Ygddrasil in the background sure looks tiny and small compared to the Midgard Serpent and Thor

I'm not sure the Iron man came counts. He said after AOU that he had 4 films left on his contract.

I am sure I read somewhere that IW will only count as one movie on the actors contracts as well because it is all filmed together.

This film is getting curiouser and curiouser. I certainly didn't expect this.

As long as they preserve the mythological elements of Ragnarok (and especially Surtur and Hela) I'm down with this. It certainly makes things interesting having Hulk smash his way into Asgard.

Portman never said she hated Thor 2. She moved past the Patty Jenkins stuff, was very positive during the release press tour, actively promoted the film and even talked about Thor 3 during all of it. I loved Hemsworth and Portman's chemistry in the first film. I understand it wasn't as well developed in the second but the plot was too convoluted for that. Hopefully they can get that chemistry back for the third to bring their story to some kind of meaningful conclusion.

Of course she didn't. It's just the Marvel fandom loves to put words into Natalie Portman's mouth. Until someone can provide a source for her supposed reluctance, I'm not buying it.

The fandom hatred of Jane absolutely sickens me. "Feminists" always complain about a lack of female representation in media. And then, when they get a smart, likeable and beautiful scientist played by one of the biggest names in Hollywood in a major blockbuster franchise, they call her "weak", "stupid" and a "damsel in distress", despite there being no grounds for these claims (especially in the first movie). I also loved Thor and Jane's relationship in Thor 1. I think their weaker chemistry in TDW can largely be chalked up to Alan Taylor.

I absolutely hope that it's announced soon that Portman will indeed be returning, if for no other reason than the fandom outrage it will cause.

LOL. I'm right there with you.

I like Jane but I think the chemistry between Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth could be better.

It was perfectly fine in the first film. It's the second film where things stagnated. That's what we're saying.

But really though, is this hinting at the serpent or just a total funny coincidence/treat

 it was great in the first movie. It wasn't awful in the sequel, but it should have been much better considering they hadn't seen each other in 2 years.

Jane and Banner will probably become quick friends with both being super smart scientist...
Should make for a few humorous moments talking shop at Thor's expense ....

I'm already more excited for this than CA:Civil War! With Hulk in, I think we should definitely expect some other heavy-duty power houses like The Executioner, Mangog, Ulik, or even Beta Ray Bill!

This! This movie is getting better and better!:woot:

The best chemistry in TDW was the final kiss in the after credits scene

and funny enough, that was Hemsworth's wife, Elsa Pataky who filled in for the then-pregnant Portman

so basically, they should just recast Portman to Pataky so we can get some decent chemistry up in this b****

The funny thing is, feminism is a sociological (and psychosocial concept) founded by a front sociologist and supported by others, (including personality theorist Karen Horney). "Feminism" has moved towards a fad in today's society. A lot of women who support feminism usually go to it as a social compensation for some internal complex, without actually understanding the foundation and the roots of actual feminism. The feminists you speak of usually meet this category. It's too bad, but just a product of today's socially constructed standards I suppose

That would be very cool. It was the Midgard Serpent that eventually killed Thor in Mythology during Ragnarok.

Seeing this pic did give me an idea. There has been rumors that a Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) Biopic is being planned with either Eric Bana or Hugh Jackman playing him. I think Chris Hemsworth would be absolutely perfect for that role. He even looks more like Steve.

Simon Baker or Joel Edgerton should be Steve Irwin if they're going off looks (and being a real australian)

which, with someone that well-known and recent, they kinda need to

anyway, I doubt the snake pic is a tease, isn't that just like a daily occurrence for an aussie? lol

Jane is nice, but I really don't want to see the earth and the professor and her sidekick(and the sidekick of her sideckick.)
Personally, I want to see the nine realms/space and ther warriors three and Sif.

I'm happy if she is back but without a plot on earth.

I honestly hope MS step up their game with this movie. Thor's a great character with some of the coolest mythology evah, and so far they only managed to churn out two "ok" movies.

But third time's the charm, that's what they say, so yeah.

It's funny because I'm skimming through the comment section of a well-known feminist geek site and I'm seeing a lot of people going "But is Jane going to be back and with a more substantial role?".

I don't think there's a specific category of people hating on her, it's more about individual taste. Not that I can blame anyone who does hate her, because well, I've got to admit that she is somewhat dull.

I think there is a specific group of people hating on her imo. It never fails that when Portman or Jane is mentioned on forums and boards, multiple people ALWAYS brings up that false rumor about her hating on being forced to do Thor 2. I bet you if I mentioned Elba(Heimdall), Hopkins(Odin) or to a lesser extent Weaving(Red Skull), hardly anyone is going to bring up their unhappiness with Marvel. Because unlike Portman, ALL of them have publicly expressed dissatisfaction with their roles and characters. We have the actual quotes. But people rarely pounce on them like they do Portman. I think most just try to use it as an excuse to justify their dislike of the character as well as trying to say that's a good reason for her not to be in the third.

I'm not gonna lie, cause I know this is a bit childish, but I hope she has a big role in film 3 just to piss off all the haters.

Well there was that rather stupid thread calling Elba an ungrateful bastard and suggesting he not be asked back for Thor 3 because "It's a PRIVILEGE to be part of the MCU!"

Yeah when I see people hating on Jane it's usually not feminists, it's usually the "WHY DOES THIS MOVIE NEED ROMANCE UGH I WANT MORE ACTION" crowd.

From actual women I usually just see more of a desire to see more women in these movies.

They have pretty much established Thor and Jane as a permanent couple so I think the writers will have an easier time with her role this go round....
With the money they are paying Portman, her part will be much more than just a cameo....
:woot: And she offers quite a bit of eye candy as well....Loved her Asgardian garb in TDW..

I thought Portman was stunning in TDW.

Why does Hermsworth have a ****ing snake?lol

I thought that was a joke about his member at first.

Yeah some people confuse a character with the actor. My dislike of the character of Jane has nothing to do with Portman, I love Natalie Portman as an actress.

My dislike stems more from the writing, and while Portman and Hemsworth have good chemistry, I feel like the love story between them was too rushed...Thor and Jane go from attraction to love too quickly. I mean Thor get's banished, spends a few days on earth... and this guy whose been around for hundreds of years, was worshiped in mythology as a God, and has probably romanced hundreds of women...suddenly get's his head turned by some human woman to the extent that he becomes a big sofie?

All over the course of a few days?

I don't buy it...I mean I enjoyed the film (both films) for the most part, but Thor and Jane just moved too quickly for me. I would have preferred it if they'd kept the attraction between them as just attraction with the potential for something more, and slowly morphed it into love over the course of a few films.

I mean Thor could have gotten humbled by just making friends with Jane and company, it didn't have to be some epic 'love story' that turned him humble.

And Jane is just not given enough to do, she's a rather one dimensional scientist in a whole universe full of scientists. What about her makes her stand out other then being Thor's love interest? We really don't know much about her. I hate comparisons but in my mind I can't help but think about Tony and Pepper whose love story felt much more real and believable then Thor and Jane's. And as a whole Pepper just felt like much more of a real (and likable) character then Jane.

Again this is all just my opinion, I enjoy the Thor films for the most part, but I'm sort of 'meh' with Jane, but not to the extent that she ruins the films. I just wish she could have been handled better as Portman is a great actress who can bring so much more to a character if given great material to work with.
