The WWE Universe Doesn't Know That There's A Wrestling Thread - Part 28

I mean I don't know Hunter what you want in a Mainevent cause I'd rather have those matches than Cena vs Miz vs Morrison.

I think SummerSlam and the months going into the holidays will tell the tale on Punk....Im thinking if interest doesn't pick up soon, there might be further changes to the storyline

Well I am excited to see what shenanigans Miz and Truth will get into.

Well it's pretty obvious why it drew better than the 4 bolded.

yeah at least two of those main events are boring retreads of stuff people were already tired of and as for Cena vs Batista it was obvious Big Dave would be leaving.

Wrestlemania 25 was a weak show overall so that period just wasn't very exciting when compared to the Rock vs Cena issue and Rocks return stirring interest.

because people are self centered a-holes....sound theory though

to change gears for a minute.....maybe Impact should try and re-associate with the NWA....to think that barely 30 years ago the NWA title was THE title in wrestling and now what does it mean??

I can't believe I'm saying this...but that would help the NWA more than it would TNA at this point so I'm not sure what TNA'd get out of it. The belts probably have SOME prestige left but not much to the casual fan.

If you ask me The NWA was stupid to remove their name from a show that at least had national tv exposure.

Oh come on. Triple H, Batista, Orton, hell I'll even say JBL are much bigger draws than The Miz.

The Batista/orton/HHH combo was a main event that people had seen a billion times before. There was nothing fresh about that at the time.

we'll see....im thinking recently, Miz got pulled aside by HHH and Vince and was told 'look, youve had a taste of the top...but now its time to be team player, and help the tag division put, and grind it out for a bit"

It hasn't got anything to do with what I want. Multi-man matches rarely draw big, they are seen as filler. A six man tag for the WHC was never gonna draw money because it's stupid. Edge vs Cena had happened many times on PPV before, which makes it a harder sell, plus it was booked on short notice. Cena vs Batista happened when everyone knew Batista was leaving, so the match had no pull.

Miz had been an irritating and underwhelming champ for months, with Extreme Rules people knew Cena was finally going to put him down, so the buyrate was a mix of Cena and the fact that people were looking forward to the end of Miz reign, so yeah, he gets credit for that aspect, but the fact the buyrate sunk for his rematch shows that it was more about seeing Cena win the belt than a Miz match drawing.

youre not getting this one SK....lets move on

basically any time you or Nell mention the Miz in any positive way, youre getting crapped on....you wanna blow the Miz and have people agree with you, try the WWE facebook page or something

Yea that Orton/Cena/HHH./JBL fatal four way was a big rethread.People were sick of that combo by then.To think later that year WWE gave us 4-5 more Orton/Cena PPV matches and thought people wouldn't burn out on it.

Plus HHH couldn't fight his urge to squash him for much longer. or as i like to call it "Orton" him.

"He broke 6,000 guitars and never drew a dime."

One of the best quotes ever.

I think even Jerry Jarrett said it was stupid for Jeff to use that gimmick.

Do you remember those statistics a lot of websites were publishing about how often the combo of Cena/HHH/Orton/Batista had been in PPV main events. It was some ridiculous number for a period of about 4 years.

If it's anything like this

then I'll be happy.

Im not blowing The Miz at all. Im giving him his due. If Thats blowing him, then im Jenna Jameson.

I think a lot of people tuned back into WWE because of The Rock and some of the fallout landed on the Extreme Rules PPV. It was a good card overall and I enjoyed it but if we're gonna praise the Miz then we should thank , Morrision , Del Rio and Christian also.

Yea some people might have also bought it to see who would win the vacant world title.

Not only will Wrestlemania 28 have the Rock vs. Cena, it may include Punk vs. Austin.

The bottom line is Punk's TV numbers are excellent, the buzz for the business is up, his shirt sales are the highest in a decade and this is all in the space of a 8 week push, and 2 of those weeks he was off TV.

Vince gave him a contract with the freedom very few enjoy, he is allowed to cut his own promos, the WWE are paying royalties for his theme which they never do, and the companies number one man is going out of his way to put him over.

To Del Rio "I'm tired of making the average look awesome, there's only one guy that can go toe to toe with me and you aren't CM Punk."

Cena is smart and he knows the potential lift Punk can give Raw and the WWE.

I'll admit this though, one of Punk's biggest assets his he can have great matches with the companies golden boy, like only Edge and HBK before him, that buys him a big seat at the top table.

Exactly. Rocks return got them a lot of press and a lot of fans were talking about how they were interested in tuning in to WWE again. Even on non wrestling websites which really surprised me.

Agree with all of that. Cenas not stupid. He's been around long enough to know he and Punk have chemistry. Thats why he's put that over in promos.

Cena vs Punk can be the rivalry they kept pushing Cena vs Orton as (even though that didn't live up to expectations) and they know it

basically.....Punk might be a headache, but his ability to bring people in is going to outweigh some hurt feelings

I'm so tired of hearing Punk/Austin. Now way Austin goes into a match where the repertoire of his opponent are repeated knees to the head

I'd only agree for the argument that I do NOT think Austin has another good match left in him

I have no interest in seeing Austin at 50 percent in a wrestling ring

Punk is a living version of the now cliche ''I'm a total ******* and I do what I want at my job and everyone will put up with it because I'm so amazing at said job'' tv character.

They just need to give it time. Nobody can change WWE's fortunes overnight. I think even if Vince didn't realize at first how bad the shallowness of the talent pool was HHH had to. They couldn't afford to let Punk leave.
