well, people who can't stand Windows 8 probably don't care for the tile layout.

and I've heard some say the X1 UI is sluggish and hard to navigate, while others like it.

so it really comes down to personal taste.

people also hate hardcore on the Ps4's UI but I don't care much for it. Maybe because I don't have very many apps atm to navigate through.

well, some people say the X1 UI is laggy.

so, yeah, if that's the case, they do need to work on it. streamline it and make it more efficient and responsive.

and maybe if Windows 9 is moving away from the Tile/Metro style, they'll use that as an excuse to overhaul the X1 UI design as well.

also, there are rumors that Cortana will be added to Windows 9 for voice assistance, much like she's used in the new Windows phones.

maybe Cortana will also be added to the X1, especially if they finally allow voice commands through a headset ( instead of just through Kinect ).

I can see the UK price of the X1 going to £299.99 (even with no game which is equivalent to what we have now anyway) after Xmas this year. It's such a psychological barrier to get under £300 that it has to happen now that we're already seeing no game bundles for as low as £319.

I could see maybe the price for the 500gb model dropping to $350 if they introduce a 1tb model at $400. but that seems more down the line.

Well, bear in mind that £299.99 is about 487 USD. So, the Brits are only doing mildly terrible with those God awful prices, compared to Americans. The Xbone with Kinect is even cheaper in Japan. Somehow.

The UK pays more for most products compared to US unfortunately (for us). Although our prices are inclusive of sales tax. Do you have to pay that on top? (& how much is it if so?) And the X1 launched at £429 which is what I paid, just under $700!

in the US, you have to pay state sales tax on top of the retail price.

and it varies from state to state. plus you have to pay county and city tax. So the total sales tax I have to pay is about 8.8%.

so for a $400 X1, that's about $35 in tax. for a total price of about $435.

I thought the recent price cut made the xbone cheaper. so they cut the Ps4 price too? first official Ps4 price cut then.

I can't see us in America getting an official price cut any time soon. What they'll do is make you a very tempting offer, like buy an Xbox One and get a game free.

yeah....we're probably not getting actual console price cuts until ( late )next year at the earliest.

Though I could see MS being the first to cut prices because they need to be more aggressive. Sony's not really in a position where it needs to cut price right now.

Arguably Microsoft hasn't really give the Xbox One a price cut at all. True, the Kinect-less Xbox One retails at 399, but the Kinect is going for 149 separately. So, considering it was 499, Microsoft really didn't give the consumer a price cut.

So, they could sell the Xbox One without a Kinect for 349, without taking a big hit.

If any consumer did the math based on Microsoft's figures (150 dollars for the Kinect), they're paying too much money for a standard Xbox One without Kinect.

yeah the consumer didn't really get a price cut, but a chance to just have an xbone at a lower price. maybe we will see a cheaper xbone soon in the future but then again we may also see that of the Ps4 as well, you know

okay I see. but the question then is, is there more inflation going on in the uk than there is in the U.S? then it would make a little more sense why it is more expensive. rich from reviewtechusa actually made a video about this over the summer

No, the UK has very high tariffs and taxes. Which back when it was the British Empire wasn't really an issue, but now, it makes foreign consumer electronics (basically all electronics) exceedingly expensive.

The fact that the UK has a unique plug and socket type doesn't help things for electronics either.

Now Brazil takes it to an even more insane level. When they first came out, the PS4 cost 1850 US Dollars, and the Xbox One cost 1016 US Dollars.

I can only assume that the Xbox cost less because Brazil has better trade agreements with the United States than Japan.

Or Sony doesn't know how to bribe Brazilian officials properly.
