This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]531189[/split]
Another thing to consider, is just because they're looking at EA, doesn't mean these games will be Xbox exclusives, but may be timed, with exclusive DLC content for Xbox. Remember, MS bought out Mojang for $4billion, and you can still play Minecraft on every single platform.
Of course they make money off of it. They own the game. Minecraft is a MS game.true.
I'm assuming MS makes $$ off of Minecraft selling on all platforms, including PS, yes?

I could see Disney dropping ( or not renewing ) their SW contract with EA if MS does indeed buy EA.
I also have a hard time believing EA would be willing to exclude the dominant console base ( Playstation ) this gen.
which is why I'm not believing this rumor until it's officially confirmed ( or deconfirmed ) by MS and EA.
still, though, it would be huge news if true. and now, if it doesn't come to pass, I'll admit I'd be a little disappointed.......lol.
it just feels like MS needs to do something of this magnitude to shake things up and improve their exclusives lineup.

You want it to happen even with no Xbox?t:
Doesnt seem worth spending and tieing up $35B just for timed exclusives on Xbox when youre a company as far-reaching as Microsoft with many other important divisions.that's what I figured. I suppose they could do something similar by allowing EA titles to stay multiplat, but still profit from them.
but if they are going to buy EA, then I'd rather they try to swing big and go for total exclusivity.
after all, that's the major area they are lacking in.
yeah.....lol.
cuz then that would give me incentive to get an Xbox. especially if it means future Bioware game will be Xbox exclusive.

Yeah definitely agreed. Timed exclusives aren't even half-assing in my book, more like zero-assing.yeah. that's why if they are going to make this big play, they need to "go big or go home."
timed exclusives are just half-assed.
EA games need to be full Xbox exclusives from now on. otherwise, what's the point?
but that's why I do have a hard time believing this, because will EA really want to give up the larger, more dominant Playstation audience? not just for PS4 but for PS5 and the gens beyond?
somehow, I just have a hard time seeing that.
it's more likely MS could buy the PUBG dev and make that totally exclusive. I can see that happening.
but EA? I'll believe when I see it.
maybe we'll get something tomorrow when they announce their earnings.
apparently, though, EA stocks got some kind of boost over the rumors. but the entire market was down big today, so I don't know if that EA bounce lasted......lol.

What EA want isn't really relevant though. It would be a takeover rather than a merger.
Yes the stock was up yesterday and finished up again today in a down market.
The whole deal would have much more relevance for next gen if it were to happen I think.well, if it's a takeover, then I'd think MS would want to keep all the EA goodies for themselves.
hopefully we find out soon enough.
as a Playstation owner, and even if I never get another Xbox, I'd still like to know if future Bioware ( and other EA games ) will be coming to PS. if not, then I'll have to take that into consideration.
though, with Anthem pushed back to 2019, and DA 4 presumably later, this might not matter as much to me in the short term.
but still, I don't like rumors and uncertainty. I want the truth and facts.....lol.

yeah, as we were discussing before, more like MS preparing for next gen.
however, isn't Anthem already in development for Xbox and PS4 ( and PC I presume? )?
so how would MS acquiring EA affect a game like Anthem that's already in development for multiple platforms?
It turns out they acquired a cloud based gaming company called Playfab.
