BIG grain of salt and all that.

Rumor: The Flash to Feature "Crazy Cameos," Including Tom Welling and Nicolas Cage as Superman - Bounding Into Comics

They may be looking at the TV end of the spectrum for a second Superman cameo, or at least one by Clark Kent. Tom Welling’s name also came up in the scoop, leading some to believe he will suit up, something hinted at on Smallville but never seen up close.

He’s done imo, I don’t see him returning nor a need for it tbh.

He already did his cameo in Crisis as a depowered Clark, and that was his condition for appearing. He's not going to come back as Superman.

Frankly speaking, it feels a bit odd that they are asking Tom Welling to cameo but not Routh, who was their earlier cinematic version of Superman (who was continuation of Donner's Superman)

Maybe, they want Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex too, which is why Tom is appearing, he won't be in costume though, so it's a repeat of how he appeared in CW's Crisis cross-over event, a bit underwhelming to be honest.

Tru, the only way to top his Crisis cameo would be to "suit up" other wise it'd just be more of the same

I guess they could at least change up his Clark Kent cameo by going old school suit/tie/trench coat reporter Clark instead of farm boy plaid agian, but even that would feel a bit anticlimactic

SuperRouth's post is logical. However, it's 2020... logic & reason are thrown out the window lol!

Crisis cameo, from a story standpoint, was a pretty decent ending for Clark's journey. All he wanted throughout most of the series, was to be normal. He finally got his wish. So it made sense out of all the Clarks/Supermen... he got his wish.

Fan perspective is quite different. So many have waited for him to suit up for years. Still had yet to happen. If you can convince Tom Welling to suit up, or at least wear the Superman costume in some variation, would be a huge deal. With them going after the likes of Keaton, Bale, even possibly Nicolas Cage?! Why not Welling.

You also have to think, whether a Smallville fan or not, Smallville did really boost the Superhero TV series. It came out in 2001. That was literally all DC had going in live action for 4 years until Batman Begins was released. So Tom was the face of DC for some time.

Unless he comes back as Ultraman or something.

So many years of fan-generated rumors, campaigns and demands for Welling as Superman... and it all lead to nothing. Haha.

Sadly, this is another fake story.

Former Clark Kent of Smallville Tom Welling is shooting down the rumor he is reprising his part and donning the cape in The Flash.

The actor addressed and denied the speculation in a recent phone interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet. Welling flatly responded “No,” to the reports and Reddit scoop by DanielRPK.

He added this kind of stuff gets ginned up to keep people talking. “There’s a lot of that that goes on,” he said. “In that world, there’s a lot of rumors because it keeps everybody talking about shows.”

Welling did return for one last go as his version of Clark during CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event. Many, including the Cheat Sheet, call that surprise a coup.

Smallville was already behind Welling for nine years at that point and he hints Crisis is where he is going to leave it for good.

No, I recurred as a Clark Kent character in a crossover thing last year,” he said. “Since then, I think they’re sick of me.”

“They” are probably the producers and the network, if not the fandom, which is unlikely. Fans, seeing a Clark who gave up his powers when his world is about to end, were left disillusioned by Welling’s cameo in Crisis.

The latter group may want his portrayal of Superman to gain some redemption. Yet Welling is clear he wouldn’t be interested – “Not at the moment” – if Warner Bros. or Flash director Andy Muschietti gave him a call.

Oh Tom... haha.
