Got mine delivered today.
It is pretty nice.

It detected my 4k tv and set the resolution on the XBoneS properly.
I tried out my one and only 4k BR (San Andreas)
My Xbox said.. no way jose!
I checked the advanced 4K video settings on the XBoneS and I failed in a bunch of settings.. would not support HDR or various other settings (well all of them actually) if you take look you know what I am talking about.

I found out I actually did not have my HDMI ports on my TV set for "advanced" which enables all the 4k features (HDR and other things).

So all this time when I thought I was streaming "4K" Netflix stuff from my android box I guess I really wasn't seeing it before.

After doing that nothing but green check marks.
The 4K BR played nicely.

Overwatch looks great.

Moving the regular one up to the upper lounge or bedroom (Wife will allow that right ?).

how quiet is the S?

I've read some reports say it is a bit louder than the regular X1.

and does your S stay fairly cool?

I sit about 12 feet from it and I really do not hear anything from it. It is no louder than my other Xbox One and I do not hear anything while watching TV or playing games.

I have had it on all day, almost 12 hours. It is warm to the touch but my Original is warm/hot as well, which it will do as it is expelling hot air.

^ yeah, it's a shame the S only offers minor performance improvements. I mean, it's a nice bonus for the system, but it's not Neo or Scorpio level improvement.

that's why I've decided to wait for the Neo or Scorpio. After reading the reviews, thinking about it, and discussing it with the family, I find it hard to justify buying a console that's going to be quickly outclassed in power. The money I'd use for the S can be saved for the Neo or Scorpio plus a 4k tv.

As a 1080p tv owner, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the full benefits of the S anyways, so might as well wait and save up for the more powerful consoles ( Neo or Scorpio ) and go all in with a 4K tv.

Do you realize that for months, you've been in here the most and most of your posts have been about which new console to get? God damn you keep bouncing around on what you are deciding to get and will probably be doing the exact same until next year and might just end up going to a PS4 again. Making all this posts in here for nothing

And I've openly admitted I'm wishy washy........lol.

Posting in this thread doesn't mean I have to buy the S. I strongly considered it, waited for the reviews and analysis to come out, and I've decided against it in favor of the more powerful consoles coming out.

And it wasn't all for nothing, because it saved me $400 by skipping out on the S.

and I already have a PS4, so I don't have to go to a PS4 again. :cwink:

Besides, I stayed away from this thread for some time since November, only returning to post in the last few months.

You're allowed to but it's just ****ing annoying and you already have a ps4 but may still upgrade to a neo and so yeah you wouldjust be going back in a way
 
well, I'm sorry if it's annoying. But I really don't think you should get annoyed about what other posters say and do.......lol. Especially when I'm not calling you out, trolling you, or going after you or anything.

I'm merely discussing this stuff with you guys. And I've always done it civilly and in good fun.

So I really don't see what the problem is. But, again, I'm sorry for being annoying.
 
I went to get mine this week only have them tell me that only the 2TB stand alone model came out this week the 1TB (mine) and 500 comes out 8/23 and the bundles come out a week after that. So here I am, paying for Gold and no system to use it on, I have no 360. I only have PS3/PS4.
 
Well damn that kinda sucks but hey weeks will go by quickly

Seems good to me.

I only have the one 4K BR (San Andreas) and it looks and sounded good.

Even though my TV upscale to 4k I am using the Slim to upscale. Games are looking good. Might be just me but Overwatch I think looks better than before.

Just re-downloading all my other games currently. They will give them a looksie.

Hard to judge Netflix 4k Content.. is it really 4k.. its streamed so that kills the quality right there does it now.
 
so I was at the store today and saw a few boxes of the S on the shelves.

Damn!! That box is small!!

sadly, no actual unit out on display. :(

but I was surprised by how small the box is, seeing it in person.
 
I picked up the box the 2TB model comes in it feels pretty hefty for being smaller. I like that the 2TB comes with a vertical stand I wonder if the 500 and 1TB models do?

they don't. only the 2TB one comes with the stand. stand is $20 by itself, I think.
 
still waiting for some bigger name 360 games to be added to the BC list.

Dragon Age Origins and DA 2, Mass Effect 2 and 3, and the like.
 
Is the new controller grip a rubber textured grip or a hard plastic with bumps on it?

Ya, its all the same material only the grips are textured. Does not feel bad , I do not even notice it really as I got used to it.

Saved me from more than once from the controller "slipping" at the TV when freaking Tracer is blinking all over the place and I can't shoot her.

Oh wait that would be throwing the controller.. my bad.

so the grip doesn't feel too "bumpy" or "plasticy"?
