The Dark Knight These two guys keeping it real about the Heath Ledger bandwagon

Gambol and Gator have weird accents...

But they do have valid points.

Heath Ledgar may not have been Robert DeNiro or James Dean but his life was cut short and he had alot potential . I never really payed much attention to the actor but thought he was good in Ned Kelly . I actually thought it was overhyped until I actually saw this movie and realized he did give a really good performance. The guy is dead and he'll never get to enjoy any of this so why are people coming down on him and the people that like him . If people want to jump on the bandwagon ....GOOD. Let this movie make a billion dollars so that I can see a third batman movie because i'm enjoying every minute of it.

They do have a point, yes. I personally was one of the people excited about Ledger as the Joker, because I became a fan of his as soon as I saw Brokeback Mountain, so there was never a doubt in my mind. But yeah, there were a lot of people who were dissing him and then jumped on the bandwagon when they actually saw the trailer footage. But I wouldn't exactly say those people are being hypocritical. Because you have to take into account that most people knew of Heath from movies like A Knight's Tale instead of movies where he gave much stronger and more profound performances. So I think instead of calling everyone who changed their mind a hypocrite, it would make more sense to say that Heath opened their eyes as to what he was capable of and earned their trust and respect.

These guys are blowing it out of proportion and they are your typical youtube bloggers who think their opinions are perfect and that we need their enlightenment. It isn't a dialogue, its 2 people sitting in front of a camera telling us how we are wrong. This is why I love Colbert Report cause he makes fun of the people who do that.

Look, I thought Heath Ledger was good casting but I was going to wait and see, I think he did a great job and I hope he wins an Oscar. I am not hopping on the bandwagon, I am just being informed about his acting ability and regret that I wont get to see where he is going to call. And did he really call them "Bayformers?" *sigh*

Freaking youtube. That thing is like a magnifying glass for one's narcissism. Everyone thinks they are important now.

I love how the guy on the left wont let the other guy say a thing

I thought I was the only one that didn't think Heath Ledger was like God. When he was first announced, everyone was making "Brokeback Batman" jokes and saying his joker looked bad and sounded too dark. His oscar worthy stuff is bull ****. He was good. He was really good. Want my opinion on who should get best supporting actor nomination IF it ever happened for this film? Aaron Eckhart. Not saying Ledger was bad, he was good. I'm saying that Eckhart was better. But I totally agree with these guys that people have blown it out of proportion.

I wasn't too keen on the idea until I saw this manip over a year ago:

It was done by someone on here I think. It reminded me of a panel out of Hush and I was sold from there.

And I'd been a fan of Heath's since 10 Things I Hate About You.

couldnt have said it beter myself, Bat-Mite.

funny thing happened the other day, a friend of mine said to me "oh so ur jumping on the Ledger bandwagon too huh?". so i just showed him the "created" dates from some files id saved from the internet in regards to both Heath and TDK from way back since it was first announced that he was playing the role of the Joker. i didnt really wanna have to prove myself to him, but it was a little insulting

Typical. Something or someone gets popular and earns a lot of praise and some people backlash against it/them so they won't be seen as "on the band wagon". :whatever:

Those two guys said what I've been trying to say over the past seven months!

I mean, it's sad that Heath Ledger is dead and everything, but I'm really tired of people getting on the bandwagon especially after people had some venomous feedback after he was casted as the Joker. When Heath Ledger was casted as the Joker, I was one of the skeptics. I just couldn't picture Ledger in that role, but I had the mentality that Christopher Nolan must have seen something amazing to have casted him. Anyway ... My skepticism was proven wrong once I actually saw the movie. Ledger was incredible in the role, and I think he deserves recognition for his work in the role, AND THAT ISN'T BECAUSE HE'S DEAD. People called me insensitive for saying this, but I explained to people that if I didn't like Ledger's performance as the Joker, then I was going to admit it! I would have been criticizing his acting, not his life.

To me, ever since the man died, many individuals have convinced themselves that he was going to do a fantastic job as the Joker. A lot of people still focus on the man's death instead of the role, and that disturbs me. When I went to the midnight show of The Dark Knight, some stupid girl decided to shout out "REMEMBER HEATH!" right when the movie started! It was ridiculous. I didn't know that I was going to attend a funeral service when I purchased my movie tickets! :whatever:

Now, do I have some sympathy for Heath Ledger and his family? Sure. They lost a loved one too soon ... But to me, he's just an actor. I didn't know the man personally, so it's not a personal loss for me. The media is fixated on this one man's death when there are people out there dying violent deaths in places like Darfur, Burma, and Iraq. Where are the media's priorities? I guess their priorities lie within the sensationalism of it all. Whatever gets them their high ratings, I guess ...

What I'm trying to say is that a lot of people are labeling The Dark Knight as "Heath Ledger's last movie" instead of labeling it as a fantastic movie. It annoys me, to say the least. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies ever, but the fact that people keep stamping Heath Ledger's death all over it saddens me. Shouldn't people enjoy a movie for what it is: a freakin' movie?!

*puts soapbox away*

Because that's all part of the plan. One little actor dies and everyone loses their minds!

I had my reservations... i wanted George McFly. But alas, Heath knocked me on my ass, and The Thin-Man probably would have sucked anywy

I understand the message they're trying to say....but those two guys come off as self important jackasses....At least the one on the left. Righty can't get a word in edgewise.

It's no secret that 99% of the people here Bashed Ledger when he was cast. Then slowly people changed their opinions, espically when the first trailer and Prolouge hit.

I wouldnt say Jumping on the bandwagon, but be freaking real. We Post here because we are COMIC BOOK FANS. Most of us have these characters close to our hearts and when someone brings them to Life...We'll idolize them.

I honestly feel it would be no differnet if Harrison Ford had died right before Indy 4 Hit.

The Media chews up stories on Entertainment, because it's where we ESCAPE our lives...and if something really bad happens, We're going to hear about it. But if 23 troops die, We brush it off. Why do you think we freaking hear about Britney spears 24/7 and not about the war?

I wasn't a big fan of HL, But A Knights Tale is one of my favorite movies, and was way before he cast as Joker. But the man did an amazing Job, and I think he deserves the praise he gets.

I thought they kind of had a good point, until I read their youtube comments. Also, kind of pretentious when they started shouting out "SHEEP!! SHEEP!!"

I like those guys and I think they're right. It wasn't popular to state loving Ledger until he passed, and a lot of the outrage and sorrow is so obviously fake. As far as praise for the role goes, I know Ledger deserves every ounce, he is ****ing amazing in the film, but he isn't a God, he was an actor, and a damn good one, but nothing more.

When he was cast, I didn't like it. When that first picture slowly pieced together, I was sold, but I don't fool myself into some fake sense of grief and outrage.

And how are these guys any different than what some of you are doing? They don't agree with you so THEY are being pompous jackasses, when the fact of the matter is you're doing the same thing to them. If they had the same attitude but instead the content was "Put Heath of the dollar," everyone would love them. They are actually proven right here, they don't say anything bad about him, only that he was an actor and people need to be real with themselves, and everyone freaks out saying they are trashing Ledger.

You must not have been here during the time the trailer and the prologue hit back in December. Heath's Joker was getting massive praise and that was a good month before he died. To say that he only started getting praise after he died is just nonsense.
