They tried Maryse as a valet but she's too much about getting herself over.
I remember a shoot with Sherri talking about the job of the valet being to enhance the star whose corner she is in, and I recall comments from HBK, Dibiase and Savage all putting over how she understood the business and did everything she could to enhance a match and get the guy she was managing over, and she talked about how in turn they'd work her into spots in order to get her over.
Rock has that many himself now though.
Right. The valet has to accentuate the wrestlers qualities. Can't be all about them. Sherri helped get HBK's act over not just herself.
Or like when Sherri would talk about Savage she would say stuff like "This man here..." Never mentioned herself nearly as much.
One of the best I can think of in modern times was Melina and she didn't compare to the old crop of valets.
Jackie did pretty well with AMW in TNA. Theres a few Knockouts that could be great valets. Traci Brookes could be
its why some of the fans are sooo harsh on these guys....they want to know that the people working in the WWE have at least some respect for the business they're in and are pretty quick to sniff out when that is NOT the case
And thats the difference between the majority of the old crop of Divas and the newer crop. You could tell women like Trish, Mickie, Lita, Victoria, Molly, Ivory, Jackie, etc loved the business. A lot of the newer model girls just see it as a fun stepping stone. Nothing wrong with using it as a stepping stone but respect it while your in it.
I'm gonna give a shout out to Luna Vachon too. LOVED pro wrestling and always gave it her best. She was always under appreciated.
There are some ladies in WWE now who I feel love the business. Beth and Nattie are obvious. Kharma, AJ, and probably Eve. Most of them just aren't being given the opportunity to improve or show what they have. Hopefully Goldust can do what Finlay and Regal and others did.
