I'm in the throws of a serious debate with myself. I want to get into collecting superheroes. I've thought, oh I'll just do Spider-Man characters. Oh, just the X-Men. But then I think about characters I like in the Marvel Universe that I'd definitely want (She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, Iron Man, Cap, and Thor to name a few) and that throws me away from collecting just Spidey/X Characters.

Mind you this would come second to a collection of Doctor Who figures I've already started.

So I'm really torn on what to do, do I just focus on Spidey, or X-Men, or get all my favorites from the Marvel Universe (which could become time consuming and take money.)

I'm really no sure what to do to be honest. What do you guys think?

What it comes down to is:
1. Do you enjoy collecting figures?
2. Do you have the income to dispose to collect said figures?
3. Do you have something else you would rather collect and or buy?

If you answer yes to 1 and 2 and No to 3 then you have answered your own question.
I have recently lessened my collecting. It is fun to collect but always in moderation.

God Bless!

Well, with Doctor Who being an ongoing series at the height of it's popularity, I'm sure they'll be a ton of figures I'll be getting there.

I would like to see have some of the Marvel figures and I do like collecting the Who figures. It's a question really of which ones I should go for.

I say that you should just get the MU figures that you want.

But if money is a little tight at the time and you have to secide between Spiderman and Ms Marvel....get Ms Marvel, because Spiderman will be along again.....heck in the first 3 waves there were 2 Punishers.

I know not many of you are fans of the Marvel Universe line too, but in fear of money concerns since some of the Legends figures go for ridiculous prices I've even thought about collecting those instead.

And I'm not even a fan of that line. The Ms. Marvel on that line is a hideous figure.

i say go with legends... they kick ass. sure some might take a while to aquire, but worth it in the end.

i started out just collecting xmen/spiderman figures
then it was just "cool" characters
by the time ml15 was around i decided to cut back to just xmen and spiderman
lately ive decided to sell my xmen figures to buy my wife a new tattoo
so its now down to just spiderman figures

there is really two questions here...

1. do you have the money?
2. what do you care about more?

i used to collect all the marvel stuff then started on dr who so i had to cut back on the marvel stuff and just gave up completely when hasbro took over. this allowed me to collect different mini collections (such as watchmen, TMNT and the up coming ghostbusters) cause it works out the same price or cheaper i reckon... if you can't afford a fully blown collection of EVERY marvel character/ML/MU/whatever and it would annoy you if you didn't complete them all then give up before you start and save for some awesome stuff. with the whole mini collection thing i've been able to buy things like statues and 12" action figures i wouldn't have been able to before with the two collections.

anyhow, space is also a massive factor...so go for MU stuff if you go for any i say...

Well for me I just collect whatever characters I enjoy.I never get repeats of characters unless It's Spider-man or Venom{With Venom though I stopped collecting remakes}Also with Spidey I don't collect any of the ridiculous stuff like Scuba Spider-man or anything like that.I have a couple ML displays and see no need to collect MU or Marvel Select.Just collect what you want.Don't collect MU just cause it'll be cheaper but you won't enjoy the figures.Just get whatever you'll enjoy and look for deals.I have a few ML for sale I'll sell them for cheap.

I used to collect a bunch of figures, but it started getting too expensive and had much better things to spend money on. Now I pretty much get the statue/mini-bust type stuff. It's pretty limited to the Ultimate line though, I've got all 5 Ultimates Busts, Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Nick Fury, the Fantastic Four, Unmasked Spidey and Green Goblin. Thinking about looking for Doc Ock soon, hard to find one reasonably priced though, then might look into the X-Men, most of those I can find pretty cheap on eBay.

It's good to have variety in any collection. If you collect just one thing, it becomes crazy. Not only will it look crazy to other people but you will start to get crazy. For example, if you start collecting just Spiderman figures, you won't be able to stop. The habit will overtake the actual enjoyment of the hobby. Any Spiderman figure you don't have that you find online, at a toy store, at a garage sale, your habit will take control. You would even start seeking out expensive Spiderman collectables in other countries. You will just snatch it up without a thought. It's just the nature of collecting. So having variety in an action figure collection is much more healthy and satisfying.

I used to not collect figures, only comics with an occasional figure here and there, but nothing serious. Recently I discovered a comic shop near me that sold all the old stuff of my childhood, real vintage star wars, thundercats, Justice league, etc. So I started buying them as soon as I had the cash, but it can be addictive, and real expensive if you already have a weekly stack you pick up like I do. Go slow, buy what you like, an have fun. If you enjoy it, then go for it
