A big teen following is no barometer for how GOOD a film is going to be. Why not have both? There are better teen-caliber writers out there. Shame they couldn't get Whedon, or maybe the writers for Smallville at the very least (although I think that show is pretty much garbage too). Karen Walton and John Fawcett would have been great (the writers of Ginger Snaps).

Ooookay let me explain something... Zak Penn is a good writer, Brett Ratner is a good director... Fox was to blame for The Last Stand so dont write these two off for that.

Secondly for first class to work the movies will have to have the same appeal that Heroes has, Heroes sort of showed the origin of how they got there power and showed how they delt with them, First Class is the origin of the x-men. So the two shows are simular, knowing this and the fact that the cast is all teen except for the few a tv writer seems logical.

I had no idea who Zak Penn was so I just looked him up on IMDB. Out of all the movies he's written, he's only had 3 that sucked (X3, Elektra, F4). I don't think that's enough to say that he's a horrible writer. I personally loved TIH and Behind Enemy Lines and laughed my ass off watching The Grand. Nobody's on their game all the time.

I also have never heard of Josh Schwartz but I'm a big fan of Chuck and I've never watched The OC and GG but they're both successful shows about teenagers, which is what this movie will be about, so I don't see the problem there.

Brett Ratner is a hack. Everything that dude has been ****. I liked Money Talks when I was 12 but I can't imagine I had the best judgement back then.

It's pretty much known that despite being uncredited, Ed Norton was not happy with Penn's TIH script, and rewrote it.

I think Josh Swartz knows his comics though. I only watched the 1st series of the OC, but he made one of the main characters a comic book geek and had lots of comic book refs in the show, so here's hoping.

Yup, one of my favorite lines was when Seth was working in a comic shop:

"So, let me get this straight. . . you're looking for a comic book based on the X-Men MOVIE?"

It was right after X3 came out.
