He's coming for you....

It's been a few decades since we've seen John Rambo on consoles, but that could be changing soon. It seems as though our hero is ready to put on his red bandanna, pop off his top, and lay waste to legions of bad guys thanks to a deal with UK publisher Reef Entertainment. The company, whose past games include the Wii games Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre, has made a deal that would bring Sylvester Stallone's Cold War icon to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. “I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands,” said Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon. There's no word on when –or if –the game will be invading our shores, but Reef's commercial director Craig Lewis is promising a triple-A game that "will capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful.”

If this is done right... with Sly voice acting... it could be great.

Hmm, could be an interesting game in the right hands, but the previous games of Reef Entertainment don't sound that great to me.

Could be cool if they made a more fast paced Snake Eater (I always wanted a bow and arrow in that game). I imagine they will probably try to aim for the over the top blood and guts of "Rambo."

If they don't want to make another generic FPS, then they should go the Far Cry/Metal Gear 3 route. Stripped down to bare essentials, wading through the jungle muck with a machete in your mouth, sneaking up on enemy soldiers and slitting their throats

Torture sequences abound and eating woodland creatures for health. Complex survivals mechanics depending on whether you are in a tropical jungle or the redwood forests of northern USA. Subsisting on woodland creatures, hastily tied bandages using shirts from enemy soldiers and open ended maps such that you can take any route from A to B

NOW THAT WOULD A TRUE RAMBO GAME INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL BOOK

And not, "RAAAARRGHHH!!!! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!"
Though the there should be moments like that. Huge firefights are a must but not one every 5 seconds.

hopefully it's good. something like a cross between Metal Gear and Uncharted would be awesome. and hopefully Sly will be invoked in this.

anyone remember the Rambo game for the Sega Genesis? that game was fun

Was it the one where you could shoot arrows at a helicopter? If so then yes... I loved that game.

I hope its 3rd person and is pretty much what A.B. suggested.

I believe if a developer is truly a fan of something and put their hearts into it they can create a great game.

Isn't every FPS game now a Rambo based game? Just about all of em have u running through waves of enemies and isn't that what Rambo did?

This can go either way,But I am very curious about it and so I can't wait to hear/read more on it!!

IMO, I hope they go the 3rd person route with the game, hopefully similar to Snake Eater. Question is, will this be based on any particular film or are they gonna try to craft an all new story?

My hope is.....

Sly returns to voice the character&write the story/Is a 3rd person shooter/Story takes place a few years after III and before IV(I feel IV had the perfect ending for the series and playing as a bit younger John Rambo than IV is a plus even though he still kicked a**in IV)/Gameplay&style is based on the Uncharted games!!!!

Game website with teaser trailer(trilogy montage)&screenshots..

Looking great at least in the graphics department already,Article says"game will use official audio cues from the trilogy of movies, including theme songs, grunts and catchphrases."so that's a cool touch.

i had completely forgotten about this game. judging from that screenshot and what that article described, the game looks very promising. hopefully it won't disappoint.

Do I get to go crazy and take on the military and help the terrorists win?

Take on the military&other armed forces yeah But why would help terrorist win IF your John Rambo?

Damn, shame it's not 3rd person.

I wanted a 3rd person shooter too But since it's a FPS..Would be great IF it's like Far Cry 3

Is Sly gonna voice the character? That alone will determine rather i check this out or pass.

I really hope they use some of Jerry Goldsmith's themes in this game :)

Never heard of this until now. Hope it ends up being awesome.

Damn, shame it's not 3rd person.
Yeah, it's funny because someone mentioned how Tomb Raider had a strong Rambo vibe to it. I never heard about this game until now, but I would love to play a third person game with the same kind of badass action like Tomb Raider.

I was hoping it'd be 3rd person and more like Far Cry in that it's open world...maybe let you make your own weapons

Those are great idea. First Person just seems like such a generic choice, like they're not even trying. Just churning out something quick with the license, and move on. An open world jungle location, maybe a small town or two, enemy camps, a range of weapons, maybe create some Vietnam War style booby-traps. Melee kills, big action, stealth. That's a Rambo game.

Oh well.

They could still be taking the game serious and do lots of stuff even as a FPS,Far Cry 3 is a FPS,Maybe they using that game as a template and that's why it's a FPS..OR it's cause they want players to"immerse themselves"as John Rambo and see the game in his POV through his eyes.

We can't be saying"oh well"and act as if this is not a true Rambo game..Yet!
