To Me, My Board - Silver Surfer Movie Fancast

The X-Men & Fantastic Four seem to be first to everyone's minds when talking about what Fox property Marvel should reboot first in to the MCU.

However the X-Men have had a plethora of movies with more on the way. And the Fantastic Four movies (especially the most recent) have been received very badly.

This is why I think that Marvel would do well to not make either of these two there first project and allow people's desire for both X-Men & Fantastic Four movies to return and build.

With that in mind I think the best recently required character they should give their own movie is The Silver Surfer!


A big complaint of Superhero movies is lack or originality. The Silver Surfer has a great story to adapt that has been overly done.

With that in mind I thought it would be interesting who you all would cast as both

Norrin Radd/The Silver Surfer -

And of course his master

Galactus -

Not at all I was just thinking of a story stand point the only two that would definitely need to be in it are Silver Surfer and Galactus.

Open to more casting suggestions? You probably know a lot more about the character than me.

I don't know him any better. I honestly didn't think there were any characters for real, other than his dead wife, but there is a sort of companion character named Dawn Greenwood who could be in the story too. It seems like a lot of Silver Surfer's stories involve him getting involved in the lives of random people and aliens and superheroes. He doesn't seem to have much of a 'story' that is about him, exactly.

John Lee Miller as Radd/Surfer.

Patrick Stewart as Radd's Father AND as the booming voice of Galactus.

Surfer's dad committed suicide on their home planet and this affected him greatly. Stewart is versatile enough to play both Surfer's father on set for flashbacks and can go booming and commanding as the voice for Galactus, essentially playing both of the father figures in both phases of Norrin's life.

Keanu Reeves, Zachary Quinto or Mark Strong are the three that really stand out for me.

How about Darren Criss for the Surfer?

Anyone who has recently watched American Crime Story will know his range. And what's impressive is how he manages to elicit sympathy for his character, even though we the audience know he's an absolute monster. I think this would really be important for any Silver Surfer movie, considering Norrin is such a detached, sometimes even depressed, character.

Been thinking about Kiefer Sutherland doing the voice and it just seems perfect to me now lol.

Kiefer Sutherland now would be pretty damn awesome as the Silver Surfer especially thinking about it now...his voice is just so damn iconic and it would go well with the character too

Kiefer I could maybe see for Galactus but surfer? I don't know.

I think surfer needs a more philosophical voice. The voice that says why to everything and is amazed by wonder

I know he was in Guardians but Michael Rosenbaum could work in this role pretty well.

For some time now and from a few different people in the know I have heard that a relatively unknown actor named Brert Stanfield who is currently atop the list of new comers to watch as well see as one of the next big breakout stars. But above all that it seems he is and will be the silver surfer in the MCU.
I believe the recent talk about Lakeith Stanfield playing the part was out of confusion when someone only heard the last name Stanfield and assumed they must have meant Laikith. I also went online and I found some photos of him and the guy looks just like the surfe. I'm attaching a photo.

I'm Ken from Culver City/Los Angeles Ca. I am currently in my 28th yr as an "IATSE"- Below the Line, film technician. I Started as a bb grip, then a gaffer for 10yrs, but the last 17yrs I'm an armorer aka weapons master.
Ive worked over 120 films or TV Series. I have worked shoots all over the world but since covid I only work LA & Atl.
I just wanted to give you a bit of my own background so you will understand how it is that I came by this information and am 100% positive its true and reliable. I hear things a lot and I've gotten used to ignoring it even if it comes from a studio executive or a big shot producer and the biggest reason is I have come to know that things change so oftern and so fast in the development/pre-production stage. However in this case over the course of a year- maybe more I heard the same thing from 5 extremely in the know, big-big shot people in the industry who have a hand in the MCU and other Disney properties and there was in fact 1 man who I'm sure you all know by name who I heard speaking about it on the phone in terms that to me seemed like a deal that cannot be undone without a tremendous loss to everyone. Finally I asked an old friend of mine about it and he is about 4 rungs down the ladder from the top. When I asked he was shocked I knew & in his own way gave me a 100% confirmation.
The actor who they have chosen is a relatively unknown newcomer with a few credits in things like "Detroiters", "Transformers; The Last Knight", and "BvS Dawn of Justice". I did learn they he seems to be on this town's radar as the next big newcomer to watch.
A couple of the bits I overheard were hes a talented actor and his voice blew everyone away at his test. So sounds like hes not just gonna be the body and use an A-List actors voice like in the fantastic 4 movie. Hopefully that means hes going to look a lot more practical not all CGI enhanced like the last one either.
