Ill go first. No romance between carol and mar-vell. Snore
I actually want to see a romance between Carol and Mar-vell. I don't want to see any shoe horned in characters that aren't needed to tell Carol's story. People such as Kamala , Hellen Cobb, or Rhodey.
I'd prefer Carol and Mar-Vell's bond to remain platonic, myself.
Especially because Jude Law is too old at this point.
I don't want to see Carol losing her memories at the hands of Rogue.
Yeah that would be random.
I also dont want to see her as too boozy. She can get drunk sure but not even tony stark was a boozehound in the movies (or that big a one) so I dont know why carol should be, at least in the first movie. She should be inspiring
And Im not saying people recovering from alcoholism cant be inspiring but at least get to know her first
Wouldn't be surprised if they save that for when the X-Men join the MCU, and have Rogue start as a semi-villain. Possibly an Avengers/X-Men crossover, (so an opportunity to retire CM should they wish to do that 10 years from now)
I don't want to see Clark Gregg only have a minor role.
I don't want to see Captain Marvel have no scenes with Coulson.
I don't want to see Ming-Na-Wen not turn up as Melinda May at all (at least give her a cameo).
I don't want to see Clark Gregg have a major role.
No mohawk or super short hair. Yuck!
I love that look, I would love to see her sport it in the present day
I'll add Monica Rambeau to that. She has nothing to do with Carol's story at all.
That being said, Helen Cobb, Michael Rossi, etc. all feel like appropriate background characters depending on the story. They're certainly not characters from outside Carol's universe squeezed in.
I'm not a fan of romance in general in most movies. Feels so cliche.
"I'm a guy, you're a gal, I guess we should hook up"
It's one reason why I love the Blade trilogy. Blade was all business. No time for romance.
As for the topic, I don't know enough about the character to be too precious with the material. I do know she has a super weird pregnancy arc where she gets impregnated by her own son from the future. Let's hope they never touch that.
Carol should not be raped by Marcus.
Carol should not have her powers and memories stolen by Rogue.
Yeah agreed that whole thing was just one of the worst stories Ive ever heard. What a horrible idea
I really don't think we need to worry about that particular storyline rearing its ugly head, lol.
I have enough faith in Feige to think he is smart enough to steer clear of that particular storyline.
No anachronisms given its setting.
No Hot Tub Time Machine type humor regarding the 90's. Go the Stranger Things route. It's about our main character in a story that takes place in a certain time frame NOT about that time frame. There's a distinction. Long story short, don't hit us over the head that it's the 90's.
While I don't want a Marv and Carol pairing up either at the same time I don't want Carol to be, well, sexless let's say. What I mean is don't turn Carol into the cliche of the hard driving professional woman that's cut herself off from romantic entanglements or a sex life just because she's pursuing a career. Show that she's had relationships and is open to them of varying levels intensity. I ain't saying go the opposite route either and make her Bridgette Jones pining for a dude to come complete her. I just mean if Tony Stark can have an obvious appreciation for the other sex in his first film there's no reason Carol has to be sexless in presentation either.
Go easy on the foreshadowing of events we know will come to the MCU. Do it sure, but like with the 90's setting don't bash us over the head with it.
Don't make Carol simply a female dude bro type with no sense of how educated she actually would have to be just because that is more "relatable". She's an Aire Force Academy graduate, officer and pilot. She may not be Reed Richards or Tony Stark but given her career she would have more than a layman's grasp of various scientific aspects of her job as well as American and world history. She's elitely educated in a field populated by well educated peers. Don't undermine that.
As someone who knows zero about Captain Marvel from the comics, but as an MCU fan and general fan of cinema - I would love for the movie to align with what you've outlined above. Excellent post!
I would prefer no planet moving scenes.
I would want less romance and more action in the movie..!
Not expecting any romance. Marvel has been down-playing romance in their films for a while now.
How would you react if Carol was Mar-Vell's daughter?
Oh come on, there's no way they would... wait a minute.
They did say that her origin story will be different.
And Jude Law *is* old enough to play Brie Larson's father.
And Carol's mother will allegedly be a scientist and play an important role in the movie, unlike her husband (who will be played by a much younger actor).
And let's not forget that in the comics, Mar-Vell does have two half-Kree children who both held the title of Captain Marvel for a while...
