The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XI

So Bane talks like an old man? Negative one, keep em' coming Chris Nolan.

:whatever:

Yeah, your analogy to this old geezer in Poppins was scarily and hilariously accurate. Seriously when I listen o that Bane audio clip I'm imagining this old goat standing there lecturing Gotham.
I really can't get it out of my mind. The first second I heard it, I was just hoping there were youtube clips out there, so people could know what I was talking about. Gotta love the internet. :woot:

LOL!!

Wtf did you think "toppins" was? :oldrazz:
Eye B a stupid Umerican. :oldrazz:

I don't get the complaints/funny?

Well it's just not what anyone thought Bane would sound like. It's not imposing and it sounds cliche and like some old british person on a respirator.

Out of curiosity, did you also not get the complaints about green lantern? :awesome:

sorry couldnt resist

That is pretty much what I meant, although we can get the basic idea from the audio/video - there are subtle qualities that shape the whole presentation of the voice which are more evident if you were actually there.
One thing people haven't heard yet are his occasional grunts and snarls, very animalistic (one was sorta pig-like) and hints at a strong association with the breathing apparatus.

Hardy has injected his own speech idiosyncrasies as Heath did.

Got to the Batman in the Burgh thread. I have put the tuppence quotes to great use.

Well the trailers were not great but the complaints came after seeing how bad the movie was. We are a year out from TDKR, but some people will complain about anything.

Fight me.

But I don't get why everyone thinks it's funny... Not thinking it's imposing, whatever. He can still punch your nose through the back of your skull. I just don't see what's making everyone go "LOLBENZ!!!!" and how is it cliche? I can't think of another voice that sounds like that one.

People are acting like he came out and started talking like Ed Wynn.

You're not thinking hard enough.

The old guy from Mary Poppins
Snake baby Mutant Voldemort from Goblet of Fire
Amadeus Arkham in the Arkham Chronicles from the Arkham Asylum video game

That's just three off the top of my head.

there's so many ways they can manipulate the audio in order to make that voice sound even more unique than it already is. plus we can't put it into context yet because we know nothing about bane's backstory. i'd lay off bashing it until we see a trailer.

The discussion over his voice reminds me of discussions over Heath's voice in the teaser trailer for TDK; it came out of nowhere, nobody was expecting that kind of voice. It was so hard to put it with the face, in fact, that someone had incorporated the teaser trailer's audio with an image of joker with animated lips!

I personally love the look of Bane so far, at least the mask portion. And once again upon hearing his voice, I was taken by surprise. I have trouble fitting that voice with the image i've been provided with, just like with Joker.
Do I like it?(I ask that as if i'm expecting anyone to even read this) I seriously heard someone laugh in that audio sample once Bane began talking; that was my initial reaction. Not just cause it sounded...funny, but because it was completely different than what anyone would expect =P It's like nolan stuck his finger up our buttholes while giving us head.

I'm curious and look forward to seeing as to why he sounds this way. I dont like it, nor do I dislike it. I'm just intrigued...Tom has a great voice, yet he went with *this*; there's a reason for it.

fwiw a hulking half monster with an intelligent soaring and yet struggling accent is anything but cliche.

maybe you don't like it, and that's fine. but its not cliche. cliche would be what everybody thought it would be... which clearly this is not.

Yeah, reading that makes me really excited and I know this was mentioned by another as well earlier (perhaps Yurka?). I look forward to being able to hear these details, Bane seems to have a genuinely frightening/creepy presence.
Combining the visual details like the mask, overall intimidating size, emotional detail like the expression in his eyes, and his voice/the sounds he makes really come together for an unsettling portrayal which I think could really have a lasting impact on people.

I already tried to manipulate the voice in "many ways" with a professional paid software on my computer. Even with that good stuff the voice still sounds like ****. Especially when he said "THISSSSSSSSSSSS" before that "this is the instrument" line.

Chris Nolan has destroyed Batman:awesome: I want more Batmanm & Robins than to ever have faith in the man who gaves us The Dark Knight .

Sometimes I wish the internet should be banned

Ireally hope all you that are complaining about Nolan and TDKR don't bother showing up so I have a shorter line

I'm sure I'm being harder on Bane and the changes to his character than I was on the Joker because, with the Joker, he'd been relatively well adapted over the years between Nicholson and Hamill and even Romero for his time, and I had no problem with seeing a new, experimental take on the character.

With Bane, I feel like the character as written on the page hasn't gotten nearly his fair shake in media, whether it be the atrocious Batman & Robin or the underwhelming Batman: The Animated Series version.

A wheezing, muzzled revolutionary with an affinity for Serbian winterwear could make for an interesting character, but they'll be a tinge of disappointment in the thought that I'll probably never get to see Bane as I've always loved him.

He didn't destroy Batman, just his voice. Big difference. Oh and the same goes with Bane (for now?).

I'm not complaining about TDKR. After all the spoilers we've gotten, there's only two things I've shown any sort of negativity towards and that's Talia being in it and Bane sounding like he should be hanging out at Springfield retirement castle with Grandpa Simpson in that audio clip we heard.

Of course Nolan didn't destroyed Batman . He saved Batman in terms of the movie franchise which is why I find everyone going nuts before the film comes out laughable . If the film stinks , I will say so but right now based on his previous work I have faith in Nolan and won't whine about stuff not going the way I imagined .

Add Catwoman not looking like Catwoman in her first ever Nolan promo picture and this is me too.
