The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XIV

Back when the casting speculations were just floating around and if Bane will be a possible villain in this movie, Bardem was the only suggestion that I thought made perfect sense.

Tom Hardy might just be the Marlon Brando of our generation, so I think we'll have to stop nitpicking the vocalization we've heard so far and wait for the final product. Batman's voice isn't consistent, Joker's voice wasn't consistent, apparently even Jesus Christ's voice isn't consistent so why does Bane's voice have to be? I have an abundance of faith in how Tom Hardy's going to do. Why don't you?

@ this whole Bardem conversation.

Heh it's actually kinda funny.

If Bardem actually WAS cast, all they would have had to say was "Okay, your character's name is Bane, now, action."

"Uh...what do you want me to do?"

"Oh, just be you. Action!"

Perhaps we should safely stick with the modest position that Hardy is "merely" a good actor who is on his way to the higher echelon. Tom is the dozenth actor I've heard random people compare to Brando in recent time, and he is no more deserving of that title than the other equally capable names.

It's almost as if Brando's significant contributions to cinema have been diluted to the point that any modern actor could actually stand toe-to-toe with his work.

Javier would have been almost too perfect for Bane.

Pfffttt... We all know you guys just want to see this at the TDKR premiere and that's why you want Bardem. :awesome::oldrazz:

I have a girl crush on her so count me in too!

What reason would that be?

He's very much a weirdo in real life and has played similar roles to the Joker.

Bardem has the accent and has done the badass thing already that why it's easy to see him in the role as Bane the same way.

Anyway,

BAM!

No, not really. He's amazing, but he's not exactly one of the greatest of all time.

You doubt Hardy's acting ability?

I have complete faith in Hardy and Nolan's direction, but I kinda agree.

Don't get me wrong, Hardy is a fine choice, but Javier would have been PERFECT.

I love me some Penelope, but my #1 celebrity crush is actually in this movie. :hrt:

Apart from the the accent, features, and overall physical presence, the man is a damn oscar winner (and he earned his too) for a role incredibly similar to the way Bane needs to be portrayed.

But like Nolan said, it's a new take on the character. Perhaps sometime in a future reboot we may see Javier as Bane. (If he's not to busy as Roland *fingers crossed*)

I never wanted Crispin Glover to play The Joker. Sure, he's a weirdo (onscreen and off) and could look like TAS Joker, but he only has one persona in his repertoire...the mute, socially awkward, mousy nerd.

That's not The Joker. At all. He's weird, but he's not a good actor. He's just a weird person who plays himself in movies.

Re: Marlon Brando, I always felt he was overrated. He always seems affected and overly mannered to me, like you can always tell he's acting, not just slipping beneath the skin of a character.

Someone like Daniel Day-Lewis or Gary Oldman, to me, is a better actor than Marlon Brando. And I'm not saying that because I think Day-Lewis or Oldman are gods among men, I'm saying it because I don't think Brando was on some level where no one can ever approach him.

She would actually make an awesome Talia, imo.

I pray we get him as Bane in the future. But if I get both my wishes, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also cast as Batman, people will get confused...

I think Alan Cumming could play an awesome TAS style Joker.

Yeah, I don't envision Bane as a tall, physically intimidating, stone cold Spaniard, either.

Yes, that must be why.

I could care less what people think of my opinions, but if you want throw sarcasm my way then I suggest you start with a valid reason.

Javier played the part of a cunning stoic-psychopath. Point?

I found his performance to be stellar in No Country For Old Men but disturbing or chilling or even intimidating? No. Maybe I can't get past the image he's already made himself in his homeland (seen alot of his films in Spanish) and I gotta tell you, I don't see Javier as Bane.

Now, you can continue to babble on about his performance and apparently how tall Javier is to me but that's as far as it'll go.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go kill a group of people in a small Texas town because I'm 6'3 and of Hispanic descent with sociopathic behavior.

Good evening, Mr. Krim.

This is all that really needs to be said. Quite possibly the only time I've ever seen anyone say this in regards to his performance in that film. I'm baffled that you even liked or hold his turn in that role of high esteem. Considering what his character was, by all accounts he should have failed in your eyes.
