You judge a ****ing action scene by using blurry spy cam pics and call it low budget? ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?
but 95% of SHH members are juding the suit and praising it based on blurry spy cam pics.

god i hope sony imageworks isn't on the effects for this. please..
You don't know what you're talking about. Sony Imageworks were forced to apply that colour change to Superman Returns. They were so pissed with the ultimate result, and the public's reaction, that they posted unaltered footage on their website to show their support. It was never their decision to make, so don't blame someone who's not responsible.

I'm with some here; I'm not a huge fan of Sony Imageworks. Their work has been inconsistent and average despite having the 'Sony' nametag. Sure they have done good work before but they're not as reliable as they should be.

If they can't get iLM or WETA, get Digital Domain or Double Negative.

Somehow I doubt the backlash towards IMW has anything at all to do with their color grading. Just a hunch.

You know, this is some of the most entertaining forum banter I've ever seen.

Where have all you guys come from?

There are a few of us Superman nuts who post on these boards even through the dead, no news times, who despite disagreeing on many things, actually have decent, intelligent, unoffensive and interesting things to say.

And then we see a pic of the new suit and it's like INVASION OF THE TROLLS!

:hehe:

It's great stuff. But you'll excuse me if I don't take any of this seriously.

I mean, people are actually saying it looks low budget!

Judging by the spy pics (I know such a heinous and unspeakable act), I like what I see so far (kudos to whomever pointed out mocap guy's backside ;)). But even though I'm excited I'm also remaining cautious. After all Nolan's involved so we should keep "realistic" expectations. :rimshot:

I know I suck...

I don't know who you consider trolls in this thread, but I'd be highly offended if you considered me one. I'm a real fan through and through, and one of the very few not whining about the new costume's look.

I was merely saying that I believe Sony Imageworks had little to say in the way of the final look of the film. After all, their site listed a video containing unaltered footage of Superman Returns for a long time during the film's initial release.

Personally I thought Sony did an okay job on Superman Returns but did a poor job with Green Lantern (poor management of time and money did play a factor) and Spider-Man 3.

So whom do guys have in mind for the special effects? I'm not a big fan of Sony. Even though they're most likely to do it.

all you new people actually think this is bad?...

you havent seen anything concerning a Superman movie... you should of been here in '04, when the Superman Returns promo picture was released... all hell broke loose in this forum when that hit the net...

this aint nothing compared to the kind of backlash that suit got. I'm actually very surprised at how well this suit concept is relating to people on the Superman forums. Yes there are those who hate it... but nowhere- and i do mean nowhere- NEAR the level of hatred the SR suit got. I still remember the threads being made about it, and the endless fighting over how it was not the classic suit, the constant bannings, etc... believe me, I was among those who hated it.

i would say be happy we have a largely positive reaction to this one...
they did something right...

for me, even though i am a purist and traditionalist, i still like the new suit.
it's the colors that... well, i dont want to say that they sold me, because i have never seen a suit that I'e been sold on... yet.

I agree, they did an okay job, but if you see the unaltered footage, it really makes you wonder why they made the entire film look so bleak.
Green Lantern was ridiculous. They show the first trailer, everyone bombs the suit, and then they go back to change the entire thing.
That's not a good way of promoting your work...:cwink:
I always felt the action sequences in Spiderman 3 were incredibly fake looking. Green Goblin almost looked like an action figure at times.

They get gigs because they're Sony and also the one of the only big CG companies in LA besides Digital Domain.

But with all of the resources, I don't get why they can't be more groundbreaking,

location means nothing today.
i think WB has a good relationship woth Sony and they will always use them for effects. only if the director has a special wish.

Nice new set pics! It seems as though we're going to be getting a brutal fight judging by these pics.

:D no YOUR not a troll!

It's just funny how many people whose names I've never seen before in these forums, come on a thread like this just to say.

'The new suit Sucks, anyone who loves it isn't a fan!'

Or 'Yay, the *insert offensive word for trunks* are gone, now he looks COOL!'

As if that contributes anything to the discussion...

Wow I've never heard of this before.

I do think SI is one of the weaker effects studios tho.

If shooting had started with the Metropolis scenes, you'd have a lot of complaining about how Smallville is being left out.

You're forgetting the official image. That's what earned the suit it's praise.

Well, I may be going overboard on the details, to be honest, it's a little vague, but I definitely know that SIW hosted unaltered footage on their own website after the colours got publicly dissed. It was their way of showing the film could have looked completely different. If it was their move or the studio's to change the colour, I'll leave in the middle.

Yeah, that is funny. I was around for that and admittedly a hater of the suit, though I actually like it quite a bit now.

I was thinking about the difference in reaction and I feel like it's because with SR, we'd been waiting 20 years for another film. Considering that it's only been a 5 year wait -- 7 by the time it comes out -- and seeing as SR was a slight disappointment (though there are things I like about), I think people are a little more open to a little change. I know I am.

yeah it had nothing to do with the color. it's their propensity to make beings look too cartoony.
