He's talking about the wrestler. He wore face paint that was similar to the Crow for about 15 years and now he wears face paint like the Heath Ledger Joker.

that looks pretty cool lol...i am aware stong is still wrestling...i remember first seeing him when i was 5...damn its been long lol

If he was using so much roids, I would think he would be bigger.

Well, we just got word from an extra that Bane has a British accent. So Bane doesn't look like Bane, he doesn't sound like Bane, the only thing about Bane that is identifiable as Bane, is his name.

They might as well just created a completely new villain for this movie.

From Nolan Fans...

"It's my really Serbian or british. Can't really describe it words. It's unique in a good way and he absolutely murdered the scene he was in just now.

No joke, the crowd was estactic after he left for a bit. He KILLED this scene. Trust me I had some doubts on Bane before but no way after that."

Ra's al Ghul was played by an Irish actor with an English accent, and it wasn't the end of the world.

The plot of the film apparently drawing inspiration from Knightfall, Bane of the Demon and No Man's Land - 3 of the most famous stories to feature Bane - seems to suggest that Bane was picked for a good reason. It's a new interpretation of the character - that much was said in the initial press release announcing who Hardy was playing - but there's no reason for Hardy's performance not to be true to the spirit of what Bane represents.

Hardys british accent is great. How can one NOT be thrilled at that?

And also, Heimdals characterdidnt change in THOR because they chose a black actor (which ruled that part btw), he still was the same great god as hes always been. And I doubt theyll change Perry White in MOS because of that too, so why the **** would it change the character if the accent is not like it is in the comics?

So it's a cross between Serbian and British?

Alrighty...

It hasn't been officially confirmed that Bane is Russian/Serbian though? It's just from some guy who thinks he heard an accent that sounded Serb.

For one most Americans aren't very good at figuring out accents. So I'm not taking this report to heart at all until we get something official.

So personally I'd rest easy until we get something more reliable.

Well you know what, Bane could be a chick and I wouldn't care as long as she still had the same character. It's all about personality folks.

And Ras has always had an English accent in anything he's been in.

He has an English accent in another adaptation. But in the comics he is of Middle-Eastern descent.

Really, people give "Nolanites" a hard time for shifting their opinions about what's important about characters based on what Nolan does in the films, but I think some people are just as prone to shift their preferences based on what Nolan DOESN'T do in order to be angrier.

"Bane being 6 foot 4 has always been his definitive feature as a character for me in the comics. That, and his Spanish accent. Yes, I've always found his Spanish accent to be his most striking feature in the silent comic books he appears in."

And Bane isn't Spanish in the comics. He comes from a fictional Carribean Republic called Santa Prisca, which has always been depicted as a cultural melting pot. Being raised in a prison with all kinds of races inside, who's to say what accent he'd have?

we all know that in hollywood they like to have the villain british. and i imagine that WB hated the idea that a villain would have a spanish accent. they thought it sounds campy IMO.

cliche it is.

You know, they created Bane just for the Knightfall storyline.

What are you talking about? I'm not shifting any opinion of what I thought was important to the character. I've ALWAYS said I thought the South American accent was important to the character. You can look up posts I made months ago saying just that.

Yes, I know the character quite well, but what you forgot about, is that Bane grew up in prison. I don't think he had time to roam the country side, and take in all the different cultures. He has a South American accent in the books, and most of his depictions. He even had a teddy bear he called Osito, which is a Spanish name fro little bear.

No they didn't. He was first introduced in Vengeance of Bane that came out in January 1993. Knightfall came out in around June or July of '93. That's 6-7 months after Vengeance of Bane.

"Vengeance of Bane" was created as a prelude, they already had Knightfall in mind, of course.

I did not say Knightfall was his first issue. I should know, I bought them both when I was 13.
They created the character specifically to break batman.

You know what, I never knew that actually. I thought since Vengeance came out before Knightfall, that they created him for that, and Knightfall just came about.

Cool fact. :word:

Yes, I bought the books as they came out, too. :word:

I'm thrilled that Hardy's using his regular accent!!! :D
