No, I think it is pretty common.

If most of america would join a gym instead of buying all this work at home equipment I think the country would be a lot less fat.
actually, if they'd laid off the McCrapburgers, sodas and actually got off their butts and realized that in order for you to get results you need to actually go through some physical work, then there'd be less fat people

it always makes me laugh how everybody wants to loose weight and get those dreamy abs without having to actually work for that

I'm taking a PHED class this semster. I'm hoping to drop a pound or two.

DV8 has ringworm! Unclean! Unclean!

LOL! I knew you I could count on jag for a smart-ass comment like that ;)

seriously though . . . it really killed my confidence having it . . . I didn't realize I had athlete's foot for like a month . . . then I started buying lamisil, and every other brand of athlete's foot creme under the sun . . . everytime I would use it until the rash was gone, and the shyt came RIGHT BACK!!! and I'm a clean guy, I shower sometimes 2 or 3 times a day . . . and that creme is EXPENSIVE!!

I didn't even SHOWER at the gym, but I think it caught onto my socks, and then spread to my shoes . . . one day I was playing my drums w/ my shoes and no socks, and that's what pry did it :(

so I finally ended up going to the doctor, and they told me I had athlete's foot and eczema . . . and that's why the shyt kept coming back

anyway, let this be a lesson in locker room cleanliness to you all ;)

If most of America would just work out, there could be a lot less fat people in this country. Just joining a gym doesn't make them any more likely to work out than if they have equipment at home, to be honest. No matter where the equipment is, they have to actually use it. And if they'd stop eating absolute crap, and a lot of it, and get on a sensible diet, that would help as well.

DV8's right. I HATE nastiness at the gym. I get so pissed when I see people not wiping off the machines they just used...its nasty. Use a damn towel!

Plus having to wait for my fave ab machine is annoying as well...but its actually been better for me because I just do weighted crunches while I wait.

man . . . the some of the shyt that went on in that locker room I will never speak of (no homo shyt though, jag) :D

seriously, I would see shyt and blood in the stalls sometimes, and one time I almost fuackin lost it . . . DIRTY OLD BASTARDS!!!

in a very interesting (and weird) note, I've found that Madonna's Immaculate Collection to have the perfect tempo for working out

LMAO!! I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually have that CD lying around somewhere :D :( :O

It's not weird, in fact, it's very common. Most people who buy home exercise equipment leave it to gather dust in the corner because they stay motivated for a week and it dies off. Unless you really enjoy working out and love the feeling, it'll be hard to motivate yourself to do it. But remember its equally hard to force yourself to go to the gym. I had a membership once and it didn't work for me. I figured why am I spending money to go somewhere else to get all sweaty, while ugly dudes ogle me, when I could a set of push-ups here for free.

So really, its whatever works best for you. :o

Thanks everyone.

Runt> It's like this:

Yes, it's weird, you freak! :cmad:
No, it's not. I do it too :csad:

People are finally catching on to eating healthy, which is great.

But the last time I was on a plane all they had were unsalted peanuts and SunChips for snacks and I adamantly hate both. Wtf? I'm in shape and I shouldn't have to suffer on my plane ride because fatty over there has eaten fifteen Big Macs per week and considers channel surfing exercise. :cmad:

And actually going through the work and money of joing a gym might motivate more Americans do that.

I don't think it's weird at all....
The real question is... are you going to be motivated to go to the gym? And, what is going to be the motivation to go to the gym.

There's money and time involved in home gym equipment, too (someone's gotta put that stuff together after it arrives, and it isn't going to be the UPS guy). I know a ton of people who have a gym membership who go maybe once a month, if that. Just having the equipment or a gym membership won't get people in shape, though there are apparently a lot of people who seem to think so because they pay for it anyway even though they don't use it.

What would motivate them to join a gym in the first place?

Okay... I've been out logiced.

LOL! hell yeah, I can't watch TV when working out, because you're not really concentrating . . . that's why there are so many people you see at the gym all the time but never lose weight . . . YOU'RE AT THE GYM TO WORKOUT!!!! YOU CAN WATCH TV AT HOME! :rolleyes"

but I can't workout w/o some good, pump-you-up jams . . . Rage Against the Machine, and some good hard-hitting hip-hop always get me going

Actually at one of the gyms I was a member of they had mini-TVs on the the treadmills, I liked to use those if I was at the gym and a football or baseball game was on, mainly just listening. Lots of people were watching sitcoms and stuff though.

I've just moved on to running outside though, lifting weights doesn't do anything for me since my metabolism is so fast I can't gain the weight needed to convert that into muscle.

right . . . I mean, some shyt is okay to watch, as long as you aren't trying to follow the plot to the show you're watching LOL! or reading a book . . . I could never do that . . .

so you're like Forrest Gump now? :D

ok, so I really like to bump that latest Justin Timberlake . . . goes hand in hand w/ the Madonna, and I'm not one bit embarassed . . .
