im sure for most of us toonami was our first taste of animation from the land of the rising sun..........giving us sailormoon, anime that needs no indroduction.........Dragonball, yu yu hakusho, cowboy bebop, our super knukleheaded ninja naruto, and countless other shows...It made me like dragon ball........:wow: shocking isnt it....i used to think dbz was the dumbest thing on this earth, but toonami single handedly changed my opinion and made me one of the shows millions of fans (I  goku)

but the question at hand is whether or not toonami has lost its luster or is still kickin'........................................

It can still be redeemed. With Bleach,Blood and Death Note...but i wish they would put Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop on again.

Silly North Americans... first hand experience for me was Dragonball (a year after it was released in Japan) and that was back in 1995... then I found out I've already been watching anime since 1989 and didn't even knew about it... I live in Mexico so everyone my age remembers this... then I watched Toonami at my cousin's house... and knew it was a piece of crap

They need to go back to its old darker look like about a year and a half ago. The only thing good about this new one is when its first starting up and the robot quotes Outlaw Star.

Adult Swim seems to be getting all the good titles which is probably one of the reasons for Toonami's slip.

Around the time Toonami got the third revamp, that's when Toonami started to decline. Just about all of the quality shows were gone, and started to decline with awful shows. As far as I remember, only Dragon Ball Z (Kid Buu Saga), Rurouni Kenshin, and Yu Yu Hakusho (Chapter Black) were still around during this time. Then Miguzi took over weekdays, and Toonami became Saturday-exclusive, it started to die. Only Yu Yu Hakusho, Megas XLR, and Justice League Unlimited were still around. Then when Toonami revamped again a few months ago, the cancer had taken over. There are no redeeming qualities left. With that said, CN just needs to put Toonami out of it's misery. Also, like Dorian Gray said, Adult Swim has all of the good anime.

Cowboy beebop never came on Toonami.
Otherwise, none of those shows except YuYu ever were on Toonami because of content.

Toonami is crap now. Adult Swim is the way to go.

I remember when Yu Yu Hakusho came on Adult Swim Saturday, when they showed all anime. This was about 5 years ago, though, if anyone remembers.

im not sure if im right but adult swim and toonami used to be one in the same withe the former being called the midnight run........until toonami became the official kids-teen anime block and adult swim becoming the older teen0adult audience. Meing that toonami at one point did show cowboy bebop.........but then again i could be wrong but i do remeber when we got cable in the 90's they did have the midnight run block though i cant remember what was on it i think i might go wiki it to refresh my memory............

You guys remember when Toonami showed both ThunderCats and Voltron. So awsome and bad at the same time.

No, The Midnight Run was just an offshoot of Toonami. Adult Swim didn't exist back then. During the Midnight Run, they showed uncut episodes of Dragon Ball Z, uncut episodes of Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, and (way back) Ronin Warriors. Cowboy Bebop was never on Toonami (the edits would've made it worse, I think). Toonami also had another offshoot on Saturday mornings called The Rising Sun. It was basically Toonami repeats, and the last refuge for anime that didn't make the weekday lineup.

The closest thing to adult/uncut anime was when Adult Swim had anime Saturdays. For about a year when Adult Swim first debuted, they showed anime on Saturday night. They showed Yu Yu Hakusho (before they showed the edited versions on Toonami), Big O, Trigun, Gundam 0080, etc. After a year, this got removed from Saturday night. The Cartoon Network Saturday night (that showed Justice League, etc.) came on, then regular Adult Swim came on after that. This was way before Toonami got moved to Saturday nights.

warhammer thanks for clearing that up i saw what you said on wiki too.....but watching toonami these days makes me feel old and im not even that old..........

I barely watch Toonami. I only watch it for the anime shows like Naruto and etc.

i dont either except for naruto, dbz, and one piece(my hate for this show seems to be slowly going away who knew funimation could do that......)

but im just saying in general, you have watched toonami at some point in your life right????

Yes, I have watched Toonami when I was younger.

I'm sorry, but the line-ups of the past were so great. Back then, Toonami had Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon SS, Ronin Warriors, Gundam Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam, 08th Mobile Suit Team, G Gundam, Dragon Ball, Superman, Batman, Batman Beyond, Big O, Yu Yu Hakusho, ReBoot, The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, Megas XLR, Robotech, Samurai Jack, Zoids, and a few others. Those were the shows of the glory days.

DBZ came on here in 1995 too. That's why I can't get used to the FUNimation voice actors.

I believe it has gone down hill and with Tom new appearance looking like a kids show character has further proved this.

It could live again but they need to get the old shows back
