Ok...

Toddler Boy Being Cast for Spider-Man 4?
Source:SpoilerTV November 16, 2009

SpoilerTV has posted an interesting casting call for Spider-Man 4.
According to the site, the production is looking for a "2 or 3 year old boy to play 2 year old, Caucasian with RED HAIR, an adorable toddler with an engaging personality, on set experience preferred. IDENTICAL TWINS ONLY."

We don't want to jump to any conclusions, but the "Red Hair" mentioned is certainly interesting. Stay tuned for whether this will be significant at all.

The fourth installment is targeted for a May 5, 2011 release.

Hmm, this is quite interesting. I 'm thinking Billy, even though he's blonde.

Usually identical twins are cast so the actors can be switched out as the young children are limited to only a short time of shooting per day.

Which means: the role that those twins are playing has a good amount of screentime.

Dr. Curt Connors' son, Billy, is a natural blonde, although his wife, Martha, is a red head. Mary Jane Watson does not have a son in the comics, although she is a natural red head as well.

yeah i was gonna say Doc Connor's boy but he is blonde in the comics and they are specifically asking for a red head

Not necessarily. It just means that they will be on set for long periods of a time, which is not uncommon for any particular scene.

Even movie extras that don't even get a minutes worth of screen time spend over 6 hours on set.

Anybody else worried that this could be a *gulp* Spider-Baby?

It could be like this:
The villain has set a building or something on fire (or, it's an accident, but it would be cooler if the villain did it). Inside the building, there's a young kid who Spidey tries to resque. The kid and Spidey have some dialogue in the meanwhile (that's where the specific personality enters the picture). Spidey could say something about the kid's red hair or something, I don't know.

Or, it could be like this:
The villain holds a random little innocent kid as hostage while threatening Spidey that if he (Spidey) tries anything, he (the villain) will kill the kid. During that scene, the kid has some dialogue with the villain. Don't know how the red hair would have any relevance though.

If Peter and MJ gets a kid in this one, I'll think not twice, but ten times before I decide to see the movie or not...

Let's create some hysteria "Its teh Super-Man returns effect again LOLS!!!111"

Red hair? I sure hope it's not Peter and MJ's kid. It's either Doc Connors kid or just a random kid that needs to be saved or something. But I find MarvelMovies' comment pretty interesting, too... but I doubt it's to play a young Cletus Cassidy... I don't see the symbiotes coming anywhere near this franchise for a long time to come....

Some of the reactions on the Hype front page are hilarious. "Cletus Cassidy! Spider-Man's child!". It's probably either the child of a supporting character or, judging from the "engaging personality" line, an annoying extra who will get too much screen time.

Long time to come? We just had a symbiote in Spider-man 3. How is it so unlikely for them to return?

You never know.

They crammed a son into Superman Returns.

The first thing that popped into my mind was "Oh God. Peter and MJ have a son."

I thought that, i mean the spec says adorable... dont think cleatus is discribed as this, but then you look at peter and he is classed as adorable and then you have mary jane with red hair... its spidermans son

As long as Raimi is in charge that is. He never really had it for them and was forced to use them in SM3, so as long as he's the director, I don't see them returning.

i think everyone and their moms thought that but logic would tell you (if you follow the comics) Spider-Man doesn't have kid until he's fought all his enemies and back again.

Maybe they want to take the anakin skywalker approach and have an adorable boy become the ultimate representation of evil. :oldrazz:
In this case, a pyschotic serial killer.
