so no BC and no used games..........

the BC doesn't really bother me. but the no used games part does.

It doesn't completely block used games, but you have to pay a fee to play it. Basically an integrated Online Pass system.

I have no games to use backwards compatability because I sell them as soon as i'm done but the used games things is a big downer if true

They didnt' actually answer that specific question though. Everything was basically hypothetically

....i honestly expected it though

and I may have come in late. Did they say that XboxOne doesnt allow you to play used games

It requires you to pay a fee to install a game on another Xbox.

And installs are mandatory.

That sounds...weird.

No wonder Microsoft didn't bring it up on stage.

so does that also mean if multiple family members, each with their own gamer account, want to play a game, they each have to pay a fee to play the game??

nevermind used games, what if you want to share a game among family members in the same household?? each account has to pay a fee??

that sounds.........really confusing and cumbersome.......

Even better, imagine what happens if the install screws up the first time. "What's that? It failed? Well, we have no way of confirming that this isn't a fib on your part to get this installed over multiple accounts, so to cover our own bottom line, drop more money on a re-install."

Yeah...until they resolve this, Sony's looking mighty friendly right now.

That's to do with a report that Sony are "leaning toward" spinning off their entertainment division.

I dunno....check Microsoft's numbers on NASDAQ. They're in free-fall since about 2:30 PM.

Somebody needs to rethink their strategy big time.

I hope the new menus are controller friendly too. I hate using Kinect to travel through menus right now. And the voice commands always screw things up in Netflix. Stupid thing pauses every now and then or the hand thing turns on.

I dont buy used games but damn
Theyre seriously going ot put a dent into/destroy companies with that pay to play a used game nonsense.

I usually never buy sports games myself but always play them when a friend comes over. So I would have to pay a fee just if a friend comes to chill and we want to play MAdden?
I dont think that it would catch on

It was just a bad reveal, which thankfully got a lot of the TV nonsense out of the way to make room for games at E3. The hardware conference in an hour will be more interesting.

Well "Sony’s PlayStation 4 is in a similar situation—the device will not be backward compatible with PlayStation 3 games." due to the architecture of both systems . but at least they're not blocking used games though it was hinted/ thought about at one time. . hmm i better recheck up on that though .

I don't buy used games either but it sucks for someone likes me that trades/sell my games once Im done to fund my next new game purchases. Id buy less games if I didn't have an outlet to unload the ones Im done with.

That's how all DLC has worked for the past 7/8 years on 360. Heard many complaints about it so far? Once you've paid it's in your paid download history for life and you keep attempting to download whatever it is..retail DLC, arcade game, online pass etc till it works. And there's always proof you've paid in case you need to contact Support to get it resolved.

I buy used games. Some of them are significantly cheaper. In the last year alone, I bought so many used games off Amazon and saved around $100 in the process. Microsoft made it so easy for me to pick.

Business wise, it would be smarter for them to rethink their plans.

I was left with a "meh" feeling. The whole used game yes/no/maybe/we'll see thing is stupid... Right now... It's PS4. E3 better be ALL games... All.

i guess Im easily impressed because I liked every thing I saw/heard until that whole used games bit

Sony needs to do more as well. All they showed me was that these next gen games will look shiner and prettier. Thats not enough for me to make the switch when im MORE than content with the games we have now.

Im assuming E3 will do that. Ill get to see the true differences between Assassins Creed IV for the PS3 and ACIV for the PS4. I need to see a big difference, BIG. Otherwise, im not jumping to the next generation any time soon.

Or maybe its like ICEMAN said, when they start showing some of these games like The Witcher 3 that are being made for these next gen systems, thatll be what pushes me over the edge.

I'm more into rentals now and occasionally buy used games plus when I had a 360 I'd borrow games from my bro in law&vice-versa and this terrible news IF true(I'm in denial)

The X1 really interests me But this news ruins it for me!

I don't buy much used games, but sometimes, for an older game, a used copy is all that's available at a local retailer.

I do sell/trade in my games to raise cash for new game purchases.

so, this would be a serious blow not just to people who buy used games but also those who want to trade/sell games ( since it would hurt the demand/market for used games ).

Harvey Eagle: Kinect required in all cases for #XBoxOne to function

The hits keep on coming.

Yeah, if they ditch the greedy-ass pay-2-play bit, I'm still onboard with X1. I liked the new features and the graphics/gameplay upgrades....just waiting to hear about these new exclusive games at E3.
