Yeah I always figured that was a deflection. It's not immovable in motion it's enchantment is about lifting it, or that's always been my understanding. Even in comics it's been deflected by powerful beings of various origins.
Mjolnir is SUPPOSED to keep going the direction it's thrown. Hence the hole in the Frost Beast's head lol
What Kurse did was a feat in itself tho. Hulk couldn't stop it either

Hela herself in the comics can, and has, deflected Mjolnir in the past. In one storyline she was holding Sif captive and when Thor threw Mjolnir at her, she just deflected it back at him using her powers and it knocked him out cold. :woot:

I think MCU Hela is going to be quite a lot more powerful than comics Hela, likely on a par with Odin so she'll probably cast some kind of reverse enchantment over Mjolnir resulting in her being able to lift it and Thor not being able to, which would explain why he doesn't have it when she casts him out to Sakaar.

Liking what I'm seeing. You can tell they're really stepping up their game with this one and I liked what the director says. If this works, this could feel like the first true Thor film. A re-introduction to him. Also with all this imagery, they're really subverting expectations with us, which is great. If this is done right, this has the potential to be the best of the Marvel studio films this year.

Also, technically speaking, Kurse didn't "move" Mjolnir, he just deflected it in flight. Mjolnir is no more immune to that than to Loki parrying its strikes. Doesn't require worthiness, just suitably crazy strength.

I suspect Hela will manage whatever she does with Mjolnir through a mix of "raw power" and "I have magical might on par with Odin". After all, *he* is the one who created the worthiness enchantment in the first place.

Have we seen anyone else stop/deflect the hammer when it's flying? Parrying a strike by Thor might just be stopping his force, but when he's thrown it not even Hulk could budge it from it's path.

Kurse was said to have power greater than any in Asgard, so to me he could do that because he was that powerful. As far as the MCU has shown at least.

Varth it has been deflected before in comics, like with Count Nefaria or Thanos. Obviously the Frost beast is not on a Hulk/Kursk/Thanos level. I just don't think it means anything like a being from "before time" is what made it possible. That's all.

Yeah.....right. Sure....whatever.

The Marvel Netflix shows are definitely a step or 2 below Arrow, Supergirl, Flash, and AoS. Netflix Marvel in in a free fall....HELP!!!
To each their own, but I prefer Marvel Netflix shows.

Arrow had 2 watchable seasons, those being the 1st two. The show declined hard after Deathstroke, Felicity should not be a big part of the show and Oliver is boring. I can only watch Arrow when I am borrowed and then I binge watch it.

Flash is good though Barry is an idiot and the speedster villains are tiresome. The character is my favorite so I have a soft spot for him.

I don't watch Supergirl or LoT. Supergirl I watched once and didn't care enough to go back. I don't get the concept of LoT seems like a show they made for the side characters. They didn't want them to be standing in the back of Flash and Arrow so they gave them a show.

AoS had been good, I didn't care for season 2 and 3 all that much.

THAT, (as C Lee once lectured me) me wee laddie is what's known as a joke. I don't think anyone (except maybe my buddy Mandon) could possibly think ANY of the DC CW shows comes within a mile of DD or JJ. AoS has been very uneven. Agent Carter I liked. Don't get me wrong, I watch Flash and Arrow and even LoT, Supergirl I can't watch (except the crossover). She's a very charming young woman, but needs some serious acting chops.

At the moment, I'm definitely more excited for Ragnarok than Homecoming and Guardians 2. Seeing Thor's new look yesterday along with the rest of the pics got me fully on-board and ready to go. This movie just feels fresh to me. Absolutely cannot wait to see Hulk, the EW article mentioned him having swagger.

From the way it sounds, it's the Helmet on the one poster with Hulk in his armor. Nice to finally have it confirmed!
Yeah, EW article confirmed Hela's headdress too. I hope to see Loki's as well.
And Cap moved it. However, how is Hela worthy?

I don't count Cap's situation, but I understand why you do.

Think about this... The Sakaar stuff is only part of the film. There is the cosmic buddy road trip aspect too.

I was just thinking about that, Krypton. Pretty damn exciting stuff; I don't know how this movie's gonna go and I love it. I hope we see the Hulk in Asgard.

I have always adored the CROSSROADS arc from WAY back in the day. If Hulk and Thor (possibly with Val and Loki in tow?) go bopping around the cosmos or across dimensions that's probably as close to seeing that story adapted as I will ever get to see. If anything, thinking on it... Yeah that stuff could have a lot of inherent humor to it. Would love if that is how it balances out:

Search for Odin on Earth with Strange-humor

Hela sends the story to the gladiator world of the Grandmaster where Val and Hulk get injected into the mix- serious

Thor/Hulk cosmic road trip- humor

Return of heroes and finale against Hela- serious

From the description of how Hela is holding Mjolnir maybe she catches it? Thor might hurl it at her and she just stops the hammer dead reaching out with her hand.

That would be a pretty bad@ss show of power right there. A wtf? moment for the audiences as well.

Any chance of Hela actually killing Odin and thereby making the enchantment null and void?

Regardless of what other studios do, Marvel Studios/the MCU tends to average around 6 months before the U.S. release date to drop the first teaser trailer. For T:R we can probably expect it to hit mid to late/April (quite likely just in time for it to be attached to GotG vol. 2)

almost guarantee with gotg2

however skull island is next week and hiddleston, samuel l AND brie are all in it

I could see this possibly happening. A similar thing happened in one episode of the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series. During a battle between the Avengers and the Masters of Evil, Amora the Enchantress used her magic to halt Thor's hammer in midair after he threw it, and then the hammer fell harmlessly to the floor.

He' gonna be in Asgard. The Hulk and Banner both we're spotted in the massive set they built for Asgard.

Yup it looks like they fly the Quinjet to Asgard at some point.

Intriguing footage description from the recent Disney shareholders meeting.

A shot of Cate Blanchett as Hela from Thor: Ragnarok, holding Mjolnir from the top, with the handle horizontal and extending away from her. Several shots of Thor and Hulk, both in gladiator garb, as seen in EW photos. Also, a shot of Thor putting his helmet on and turning side pieces of helmet from horizontal to vertical."

It sounds like Hela is holding mjolnir like the second image. But with the hand holding the top "rock".

I definitely don't think that Odin is going to survive this movie. I can't imagine that Hopkins will come back for another MCU entry (it sounds like he may have had to be persuaded to do this one) so it would the perfect point to off him. Heimdall too.

I've had that theory myself. I've also tossed around the idea that this could lead to a supercharged Thor and that maybe that's how he finally defeats Hela. It could also set the stage for a more formidable foe vs Thanos. Maybe he doesn't know how to fully utilize the Odin force at this point and that's his superhero weakness (they all have to have their kryptonite). I wonder how they are going to play Captain Marvel because she's about as supercharged as it gets and it probably the closest thing to Superman in MCU.

Yeh i gotta agree with you Fin. The death of Odin is something i also have been theorizing for a while. If i had to put a percentage on it i would say 90% chance he is gonna die in TR... I also thought that Heimdall could bite the dust but now i am not so sure.
