Ok so we've gotten news that toby is still interested in playin the web head and that sony still wants him.... well he's also been attached to robotech(here's the link to the robotech news http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/06/13/lawrence-kasdans-robotech/) which tobey has said he's a HUGE fan and is actually to direct and star.... We kno that robotech is a potential franchise and is an AWESOME anime... so wat you think.. You think tobey will return to the webslinger or begin fresh with robotech?

Robotech won't eat away 10 constant years of his life if it makes a trilogy...which I doubt.

I imagine if he is starring in multiple Robotech movies he may not want to continue being Spider-Man then. Time will tell. I just hope somebody one day makes a Gundam Wing trilogy.

Anyway, if it is confirmed he is starring in them, don't expect him back for SM4, in which case don't expect Sam back either.

Gundam would be awesome! And yea I honestly think they can make a franchise outta robotech.... and if tobey is as much of a fan of robotech like he's stated.. I don't see him returning as spiderman

I think he'll return to the Spidey franchise. It's probably much bigger and offers much more money in his eyes, just like ours.

Tobey doesn't want to come back. I have a close friend who works in Hollywood for a producer at Universal. He met Tobey at a meeting and told me Tobey wants out.

I believe I saw a snippet on DH that an actor named Andrew Garfield will be a major contender. Guess we'll see how this pans out.

Toby already stated when they were making Spider-Man 3,that he was pretty much ready to hang up the costume.Remember they talking about getting Jake Gyln (Broke Back Mountain) to replace him. Also Kristen Durst mentioned that Spidey 3 was probably it for her, didn't they have to give them a load a money for them to do the 3rd one,if I recall????

If they can't get the ppl from the first trilogy to come back they should just either wait, or quit. Tobey IS spider-Man. I can't see anyone else as that role. i'm sorry I just can't. And the way the stroy went with the trilogy, it seems like the stroy could end there.

I'm looking forward for this Robotech. I think Tobey will do a great job in it.
and I think I prefer him in this over Spidey.

Meh, if they are going to make a Gundam movie. It has to be the original Mobile Suit Gundam, which Wing is kind of a rip off of anyway.

But I honestly hope they never do. Gundam is too good for Hollywood.

But if Robotech is good and not another Speed Racer, then maybe Anime movies won't sound like such a bad idea.

Not remotely.

I understand being partial to an actor in a role, but I've never understood this '____ IS whatever hero' bull**** that people like to throw around, be it Spider-Man, Batman, Wolverine or anyone else.

To be of the mind that only one person is capable of doing justice to a role (in front of or behind the camera) is incredibly short-sighted. I've enjoyed these three films (well, at least the first two :o), but to act as if Tobey is the end all-be all to Spider-Man is ridiculous.

Exactly, any actor or director can easily be replaced. Especially when it comes to the comic book films that has been made in the last decade.

It's not that he can't be replaced, but rather that so many people have identified with him for the last 6-7 years. There are better actors than Maguire, but he has really defined the role for a lot of people. Personally, I can't imagine anyone else as Peter Parker.

If adam brody had straight hair and not curly he would be parker... topher grace COULD have been parker as well..... that's just names off the top of my head

he's the closest you'll ever get to Peter.
:whatever:

I laugh at how naive you are

:up::up:

I have a feeling that Maguire and Dunst are done with their roles, I do however think that Raimi may be interested in serving in some sort of consultant capacity for SM4. He will not want to direct if Maguire and Dunst don't return, which they wont.

things do get kind of nuts when NEW PEOPLE get on board major franchises... let's hope Raimey is still in... changing directors is the worst.

remember what happened to batman franchise w/ Batman Forever
