wolverine has "snikt"
spider-man has "thwip"

Cyke used to always have "zapt" or "zakt".

The 'thwip" came years (decades) before McFarlane was at Marvel. I don't think the "sound effects" are credited to the artist; they're probably done by the writer or the letterer. I think you're confusing McFarlane's influence in the way the webbing looked in what has been affectionally called "spaghetti" style webbing.

i just assumed that if he made that change to the webbing then he may have done the sound effect, but having a look at some older comics will probs prove me very wrong, yes. also its the letterer that does the sound effects isnt it? so probs woulda been a letterer that first came up with the sound effect

Unrelated question. can you put images in your signature? thanx.

Cyclops used to have ZARK at one point. Dunno why the got ridda that.

He's a poster on this board....oh...you meant in the comic books. :O

"zark". heh, sounds a bit odd but its those little things you associate with characters that build up their popularity. like the way pete holds his fingers and "thwipp" noise is made or wolvie's "snikt." its a part of what we associate them with now.

heh heh Zark! man... i wish I had a signature sound affect.
Froof! bjznah! yowp!
heh heh... fun.

I remember they used to use "THOOM" for Thor's hammer when it hit something. I haven't read a comic in ages so they still may use it. :venom:
