena for me is like that funny kid who told you poop and fart jokes when you were ten who you run into now that your as adult who hasn't changed at all. He still find pop and fart jokes funny and wears the exactly the same clothes he did when you were ten.

-Each match in the tournament can be played or simulated.

-The King of the Ring tournament can be played solo or with a friend.

-A special coronation cut-scene is shown for the winner of the tournament."

"I Quit Match:

The I Quit Match is finally making its long awaited return! The match type has been completely redesigned from top to bottom to provide players with the most authentic representation of the I Quit Match ever seen in video game form.
In keeping with WWE programming, the I Quit Match is a 1-On-1, no holds barred, anything goes affair. Utilize anything and everything within the in-ring environment to force your opponent to say the humiliating words, "I Quit!"
When your opponent is in a grounded state, press the pin button to summon the referee to the grounded opponent. The referee will kneel down and place a microphone in front of their face. It’s at this point that the I Quit mini-game is triggered. Stop the moving cursor within the designated target zone before the words “I Quit” fully materialize on screen to inform the referee of your desire to continue the match. If the opponent is unable to complete the mini-game in time, they’ll automatically quit the match. If a Superstar is in possession of a stored finisher icon they can use it to automatically win the mini-game and continue the match. However, doing so will result in the loss of that finisher icon.
When an opponent is in the midst of performing the I Quit mini-game, the attacking Superstar can utilize an Intimidation taunt to increase the difficulty of the mini-game. Performing an Intimidation taunt will cause the mini-game meter to shake violently, which makes it that much harder for the defender to complete the mini-game in time. Use of Intimidation results in a loss of momentum for the attacker so think twice before using it. If the attacker doesn’t have a sufficient amount of momentum within their meter the Intimidation taunt can’t be used.
The I Quit mini-game can also be triggered by applying a Breaking Point submission hold on an opponent. Just like grounded situations, the referee will position themselves near the trapped defender and position the microphone in front of their face. Complete the mini-game successfully to break out of the submission hold and continue the match. Failure to break out in time will result in a loss.

If Punks appeal is as a straight shooting anti hero Jeffs got a rock star appeal which is funny since emotially speaking he doesn't show much personality. Like Hunter said the real him shows in his character and he's a unique person. Follows his own path. Sometimes thats hurt him but its also whats helped him. Its a double edged sword. He's not a wildman like Savage but in some ways he has that same sprit of being a radical element instead of being the estableshment. They both looked like the Vegas strip on acid.

He also has something Cena and even Punk will never have. He's a legitimate holdover from the Attitude Era. Those casual AE fans will always cheer him because to them that era is all that matters. He's old enough to give them a feeling of nostalgia but young enough that he can still go in the ring and appeal to todays kids. he probably appeals to the kids more than Punk and clearly appeals to the adults more than Cena. he could have been THE top guy if Cena wasn't around, or he had his sh** together, or Vince actually felt the need to listen to the audience.
Either way imagine Hardy Punk and Cena as the top three guys in the company all properly utilized. It would have been something for everyone.

Vince really missed the boat and Jeff really messed up something that could have been great. Punk and Cena had magic. Punk and Hardy had magic. Maybe the three of them together could have been something amazing. Its shame Edge's injuries caught up to him because him in that mix would have made it even better.

Cena vs Hardy would have been a big time WrestleMania main event. Could you imagine with amount of hate Cena gets if he turned heel and faced Hardy at WrestleMania? Everyone would have been behind Hardy and booing Cena.

Triple threat Mania match for the title tease right there!

Which I've been saying as well. It won't make the 'Once in a Lifetime' tagline such a joke which WWE has still been pushing with the DVD while Vince still gets a precious meeting between Cena and Rock again, but now adding a (could be) heel CM Punk which will add something else to promos as well if we get a full-on heel which I felt was something that lacked during the build up with Cena/Rock all last year since they were both faces and couldn't build up a solid face vs face dilemma.

Thoughts on SD.
I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. The Bryan/Kane stuff was entertaining to me, especially the opening where Edge and Sandow were involved. Keep in mnd that I haven't been able to watch wrestling in a few weeks, so I'm not burnt out on Bryan/Kane like some of you might be.

It's interesting that we might be getting a midcard stable with some of the guys that HHH likes to feature on NXT. It's cool that WWE is showcasing tag teams more. We saw seeds planted for an IC title feud on RAW, so this is the most focus that the midcard has gotten in awhile.

Cena sold Punk's Rock Bottom way better than Rock's at WM. And no goofy ass jump by Cena that made it look more like chokeslams too.

Thats because Cena and Punk have more natural in ring chemistry than Rock and Cena. Cena also didn't have to worrky about leading the match witha rusty guy. With Punk Punk can dictate the pace and they've worked together enough to anticipate what the other is going to do.

What would explain Miz or R-Truth who were just fine with Rock?

Nice to see Edge again.
