Im not familiar with the comics... but watching the Ultimate Avengers animation movie, I noticed that Thor flyes (thanks to the hammer), so I was a bit surprised, mainly because I wasn't expecting to see that on the Kenneth adaptation... but definetly we'll see it, lol

So.. how do you think the action scenes could be treated on the movie? do you expect big action sequences, or mostly dialogue/character developtment scenes?

i am sure their will be some big battles, heck we got loki, destroyer, talks of frost giants and i am sure other creatures will be around too.

BIG EPIC BATTLES.
However there has been no concrete evidence yet that Thor will fly.

yes, there hasnt been.

but if we just take the scene after the credits of Ironman, we could say that we can see him falling to earth, at the very least, hehe

Thor's major powers from the classic comics:

- Flight via Mjolnir
- Super-strength/durability
- Weather manipulation (including shooting lightning from Mjolnir)
- Creation of portals that allow him and others to travel between dimensions via Mjolnir
- Various energy manipulation abilities via Mjolnir (most often deflecting/absorbing energy)
- Boomerang effect with Mjolnir (he throws it and it always returns to his hand, regardless of what's in its way)

There are other, more obscure powers, but those are the ones that you'll generally see him using a lot if you read through a few of his comics. So as long as we get a solid indication in the action scenes that Thor has those powers (minus the portal one, maybe, since that might be a bit awkward to work into the film), I'll be happy.

Ive said this before. I just need to see this and Ill be good :D

He's more powerfull than I thought :wow:

Ive just finished Hulk vs Thor movie. I liked it. :woot:

Im really curious to see what Kenneth can do with this whole world and specially with his powers. This can be one of the best Marvel movie of all times. Mitology more epic action? cant waaait!

I don't think they'll show any flying at all sadly... plus I think the scale of the battles will be much smaller than we think especially since the final battle will be only a One on One with the Destroyer character instead of what I was hoping for was a huge fight between Thor and the forces of Loki invading Earth...

Thor vs. the Destroyer pretty much screams "epic" to me. Some of their fights in the comics have been balls-to-the-wall insane.

I don't see why they wouldn't have Thor fly, either. They show Iron Man flying around plenty in his movies...

I hope they limit slow motion shots as well as quick edited fighting.

Making Thor fly is much more difficult (and costlier) than Iron Man due mostly to the flowing cape and long blonde locks.

That said, they will unquestionably have Thor fly. A Thor movie without hammer-induced flight is like a Spidey move without web-slinging.

They don't even have to make it explicitly hammer-based flight for me to be cool with it. I just want Thor to fly. If that means just holding the hammer up and taking off rather than doing the classic wind-up and hammer-toss, I could deal with it. I have the nagging feeling that the classic means of Thor's flight will look a bit silly in live-action.

well we know when the first started filmnig they were doing big epic battle scene first for end of the film. the destroyer fight is probably just a smaller fight within the film. and there is no reason thor wont be flying.

Funny thing is, you can't argue that the hammer making Thor flying is unrealistic. This is another world. Where gods live. It's not TIH or Iron Man, where you rely on a great deal of realism. Pretty much anything is possible. If it's limited to not flying... I'd say phuck this movie.

That takes me back to the reports prior to Iron Man 1 that there were no flying scenes.

I totally agree; in fact, I'm leaning to non hammer-induced flight to be honest.

And I'd [respectfully] say that you cant be much of a Thor fan if you'd let that stop you from finally seeing the big guy's silver screen debut.

But, hey, that's just me.

either 180 or 200 mil it's been awhile since the budget was set.

I think Thor scene will be amazing and very physical, for what I have seen in imdb, lot of "asgardians" background characters are martial art actors/stunt men, so I think we should wait something very spectacular and very visual.:yay:

There is NO WAY he wont fly in this movie. Having Thor not fly is like having Tony Stark without his check piece. Its the very essence of the character and what makes him unique. I feel thats like them not having Mjolnir in the film.

Thor flys without the hammer?...........I don't know about that.
I think being pulled behind mjolnir is the only way to go.
