Mia Wasikowska felt "isolated" on 'Alice'

Mia Wasikowska has admitted that filming Alice In Wonderland was an "isolating" experience.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the 20-year-old Australian explained that she found it difficult to act on greenscreen sets.

"I was basically planted in this sea of green," she said. "I really had to use my imagination."

Tim Burton's adaptation of Lewis Carroll's fantasy story, which casts Wasikowska in the title role, sees Alice return to Wonderland 12 years after her first visit.

"She's grown up a lot and is somewhat a different person, and she's kind of going back to her roots and discovering herself," Wasikowska added.

Discussing her character's relationship with Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter, she said: "Theyre on the same side. They have an understanding about each other. They both feel like outsiders and feel alone in their separate worlds, and have a special bond and friendship."

the girl playing Alice is so plain and boring looking:dry:

man Burton should have used that blonde big breasted chick from Sweeney Todd. She was gorgeous...

That said, heavy use of pure green screen sets is also a good test to an actor's skills and ability to visualize a scene consistently (including the position of things). Also, it gives the actors greater room for creativity and spontaneity by reacting to additional things of their own making that if good would further inspire the CGI artists and enrich the movie.

She would've been alot better than the plain Jane they cast.

Really? I think casting Mia Wasikowska is a fresh of breath air. These are the types of movies that new and up and coming stars breakout in. I think she will surprise us all, at least it is worth waiting to see...in my opinion, especially since the cast is already so full with Hathaway, Depp, Rickman and Bonham Carter..

Don't know why Burton opted to use so much CG in this. Wasn't he paying attention when the Star Wars PT were so heavily berated for making the same mistake?

The prequels were berated more because of **** dialogue and wooden acting.

This doesn't seem like something Burton would be happy with... didnt he say he kind of regrets the Prince songs in Batman (1989) as it dates the movie.

Let's hope these songs aren't present within the actual movie and this soundtrack is only a marketing tool. As much as I like Avril Lavinge etc... modern music never seems to go well with Tim Burton/Danny Elfman projects.

Hope they release a score soundtrack as well...

Also... New Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter quad poster...

Is it just me or is it just AWFUL?

Now Disney are really beginning to shove the Mad Hatter down our throats... at least put Alice in there somewhere...

It's not as if there aint enough background space:whatever:

Why does the cover say "Almost Alice"?

It's the name of the album. This'll be the album with the band-performed songs from the movie, and I guess Danny Elfman's score album will be the "original motion picture soundtrack".

I think it is unique that they are releasing this soundtrack. I definitely plan on buying it when it comes out. It has more than a handful of my favorite bands and artists. Good collection!

while the mad hatter is one of my favourite literature characters ever

i really think they are going a little bit overkill in the marketing for the movie, i know its johnny depp and he is a big draw to the G.A for whatever the movie

but the name of the movie is ALICE in wonderland.... NOT THE MISADVENTURES OF THE MADD HATTER
