looks like the Target Black Friday ad is up!

http://www.theblackfriday.com/target-blackfriday.shtml

X1 related stuff includes:

- ACU bundle for $329.99 + $50 Gift Card ( Page 1 )
- $25 for Evil Within and Shadow of Mordor ( Page 7 )
- $35 for Madden, Watch Dogs, Diablo ( Page 7 )
- $15 Gift Card when you buy Halo ( Page 7 )
- $40 for X1 controllers and Turtle Beach headsets ( Page 8 )

I'm assuming the multi plat titles are on sale for both X1 and PS4.

honestly, unless you have your eyes on the specific games on sale, the B2G1 free deal this week is more appealing, cuz it makes it like every $60 game is on sale for $40 if you buy 3 of them.

and the consoles, at that price, will probably be very limited in quantity.

I never actually checked to make sure but I though if you turn it off and it's still plugged in it's still in ready mode for when you say Xbox On. Would have thought it would keep downloading in that state but haven't checked to make sure.

I had to disconnect my Kinect. I hated that thing. Anytime I was talking to someone while I was gaming, you couldn't ever say the words Xbox in a conversation, or it would snap you out of your game. It happened so many times.

I could be wrong but I believe it will continue the download in "low power/instant on" mode when it is "turned off". Honestly I never checked, I just download a game and turn my xbox off for the night.

ah, thanks. well, I think I turned that mode off.

so, I'm installing CoD, and at 15%, a message popped up saying it's ready to play, Hold the Home button to launch.

but when I held the home button, it just popped up the screen where you can turn the console or controller off.

so, how do I launch a game that's installing but ready to play?

Just click on the games icon in the lower right corner, but I'd advise against it. It's rarely worth it to start the game before it's completely finished downloading/installing

thanks.

does that work for digital games, too, or just disc games?

cuz I think the lower right corner icon says "Insert Disc" or something, and I'm installing the digital version of CoD.

Those are actually good deals. I paid 350 and tax for mine, but I got Unity and Sunset Overdrive... so, I guess I did alright.

I hope those will be online.

The noise is still annoying me, but I just don't have time to go see my friend's Xbone to compare.

I find so many videos telling me what it's not supposed to sound like, but few telling me what it should sound like.

is the noise getting worse or about the same?

and does it make the noise constantly or only when the X1 is doing something?

anyways, I take it, installing games from the disc is a lot faster than downloading the entire thing digitally. right?

cuz it's been about 10 hours already, and my CoD install is around 23% done.

if large games like that take that long to download, I don't see myself buying anymore AAA titles digitally.

what's becoming increasingly evident to me is that microsoft isn't even out to make profit in the gaming industry - it seems they want to just win the race.

they cut the price $150 in one year, and gave out a whole lot of free AAA games. Which they're definitely losing money on. And they have plenty more money to continue making those deals, so it looks like all they want to do is beat the Ps4 and be on top in sales, not even to make money. Which to me makes me feel like they just want to boost their egos so they can eventually say they won the 8th gen.

Yes that's what all 3 juggernauts' objectives are, but microsoft in particular seems most desperate to beat the rest.

well!! just picked up Halo, ACU, AND Diablo (woot!!) from Target!!

so, I was 3 for 3!!

When the Xbox One starts, I can't hear anything except for what sounds like the HDD doing something (which is normal, I guess?), but once I start a game, a noticeable hum starts, which increases steadily. With the game on normal volume, I notice it, but the game can drown it out. But if it's a quiet scene, it's very noticeable, even at 8 feet away. So louder, than my 360.

I can live with it, but I'm concerned because everyone says their 'box is virtually silent. Either they're deaf, lying, or there's something wrong with mine.

It is different from the coil whine I had with the first one.

Didn't you just switch from a PS4 to the X1 bc you were hearing loud noises?

Well yes, but those were a byproduct of a defective disc drive. Which I would say is more than "hearing loud noises".

Not loud fans.

No problem with the disc drive here. Hell, that is silent.

ah.

well, now that I'm using my X1 a bit more ( I'm starting to play a bit of CoD ), I am noticing a slight "chirping" noise?

it doesn't seem constant, and it isn't very loud, and you have to sit right next to the machine to really hear it.

is that.......normal??

I'm assuming it's just the sound of the machine reading from the hdd.

should I be concerned?

I've heard this before. Chirping, but I don't know quite what people mean by it. Could you compare it to another noise?

At this point, I really hope I'm just being a console hypochondriac, but I have pretty bad luck. I must be the only person on here who had a defective Wii U (defective as in, I sent it to Nintendo they agreed there was a defect and they fixed it). Granted, only 5 people on here have one, but still. That's some ****** luck.

It seems like when the Xbox One first came out, everyone said it was dead silent. Then after the kinect was removed, people started talking about chirping, grinding, humming, and coil whines.

Maybe I should get a Kinect...

well, to me, it sounds like when you're computer is booting up and accessing the hdd. or when it's processing something. you hear that "chirping/clicking" noise.

with the X1, I just tried it out again, I hear that noise when I turn on the system and it boots up. or when it shuts down and turns off.

also heard it when I quit CoD and went back to the home screen.

so, it sounds like it's just the normal sound of the hdd in use.

I hope........

other than that, the X1 is pretty quiet ( other than a low "hum" ). the power brick also has a low hum.

but nothing really loud or noticeable.

next week, I'm going to test it out playing disc games with DAI and WWE 2K15. so, I'll see if there are any noticeable noises with that.

edit: wrong thread.

Man am I loving the XBone ever since I picked it up in September. Such a great improvement over the 360, a true gem to Xbox fans. Haters gonna hate.

The only big complaint about the system so far is, update the damn Youtube app and change the keyboard, it's soo annoying to type with that interface!

And remove the gloss finish on the console, please! Like right now Microsoft, it's so horrible. You look at it and it scratches, every day I clean the console with a microfiber cloth and there is still a **** ton of hair line scratches on the top you can see when light hits it.

Anyone else here have some crazy hair line scratches on their xbone?

I'm really loving the X1 controller so far. when I first tried it out months ago at a store demo, I didn't like it. especially after using the DS4.

but, like the DS4, the X1 just feels natural and comfortable in my hands. and the more I use it, the more I like it.

Sony priced the PS4 way cheaper than they needed to as evidenced by the extreme supply shortages. If MS just cared about the race rather than profit they should have reduced their own to 400 right then. Now they are being forced to. But the original price of the PS4 has reduced profits initially for both of them although at the benefit of consumers.

extreme supply shortages were because of higher demand. sony admitted they didn't anticipate that high of a demand and later on in august when they hit the 10 million milestone, they said that the number could've been even higher if they didn't have such shortages.

With higher demand and restricted supply you price higher to maximise profits. If you raise price enough there won't be a supply shortage any more. And after supply/demand come into sync you can adjust price down to the new equilibrium. They could have sold the same amount at $500 as at $400 with the crazy mismatch of supply and demand and made an extra however many million times $100 of pure profit. 10 million units would mean $1B (the company is only worth $20B altogether) for eg.
