And it would be serious trolling if all the red-headed girls look more like classic MJ in this movie than Zendaya, who might not even have red hair.

I think I know who Zendaya is playing. The name of her character IS Michelle. And they didn't confirm it that she is playing MJ or not because there is indeed a secret, but not the one people are looking for. It's definitely something that I could see Marvel and Sony doing together and it'd probably please everyone, but I'll leave it at that. Also, for those actually paying attention Marvel is playing with MJ since Civil War. Not sure even if she'll show up in this film, hence why I can see they using the Civil War route to play a little bit further.

Seriously that you people never caught what is obviously a Mary Jane easter egg in Civil War? It's never spelled, it's a blink and you'll miss it scene, but it's there. And saying more is spoilers, I went WTF in theaters when I noticed after the second or third viewing, haha. What I mean is that they might not even HAVE MJ around for Homecoming, but keep throwing subtle hints... like the one in Civil War, like the obvious references from the stuntwoman's clothes and redhair. It'd be an interesting twist on the MJ secret... think yellow umbrella girl in HIMYM.

I don't remember if he passed by anyone.

I think the MJ reference happened during the end battle between Iron Man and Cap. When Cap was about to bring down his shield on Iron Man's arc reactor, that's when it happened.

I've noticed in the second or in the third viewing. I literally know most of that film's lines and scenes by heart by now. Even the Russian and Romanian parts, when Bucky was buying plums.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm completely writing it down Mary Jane showing up in this film, but I think that we could get hints like he saving a redhead. It'd be hillarious that if MJ doesn't show up, in the sequel she is cast as a bad ass asian, latina or african-american kid. t:

Yeah no one would give a **** about the race change if they have Zendaya red hair. That's my only gripe with the casting. Maybe she'll dye her hair red in a later installment

The camera never focus on her. I slowed it down on my blu-ray now and it seems that she is on the phone and while he doesn't seem to look at her, she looks at him. They live in apartments in Queens, instead of a house, which is fitting with that neighborhood. One of the staples of MJ that was never played in film is Aunt May trying to convince Peter to meet this girl that lives next door. I can see that being played out in the future. I do think whoever MJ is, she will be a Peter's neighbor and introduced by May, unlike him meeting at school like it's going to happen with Michelle and already happened with Gwen. I think MJ will be sort of like the yellow umbrella girl from HIMYM, what doesn't stop neither Michelle, Betty, Gwen or whoever else to end up being Peter's Robin. Cross geek references are mind bending cool. t:

You have a lot to learn, young padawan. Notice that I directly compared with HYMYM, and the girl with the umbrella was played by several actresses and a lot of red herrings before the real deal. What reminds me: Sharon Carter was known as THE love interest for Cap. That was before Agent Peggy Carter, who stole the show...
